  • Quick video of my new 1964 Easy Washer. The video quality is only fair because of lighting and steam, but it gets the idea across.

I have to admit, I really do like the plunging wash action of this washer...and the spray rinses, AND the design, AND the quietness. It would have to be with my "Holy grail" of washers, along with the Unimatic, the Kelvinator, and the Philco...

OMG what a wonderful spray-rinse !!!! Sure wish they still had that on today's machines. As it is, (at least in the USA) it is difficult to even get a machine with that anymore, much less even find a top loader with a regular agitator. The top loaders are all going HE now and they do a crappy job of cleaning clothes.

now THATS how to get clothes clean! I just LOVE the agitation action!

That's one damn nice machine. I think the 1940's up until the 1970's may have been the highest point for american machines... They looked EVER so rich and enchanting, it gives people a certain vibe of something great... All that chrome, porcelein, wonderful coloured paint, speckled drums, and sometimes even graciously lighted control panels!
Welp this 1964 Easy's going on my "Must Have" list!

I am crying right now because we don't have these kind of washers anymore. I wish the government had kept their nose out of our business.

Very awesome.. I just love the click and clunk of the timer advancing.

So the 1964 Easy washer was a long stroke agitation like Maytag's transmission using the Pitman arm.

These machines today do to much damn thinking. Hell just wash rinse and move on like these work horses.

Antonio Carter yeah it would be better if those retarded manufacturers put a water level switch and a dial with an agitator and all metal components

The wash action is very similar to a hand plunger action... very interesting. Not fabulous turnover, but it sure moves the clothes around in the water a lot.

decent rollover.... slow but powerful agitation which is much gentler on the fabrics

yeah thats right but the hot water come out off the water heater. when i see for exemplar a vid form a whirpool washer wehen they wash towels there come no steam out like at this machine so i think the mordern washers mix the hot water to much with cold water so the water isnt so hot like at this machine.

I do not know why they marked your comments as spam.....but I totally agree with you!
Both my aunts bought a Front loader set, Kenmore and Frigidaire, and both them sold their machines after a month because they were really bad, they didn't get clothes clean....no wonder why!!!

  • @grandcarriage1

PS: That is one HELL of a quiet machine. I'm impressed. Was Easy it's own company, or was it owned by a larger co...like how Ford had Philco, Gm: Frigidaire, etc.

Easy was the Easy Washing Machine Company, based in Scranton, PA, for many years. In the early 1960s it became a division of Hupp Corp., based in Cleveland, OH, who in turn sold it to Gibson in about 1967; that name replaced Easy. Gibson in its turn became part of White Consolidated Industries, then of Electrolux AB of Sweden, which it is now.
There may have been a Canadian tie-in; General Steel Wares (now GSW) of London ON marketed machines as McClary-Easy, then GSW Easy. In the 70s GSW and GE Canada formed a joint venture, CAMCO (Canadian Appliance Manufacturing Company), which built and sold the machines under several different names.

Do any of you old washer fans know how I might make contact with a group in the UK? I've tried searching online but I don't even know what wording to use. Any help appreciated, love the video by the way, lovely and clear sound and vision, and great choice of clothes colour : >

What type of agitator does this have? To me from the agitation cycle it looks like a ramp one.

but the most germans ore european how lives in america say that the american washers *toploaders* wash bad.
beacause they say that this machines wash not so hot just like european models
i love toploaders but i think its true. a european washer heat the water self form 86°F to 203°F and we have only frontloaders -.-* toploaders to but they work like a frontloader so without a agitator -.-*
