Hello everyone - I am having a real issue with someone commenting here pretending to be me and telling people that they have won a prize. THIS IS NOT ME - PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND OR ENGAGE WITH THIS PERSON! Please block and report this person - thank you so much!
I think you should address it in one of your videos because not everyone is reading the comments. I have received a message from the scammers pretending to be you as well. I knew it was a fake account but some people may be tricked. Other UA-camrs have this problem too. I hope something can be done about it. Take care!
I'm an American but went to school at George Watsons when it was a girl's school on George Square. We had a cookery class and laundry class and learned as young girls to do some of the things that you show - including how to starch napkins, pillowcases and even handkerchiefs. With the silver polishing, get a baby toothbrush, one that is very soft, so it won't scratch the silver and it helps to get into all the small corners and details. All these tasks can be made more elegant when you have lovely music in the background, like you put behind your narration.
I'm old enough to have taken three years of home economics classes. I really enjoyed it. I worked in the financial field for 10 years then became a mom at home. I really leaned on those classes as a mom. I was able to sew elaborate Halloween costumes and bake creative desserts. Thank you Nicholas for helping those of your viewers who aren't as lucky as I and for giving me a few new tips. (I've unpacked the good china to use daily!)
A tip from my mother - if you don't have time to get to ironing your linens, while they are in that 'not quite dry' state, lay them out flat in a stack, roll them up in a dampened towel (those waffle weave IKEA towels are perfect) like a jelly roll and pop the entire thing into the fridge. Your now have two or three days grace to get your ironing done. Ironing napkins and handkerchiefs was how I learned. I was very proud when my mom let me iron my father's dress shirts.
Polishing the silver and starching the linen was my job as a child .Now that I'm older I find it more therapeutic than a chore. We all deserve elegance, and you do have to put the work into it . I'm so happy you are able to teach the new generation these old skills Nicholas it makes a difference to the dinner table and life . 💛👍
I love ironing myself. It's calming. As A child my job was to shine the family shoes, paste, polish and shine, much like doing the silver. In those days one didn't go to church with messy shoes or clothes.
I remember being tasked with polishing the silver, as well as setting the table for Thanksgiving dinner as a child... while my mom got the meal ready. I felt so grown-up and responsible! I'll have to get more linens of my own now for future meals and practice caring for them as they deserve. It makes a real difference!
I had a friend whose chore was polishing big brass (bronze, maybe?) clad double entry doors to the house. We all thought that it was hysterical. The rest of us had normal stuff like taking out the garbage or walking the dog....
The world has become very casual, and while I understand and like some aspects of that, it’s always a pleasure to see wonderful “old fashioned “ details in entertaining settings. They elevate even the most simple meals.
I absolutely love the way you describe elegance! As an anxiety coach, I am always looking for new ways to teach awareness and the way you bring intentionality to your every day is a perfect example I can share with my clients! Thank you for sharing this! I might add, this video was extremely relaxing!
@Tim Riehl…You make an excellent point, however old school mentality is very hard to overcome. Those of us with older generation grandparents and parents had many things that were “just for show” or “special occasion” and were handed down as such. I want to use some of the beautiful things I’ve inherited but still can’t bring myself to do so. 😔
I absolutely love your videos Nicolas. Like you I am a single guy living alone in the S.E. United States. Elegance is a part of our Southern tradition here and as a single man I appreciate beauty and elegance. Thank you for inspiring me in such a soothing, relaxing way.
Yes, I also like the old ways. When I was young my nanny, Ms. Martha, used and empty Coca-Cola bottle with a cork top. She filled it with very warm water and powder starch then shook it till dissolved. The holes in the cork sprinkled over the cloth to which she would steam iron. Everything came out so shapely and fresh! A dash of lavender makes a fresh fragrance. Unbelievable!
