THANKS! I noticed the trick to getting the air cleaner cowl back onto those rubber seals is to start with corner closest to the passenger seat and the one seal to your right of that. Those two have like a ramp sort of structure built into the cowl to guide it into place.

So much harder to get it out than it is to get it back in. I appreciate the video! Now I have a washable KN filter in my car
TOOLS: 8mm / 5/16 socket wrench and a flathead screwdriver
Remove the electrical junction on the righthand side (if you have it) by pulling up the red clip on it, AND THEN pushing in the black piece under the red clip. Then the whole electrical piece pulls out (it may have electrical tape on it - you likely do not have to remove the tape like I did by mistake! Mine also had a zip tie which had previously been cut. I don’t know if it had to be or not. Try pulling it out without removing that stuff. )
After watching multiple videos and reading comments, and doing this myself, I would say it’s easier to completely remove both hoses. It takes no time and it makes it so much easier to put the cover back on.
If you are super skilled with a long ratchet you could potentially just take the filter cover off. But honestly, I don’t see how the heck you reach the back screws. Seems like it would take FOREVER

Don’t use that filter. It is great but requires a lots of cleaning. Just got a normal filter and change it every 10k
Is this air filter compatible with ford focus ?
Maybe I should've kept my 2015 Kia soul base. Took maybe 20 seconds to take out the old filter and put a new one in. Lol

Good god. Instead of taking the whole engine apart just take off the five screws on the cover.
Another videos comment section says that this shortcut method is actually just as time consuming, because it’s so hard to reach those screws without taking everything off.
