    Each of these bento boxes is equally appealing. My wife and I will try them. As we are older and have less appetite, your style of cooking is ideal!

    My favorite spice mix is called zaatar. Its a mix of persian thyme, sumac and roasted sesame seeds, and gives a middle eastern flavor. It's pretty simple, but it tastes good on any meat and in pasta or potato salads.

      Oh Thanks for telling me! This sounds really new to me, and sounds delicious! I will look for zaatar online 😆

    Great bentos and useful tips on saving time, Sayaka. I would choose the karage/fried rice one, but also like the simple egg sauce. I also like the fast pickles, but personally I would leave the plum out, that is just me. Nice clip!

      Yea, you need to skip the plum... 😁
      Thank you so much for your warm comment as always!!

    Wow, those look so good! I finally returned to figure skating lessons as of last month and I'm trying to find some good bento ideas as I want to start making bentos to eat after my private lessons for recovery nutrition and to save money.

    Wonderful ideas! Would you have any recommendations for what to use in place of sake and mirin?

    • @trcstwrt
      @trcstwrt 4 місяці тому +3

      Sake and mirin are used to remove any strong smells, and to bring out flavors that are only alcohol soluble. But even if you don't have or can't drink alcohol, it will still taste good if you use the same amount of water and a little sugar. To your taste, of course.