Ha, you're a sorcerer! The effect your videos have on me is amazing: Just having finished my video calls, I see your new video. Watch it for 5 minutes. Stop it and instead of quickly making myself a bread for dinner and eating it on the couch with my legs up as I had intended to, I go to the kitchen and think what I would do if I had guests. I take the new sets out, cut the bread and lay it on an extra dish as well as the ham, choose the nice dishes and carry everything on a tray to my dining table, sit down and thoroughly enjoy the meal - and finish watching your video. What a treat! Thank you!
Nicolas...I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy your videos! Seeing you care for your neighbor is heartwarming too - we need more people like you in this world.
Just like my grandmother used to starch her linens and aprons… She used this method of starching at least once a week, and I would watch her every move. She would roll each piece into a ball to keep it from drying out, and we would iron them out together in her huge kitchen. It always amazed me how beautifully they came out. Thank you for the memory Nicolas.❤️
Using this old style of starching is the best. I usually use it for all linen clothes which I own a lot.AND I add for white clothes a tiny bit of indigo powder.
Thank you for this reminder. I sometimes compalin about doing the mundane parts of daily living. Your idea of approaching them with grace should help me to be more mindful of how fortunate I am to have a house to clean, food to cook, and laundry to handle. I on't mind telling you that at 84 years old (almost 85), I've become a Nicolas groupie.
Oh Nicholas you dropped me down a rabbit hole called memory. When I first did my first aid training with St Andrews Ambulance Association the woman's company indoor uniform was the old nurses uniform with a white bib apron.on the night before my first annual inspection I did just as you did with the napkins only I may have been a little over enthusiastic with the starch my apron stood proudly to attention in the corner without the need of a human mannequin to support it. Thanks for the memory and the smile
Nicolas, are you in England? I don't want to make assumptions. I really enjoy your videos. We need to bring back good manners, class, and elegance. I make homemade Sourdough bread, butter, mayonnaise, etc. and I worry that it is going to be a lost art if the younger generation doesn't learn how to do these things. I bet your dinner parties are just wonderful. I wish I had a friend like you here in the States.
Nicolas - You inspire and refresh my spirit pal! You even make the menial task of polishing the silver, somehow seem charming. Thank you so much for kindly sharing your experience and journey with the world.❌⭕❌⭕
I've always thought this way!!.. Especially now as an Interior Designer... Precious and Elegant things are for Every Day use!!.. No plastic on the furniture.. No towels for "decor" only!!.. Use the things u Love every day!!.. U'll be happier and enjoy Ur Life to the.. Fullest!!.. ✌️❤️😎💖👍
I have a tip to extend your cut flowers given to me from a friend who is a flower importer.. When flowers start to wilt snip off the tips, massage the stems with a motion of downward strokes to release the air pockets... replace them into fresh water and voila... flowers that last to a week or more.. ❤❤❤ Enjoy you being you Nicholas we love you. ❤❤❤
As an Antique Dealer, we have a lot of silver. I have great deal of respect for staff that used to do this job back in the Victorian And Edwardian Eras. Of course we have the "double whammy" of many brass chandeliers. We actually have a schedule and at twice a week we pull various items out of inventory so they can be polished between dealing with customers. It's a lot of work but presentation in our shop is everything. I cringe when I do into an antique shop and find siver sitting unpolished and looking like a discard.
🙋♀️So very kind of you to bake cookies for your neighbour. With the silver service, china and linens, my parents served tea and sweets every Sunday evening. We used silver, china and cloth napkins daily, the silver flatware was in a kitchen drawer. I like to think my parents and grandparents were ahead of their time. No plastic, aerosols or one time use items were purchased. I use cape cod polishing cloths. The cloths have a pleasant scent. I prefer to shop locally, but they are probably available on Amazon. Thank you for all of the lovely videos you and Vanessa produce. I can only attempt to imagine the long hours it takes. Please know the joy you bring to so many people worldwide! 😊❄🐶
Elegance is seeking out and putting more beauty in your life--no matter what the circumstances...it does not need to be expensive--just look for the beauty--if there is not enough of it, began to read beautiful things and they will begin to multiply in your life...this vlog and others are a good start...dts/usa
You are completely an elegant man. Even the personal stationary adds such an elegant touch to your get well gift for your neighbour that is feeling poorly upstairs. Pressing starched napkins is such a calming task. I always have to be careful. I am always afraid of scorching them when ironing. I did this once to one of my favourite napkins and have been so cautious since. I cover the napkin with a clean white cotton tea towel (only use it for this task) when ironing to prevent any further accidents. They feel so fresh and new when the task is completed. I also add a few drops of lavender essential oil and mix well into my starch solution. Your guests get a whiff of country fresh elegance when used. This is another good trick for your pillow cases and top end of your sheets. Cotton sheets smell so good and the bedroom carries a hint of lavender fragrance to the air. Your thoughtful ways add such a warmth and charming compliment to you as a person. God Bless you and your lovely soul always.
