Secrets of Eternity was released in January 2015. This set introduced the Infernoids, a series of monsters that can Special Summon themselves to the field by banishing other Infernoids from either the hand or graveyard. Notable cards in set include Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Qliphort Monolith, Uni-Zombie, Nephe Shaddoll Fusion, and a card that would bolster Satellarknight to combat the Burning Abyss Shaddoll meta, Stellarknight Constellar Diamond.
Yes, 1000x yes on this idea. Hope to see other archetypes that may have only seen a single format or two, like ABC, or maybe some extensive archetypes like Zoodiac.
After watching this, BA was the deck that wouldn’t go away. Every time Konami thought they sealed these demons away, Dante clawed his way out of the Burning Abyss to rise up and cause havoc.
Madolche is a good archetype to be discussed too regarding its history. A decade-old archetype, has since been in that tight space between a meta deck or rogue one. Sometimes tops too, and (seemingly) always one card off for it to climb into the meta stage. To me, that one card off is... just a decent searcher, maybe a spell card.
@@MrAlexjmercer Yeah, people see it as either a really strong rogue deck or a really weak meta deck. Madolche already have its own omni negate (as long as it activates on the field) while gaining card advantage in the process (Promenade), strong extender (Salon), and strong starter (Petingcessoeur). This list would be complete if there's a strong searcher like Madolche's archetypal version of Tenki for example. 50% of my duels using Madolche was just leaving Magileine on the field alone since it get ashed...
@@KesslerVTuber Because Madolche has been given tons of support, not to mention Tiaramisu will never get powercreeped (at least that's what I thought). Non-targeting and shuffle removal for up to 2 cards is always a good answer for modern boss monsters that "Can't be destroyed". As long as Konami isn't that stupid enough to release a splashable Towers monster
@@Neilasama Only problem with Madolche is how overly expensive they are (and maybe the high power ceiling but hey even if you slightly know what you are doing you still look cool)
Now this makes me want to see a video of the competitive history of Shaddolls…that archetype was way ahead of its time, given how oppressive Construct and Winda can get.
The history of dragon link can be cool, even tho it isnt as old as ba or shaddoll, the deck went trough a lot of different build and stuffs(from ib, to clock ftk, seal pass...)

Nice video. Specially like that Summoning salt outro song. Anyways, some of the other infamous archetypes like Black wings, Tele dad, and maybe the TOSS format archetypes would be interesting to cover in the future.
This was such an incredibly informative and entertaining video Stevie! I cannot put into words how much I enjoyed these 30 Minutes listening to you. I started playing YuGiOh in about 2012 up to 2017 when I quit and came back again this January. The time from 2014 to 2016 was my absolute favorite and I have so many fond memories of the sets and formats. Duelist Alliance truly was a game changing set and, If you were to ask me, the most impactful set this game has ever had. Shaddoll, Burning Abyss, Tellarknights and shortly after Qli, Nekroz and Ritual Beasts - this time had so many good decks and a varied Metagame. Shaddoll were the first really good deck I ever played and my "first YuGiOh Love" too, so I have a lot of good memories from back then. Either way: good freaking job on this video, I cannot wait to see more content like this. If you will do more of these, could you consider doing one on Shaddoll? I absolutely love this Archetype, how powerful and still very relevant to this day it is. Love the vids man, keep it up :)
This was a really enjoyable video, it's very clear just how much effort you put into this. Also, my suggestion for a future video would probably be Shadoll, from its original dominance in the Arc-V era to its resurgence with the release of the structure deck and Schism.
Easily one of your best vids, i loved this man. Fantastic job! Id love to see one on lightsworn, mermail, or something as all encompassing as the history of competitive Dragon decks!
This was extremely interesting. I hope you do more videos about past formats like this. It’d be cool to see something about the many evolutions of Chaos, Heroes, or Monarch decks in the competitive scene throughout the years.
It’s really neat seeing what was considered competitively viable in the past and I feel like there aren’t nearly enough videos about it on UA-cam. We all know the more famous cards/fan-favorite decks but with every new banlist there’s a handful of strategies that make top cut for a format or two and are never heard from again. With all the returning players that Master Duel brought back I feel like a series aggregating all of that data could be cool to watch and really blow your channel up.
When I returned to the game.. it was 2018/2019.. so seeing Skystriker, Thunder Dragon, and Orcust was insane. I played orcust for a bit and the idea of an archetype xyz to summon over any of its links.. was insane to me
I like this as a nice bit of historical analysis which Yugioh could use more of. Entertaining throughout. Overall, a great addition to your channel, especially since Rata only uploads every 5 months! Maybe a deck like Chaos next? The history of Monarchs? Something long lasting that has had loads of changes over the years.
Great video! Would love to see pendulums talked about. Especially the transition from performapals to magicians being the competitive pendulum deck, with Endymion being sort of the last noteworthy pend deck released. Lightsworn could also be cool
I love these because I returned from the 2010/2011 era in Sept 2020. And I watched a lot of Duel Logs videos to catch me up on what happened between then and now so I heard a lot about BAs, Shaddolls, towers, garnets, etc. So I love these types of videos because they give me true insight to what the real meaning behind a certain deck is. Thanks for the vid and hope to see more of these
I would really enjoy the history of Infernity. From unplayable pack filler to Synchro Spam, to Board Setup with Xyz, that archetype had a really colorful history.

Great video and very interesting. I always had an interest for the history of BA, so this is a great job done. And as a suggestion, even if it is not a arquetype, and more of a type, I would like a video about Zombie or Plant decks. Types that seem to have the potential, but always had key issues.
Nekroz format nats was so fun. I spent like 55 dollars on secret village of the spellcasters for a last minute tech, and fucking ate nekroz decks for breakfast, normal mathman activate village put them in such a shitty position with only one possible out being them drawing dancer.
I still remember the hit to Lavalval Chain because I used to it so much with my Gem-Knight deck and I was so sad it got banned cause I litterally didn't give a shit about Nekroz
BA had more tops than that in 2017. In addition to the 2 mentioned in the video: - Destin Kaspi got Top 32 in February at YCS Seattle - I got Top 32 in March at YCS Atlanta (for a hilarious feature match search round 6 on UA-cam) - Michael Forner got Top 8 in October at YCS London That was just from a quick search on Yugioh Top Decks, I'm sure there were others as well. It was a very difficult year for the deck, but there were more than just 2 tops. Typically the deck just had to be mixed with other engines.
If it wasn’t for Farfa, I wouldn’t have discovered Burning Abyss in Yugioh as I quit for a while during that era and didn’t return till links were introduced!
I love how this is inspired by False Swipe Gaming pokemon videos. This makes me hope Dinos gets their own video since it's had a interesting history similar to BA, but in a different way where it was always close to tier 1, but never was tier 1 all the time.
