That’s so cool! I’ve had a similar effect with my 2 x separate 10’s, although I find vertically the sound growls and is deeper (think 70’s classic rock) and horizontal is better for a higher mid sound (funk, soul etc) Basically the best sound I’ve ever had in 50 years!
Great video!! I used to have two 2x10 cabs from another manufacturer and their suggestion was to always stack them vertically. I followed their recommendation. After watching this video I have a better understanding of why I was told to stack them vertically.
I’ve got euphonic audio cabs. A 2x10 with tweeter and 1x12 with a horn . And for many years I had no idea and had the 12 on the bottom . Only recently discovered putting the 12 on top was amazing. Now you’ve shows me a vertical 2x10 is the go. Cheers
Can say from experience this effect is immense in the real world. I’d been using my Two10S vertically for ages but then decided to try it horizontally with my Elf … absolutely obliterated the rest of the band with one cab 😅 Now I have the Trace TE-1200 they’re back in vertical orientation otherwise walls would be flattened
@@chrisb48907 I love them! I tend to use one for rehearsals and function-type gigs, and wheel out both for loud rock band gigs without PA support. The versatility I get with the horizontal and vertical orientation options and one or two cabs means I have every situation covered :)

Alex and/or Barefaced team, not sure if this is an easy question to answer, but if it's possible to put the answer into words: Do you know how much different one Two10ST would be from a One10 stacked with a One10T? At first I thought it would be nearly equivalent, but now I'm thinking perhaps there is more "going on" with the full Two10S/T enclosure that may not exist in two separate 10" cabs. I have a One10T and a Two10ST on order, and I was thinking about getting a One10 to make a super-flexible combination - i.e. could just use a One10T by itself for small shows, a Two10ST for medium venues, or all 3 cabs for essentially a "Four10T" vertical tower or split up into essentially a dual-Two10ST "stereo" setup. But if I'm really losing some of the "magic" of the Two10S/T cab, maybe I'm better off re-thinking this. Thanks!!
Pretty sure in other videos and possibly the website that Alex mentions that the One10 is not a half sized Two10. You will not have the crossover and dual resonance for starters, plus bigger boxes with more speakers typically have bigger/deeper sounds to my recollection so a Two10S will sound significantly different from a One10. That's my understanding anyway, best to shoot barefaced an email in case I'm mistaken, lol

You asked for guitarist questions....well I would like to hear a 210 vs 212 vs 110 vs112 for guitar with the 2s both horizontal and vertical. I've played your 212 which is very responsive but quite large and want to hear if 210 has same responsiveness with less footprint or whether 112 does the same job. Thanks JohnN
Vertical is badge at the top, Hybrid Resonator outlet (looks like a conventional port) at the bottom. The speakers aren't "tuned differently", just the right/lower one has a crossover on it for better dispersion.

I completely understand if you’re reluctant to give that out. …Aside from whether that’s confidential or not, I imagine this could be a really useful trick to try and implement for my ‘69 Ampeg 2x12 combo amp. I have a 1x15” baffle for it as well, and after trying that (albeit a different driver) I’m wondering if the dispersion/phase relationships you talk about are THE annoying aspect of my sound quality that I don’t seem to have a way to control with 2 12’s. Sorry, that was a bit winded for a piggyback comment… lol thanks in advance and amazing work Alex, as always. I could definitely hear the difference, even from my phone’s speakers.
Thankfully when it comes to bass, combining two different things rarely gets you the best of both worlds and more often gets you something worse than either! However, with guitar this mixed things approach does appear to often pay dividends…

"A better plywood plus a better enclosure designs equals better sound and lower weight." I would say: A better SOLID WOOD cabinet and better enclosure equals better sound and lower weight. Seriously, solid wood cabs are lighter weight and (more importantly) sound better to my ears. With my melodic lead style solid wood cabs have a softer, warmer, more musical "reedy" sound, one of the reasons vintage "tweed" era Fender (solid pine) and Gibson (solid redwood) amps sound so good. If you ever offer solid wood cabs, I believe you would sell them, because I'm not the only person who prefers solid wood cabinets.........?
Without extensive testing and measuring, I don’t know regarding tone - for guitar at least. For bass cabs, solid wood is a terrible idea. For either it certainly wouldn’t be lighter - show me a solid wood cab that’s lighter than our guitar cabs! My overwhelming suspicion is that it’s most likely to be observer bias and placebo effect. Speaker cabinets are really really not like electric guitars.
The GS112 does not do this - it’s just a conventional front-ported cab that you can use horizontally or vertically and rotating it like that doesn’t change the frequency response (like the Two10S) or the polar pattern (like the Two10S).

@@damirvintar262 you’ll notice a difference vertical vs horizontal because you’re changing the location of the 12” driver vs your ears and vs the floor (boundary reinforcement). The Two10S does more than this, as explained and demonstrated in this video. Applying science and doing proper engineering makes better products that sound better and perform better in the real world!

I'm loving my two Super Compacts but, damn, you're making me want a Two10ST! I'm very surprised by how much of a difference the orientation makes.

If the two speakers are tuned differently there must be a difference in which side is up when the cab is vertical, right?

Entertaining video.. but nothing new. Aguilar designed and presented this in their GS 112 cabs around 20 ys ago ;) ...