Thank you for your podcast. I love your calm energy and that helps me to calm down a bit as well. You are a kind and generous person. As busy as New York City gets, when I tune into your program, you bring peacefulness and of course elegance to my day. I truly appreciate it and I appreciate you and your energy. Thank you very much and have a beautiful week.
I swear that I smelled that special odor (which I like) when your steam iron hit those napkins! Some of you who've ironed a lot with starch may know that smell🤩👌. Mom taught us to make the starch and then we put it into a spray bottle. Or shook it on with a closed fist... both sides. But one needs to wash nozzle, etc thoroughly after. I may start ironing the top edge of my sheets again! Thanks young man!
Hi Nicolas , I’m attorney from Venezuelan. Now I’m living in Atlanta - GA USA 🇺🇸. Im enjoying your videos 😀 but I love when you make breakfast or dinner . My family love ❤️ to see your recipes . I wish you the best 2023
My dear young man, I so appreciate your enthusiasm. When I was younger this is how I lived. Sadly family and friends never appreciated this form of elegance and the work that goes into it. Because of this I gave it up. All my nice things have been sitting in cabinets for years just waiting to be used. I applaud you and truly hope those around you appreciate this elegant beauty you provide for them. Peace
I remember learning to starch our aprons when I took home economics in school. The finished product is hard to beat. A splash of silver in the home adds just the right amount of sparkle. Thanks Nicolas🙏❤️
This was great. Love polishing silver; very therapeutic. If your silver is ornate or has detailing that creates depressions or crevices, you might want to go over everything with a soft hair brush (paint brush) first to remove any dust or particles that might scratch when you buff. Also when removing water from your wet napkins, squeeze it as a ball as opposed to twisting. Twisting weakens the fibers.
I like to use cloth napkins as well. I have some white ones that I use for fancy dinners. I also have many sets that I have made with colorful fabrics. Florals, plaids, etc. When using all white dishes the colorful napkins can real make my table scape unique.
Living an elegant lifestyle is about cultivating a sense of sophistication, refinement, and grace in your everyday life. It encompasses various aspects, including your manners, personal style, home decor, and social interactions. Elegant style is characterized by simplicity, clean lines, and sophistication. It's a look that radiates confidence and understated luxury. In today's fast-paced world, elegant style has come to represent more than just a garment...You are lovely to give me an inspiration, Nicolas...💖
I am impressed with the intangible “elegances” of journal writing, kindness and winding down as well as some of the built in ones you show us…. a beautiful pot to do the chore of starching the napkins, monochromatic pencils for the pencil holder, and beautiful stationery to write a note.
Hagerty’s makes silver protection strips and when you put them near the silver or put a couple in a cabinet were they are, it keeps them from tarnishing.
*_You polishing your teapot made me cry ... because I vividly remember my mother doing that to her entire silver serving items ... most especially before her famous bridge card parties ... and left over, lovely little cakes and delicacies my brothers and I would discover the morning after such parties. My mother knew how to be elegant ~ I had almost forgotten._*
It's nice to know you encourage using special elements like silver. I recently started using my (very old) family sterling tableware as my every day utencils. It's true, it adds a simple elegance to life--- and I don't mind the maintenance at all! Thank you for your insights.
I love to entertain with my collection of china, silver, and crystal...and I do love polishing my silver. Ironing napkins and tablecloths makes everything look so nice and finished. i wash all of my china, etc by hand so things are not damaged or broken. There is so little gentility and good manners in the modern world. I definitely am from a different generation and am heartened by you, such a gracious and kind young man.
Such a lovely thought to make the cookies for your neighbour. I agree absolutely about using your silver, china, and linen. I love linen napkins and take care of them very carefully - but use spray starch. Didn’t realise you could still get the powder starch - remember my mum with a bowl of starch out, using it to starch all sorts of things when I was a child. I count myself very fortunate to be able to live in a time where we can buy beautiful things, like Wedgwood and Crown Derby China, linen napkins, double damask tablecloths, and silver plate tea services, all at reasonable prices on auction websites ( if you shop around a bit) because folks no longer want the bother of caring for them. I use all my china - no point leaving it in the cupboard. Like you I love entertaining, and find when the dining table is set up beautifully, find folks linger, and really enjoy the meal. In fact at my New Years Eve dinner party we nearly missed midnight - we were still at the dining table at 11.45pm! Thank you so much for your enjoyable and relaxing videos.
I love when you set your mind to a task it is in the spirit of mindfulness Nicolas. Your quote that Elegance is a mindset helps one to realize it is attainable. Namaste. ❤️
I´ve enjoyed this episode very much!!! I love the way you show us your cleaning tips! I get inspired just to listen to your calming voice!!! I'm sure Lucy, your neighbour must have enjoyed your chocolate cookies and above all your sweet gesture!!! And the way you wrapped them!! Wowww!!! And last, but not least, watching dear Sophie puts a big smile on my face!!! Thank you Nicolas!!!☺
I love to lightly starch and iron my heavy cotton, vintage pillowcases. I love how this takes me back to my childhood when all bed linens were pressed. They had such a fresh scent, creating a crisp, immaculate bed to climb into and dream!
Thanks Nicholas for a beautiful video I feel calm after watching it. Yes to Napkins No to paper servettes,, little things can give an amazing feeling of luxuary Heres to everyday Elegance !!
Dear Nicolas, I really admire your definition about elegancy. I like your attitude to small details, and old school methods to polish and starch remaind me to my grand Mom.But they are the best. You inspire my spirit . And kindness is elegancy, no dought. Thanks again for the pleasant end of my day.
Nicolas, thank you for another inspiring and relaxing video. Your opening comments set the tone in this episode. "Everything in life is a cherished moment." In our busy lives, it is easy to take things for granted and to find mundane tasks burdensome. You have the gift of making the ordinary an extraordinary experience. Lucy is lucky to have you as a neighbor. Your homemade cookies, gift wrapping and message must have made her feel special. Your thoughtful, caring, and engaging manner keeps your audience coming back for more. God bless you. From New York, Robert.
Well done, I am going to iron my sister's napkins today, I used them for Christmas ,she will be so happy I starched them Thank you for the remind of things I use to do..
Nicolas, how much I love your videos. Thank you for the peace you bring to everyone who watches them. You are a kind soul. Much love and respect to you. Barbara
I quite like ironing (napkins and pillow cases ) and polishing silver and I really like watching you do it! 😄 So relaxing - and inspirational. Thanks for reminding us that elegance can be achieved in many ways.
Nicolas, it is always a delight your watch your videos. You are so right when you say elegance does not have to be expensive. I find cleaning silver to be very therapeutic. The cookies look delicious😊. Thank you for taking the time to make & upload this video. ❤
I ask this myself this question everyday. Watering and taking care of my plants, taking tea daily, making time for a walk are my ways to enjoy the simple pleasures that give me an appreciation for the finer details of life and elegance.
Nicholas, I am affirmed by your views about living, but also feel foolish sometimes. When I am awakened by the cry of a toddler who has wet the bed, the child who has misplaced her backpack, a phone call, etc., my morning tea flies out the window. I love my children and home, but paper napkins are the choice for every day. I can treat myself, alone or with a friend, or take a pretty bath, but I have chosen to continue to love beauty no matter what the day brings and to be thankful!
I use it on all of my crochet doilies and place mats. I use my kitchen counter and lay them on top of each other and hand shape to original size. I polish silver when I am depressed. It is a simple task that make me feel like I am doing something positive and reinforcing how fortunate I am to have it to take care of. We are stewards of the beautiful things in our lives, as they will outlast us by centuries.
Thank you, you are really inspiring. I have decided to live a little bit more elegant life this year. My budget is limited but I do have some nice china and good quality clothes and shoes. My New Year's resolution is to teach in "my Sunday best" (I teach English mainly in my home), there is no point in holding on to beautiful clothes in the hope that one day one will wear them to the opera ;-) I do go to the opera, BTW :-)
In Brasil my country we use corn starch to do the same on cloes. And try clean silver with hot water and sodio bicarbonate in a aluminium pam is really easy.
Great video Nicolas. I’m a recovering silver addict. At one time I had three sets of silver flatware, multiple serving pieces, candelabra and a butler’s tray with a tea tipper, coffee pot, sugar and creamer. Since downsizing all I have is the silver flatware that has been in the family many years. After watching this video I now want to start building another collection. Send help!
Try and stick with the QUALITY you already have. Cherish, adore and be mindful about your heirloom. Don't fall for the QUANTITY and the trap that acquires purchasing more and more.
I have always wanted a silver flatware set. I would give every piece of silver I have to have just that. And the fact you have a set handed down through family is quite special. Enjoy.
Lol...I can relate, but I never bought any, I just ended up with it. I'm feeling fortunate, because I love most of it and I'm trying hard to find excuses to actually use it.
I have to say, I actually learned something here. Lol I didn’t realize that napkins get starched. Makes sense why mine never look like they should. Thanks for this! Awe, you’re so sweet to make that for your friend. I’m sure she’ll love it!
Nicolas, I had a client who brought baked goodies on a lovely china plate. I mentioned that I would return the dish, he told me the dish was a gift and he told me he loved going to estate sales and yard sale so he could collect dishes that he could give with his baked goodies. My neighbor does this with vases so she always has vases to bring flowers to cheer people up. I started to do the same, it makes me feel good to let someone know there is no need to return the dish. I love your channel and you seem like a lovely neighbor and friend.
Hi Nicolas, wonderful vlog today . Also thank your subscriber who directed me to Kevin Lee Jacob. I enjoyed his vlog and content as well.Happy new year
Brilliant Presentation. I’ve Noticed That Elegance Has Diminished Over Time. This Chat Is Like A Breath, Of Fresh Air On A Beautiful Spring Day, Full Of Light And Grace. Thank You Nicolas. 🎩🥂
Nicolas, how very sweet of you to make cookies for your neighbor who's not feeling well. I think the word KIND clearly defines you. I remember watching my grandmother starching her everyday tablecloths and napkins. I do it now with my own linens, and yes, it could be very therapeutic! Wishing you (and Vanessa!) for 2023 all the success that you both deserve for which you are working so hard. A healthy and happy New Year for you and your families.
Thank you for reminding us elegance can be had without having $$. I’ve been telling myself to use my mothers china and silver set instead of storing it away in boxes(which they are now as I’m living in a small place and have to store the hutch I usually keep them in)….Something new to strive for in 2023! Love your videos🙋♀️👌
I feel elegant just watching you, Nicolas! I really enjoyed your teaching us that simple elegance is possible while performing tasks like starching/ironing linens, polishing silver, and showing thoughtfulness such as baking cookies for someone special. We need not spend a lot of money to enjoy elegant living, but it is in the way we perform tasks and indulge in tea, etc. Will be watching and enjoying more of your videos. Simple, elegant living is so enjoyable; thank you for reminding us. Your friend, Kathy
I’ll really be stepping up my elegance game in 2023 too. At my candlelight suppers this year I’ll be providing my guests with a polished silver chamber pot and a crisp pressed linen towel to wipe their arse with.
I must say, I always learn something new, by watching your videos. Not only do you inspire, but you also encourage, teach and generate kindness, peace, serenity and self appreciation, through your videos. Thank You.
Hi Nicolas. It’s a pleasure to watch yr videos. I learn every day from you, in the art of living and enjoy my home. You have an exquisite taste to decorate yr home. Thks for sharing it. ❤❤
Watching you and all the sweet and homey things you do is like a nice hot bath, soothing, relaxing and a happy experience. Thank you for your prompt help on my order,, it will be arriving sometime today.🥰
I am reminded of my beautiful mother and grandmother who would include me as a young girl in the table settings for special occasions .My job was to help polish the silver. When we would set the table and I would see the silver shining ,the crisp napkins , tablecloths and china with the glasses sparkling .I was so proud of the beauty we created. Now my daughter and little granddaughter are following in this family tradition, where simple elegance has always been a part of setting the table, even the coffee table as well. My granddaughter has added a new tradition where she creates handmade place cards.I so enjoyed this video. So kind of you to make your friend the cookies. I like to practice Qi Gong as a way to give me a peaceful start , or end to my day. Thank you for another lovely vlog and for always sharing beauty.
Can I also recommend Rajiv Sunedra, gosh I hope I've spelt his name right. He's based in N.Y. and he's absolutely fantastic with such an endearing personality. Check him out.
My mother would have starched like that and taken great pride in it. I'm more of a put it into the washing machine type 🤣 but admire the way you take your time and enjoy these things.
Omg you seem like such a wonderful person, and the best neighbor ever. My sister says I’m certified chaos but your videos just brings the kind of peace I wish I had in my life.
Hello Nicolas! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦! It is nice to have a wonderfully clean start to the year. Your neighbour, Lucy, is fortunate to have you; wrapping with your napkin was the perfect touch! In our household, my wife is blessing us by preparing meals with the "Instant Pot" that she received as a gift at Christmas. She tried a 3.5 lbs Pot Roast first, with amazing results. Four minutes prepares perfect Pasta; even Kraft Dinner Cheese & Macaroni tastes better from the Instant Pot. God Bless you, my elegant friend! ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦! A
I love cloth napkins and always use them. I grew up in a home that used cloth napkins for every meal. I guess my mom was cultivating sustainability long before it was popular! 😉☺️😊 Not only do I think they are much nicer to use than paper, they’re definitely more environmentally friendly! I’m not sure if it is available in the UK, but I have found Hagerty Silver Foam is so easy to maintain polished sterling and much easier than all the polishing and buffing some other silver polishes require. Using it is easy as washing dishes... just wet the sponge, dip into the silver foam (actually more of a soft paste that turns into a foam as you “wash” the silver), rinse and as you dry the piece you can give it a little buff, but generally just drying the pieces off, they are already shiny. No need for elbow grease unless there is a lot of intricate work on the piece with lots of nooks and crannies. I use a soft bristled brush to work in all the grooves and that’s about as much “elbow grease” as needed. It comes in a little 19 oz. white jar and is the easiest way I’ve found to keep silver gleaming. The only down side is you actually have to use it if you want your silver to shine... and currently my silver pieces could use a good once over! 😉🤦🏻♀️😂🤷🏻♀️ Hopefully this video will give me the needed motivation to take the time to remove some tarnish! 🥰🤞🏻☺️
Seeing you use the powdered starch brings back all the memories of starching my nurse’s cap when I was in school to be an RN. I graduated in 1982, and I don’t remember wearing the cap after I graduated and started working. I went to a hospital based school, and our training was very similar to the training in the UK where we spent many hours working in the hospital.
Hi Nicolas!!!! Thank you once again for the beauty you give us all in simply watching your videos! You are refreshing and timeless. The "art" of simply ironing was a treasure! I love to iron but I just don't take the time and that right there is your message to all of us...take the time to enjoy the little things. Thank you dear Nicolas!!! Peace and love!❤✨
Nicolas I love using my silver as often as I can, but the thing I dislike is the polishing. A friend shared with me how she polishes hers and I never looked back once I tried it. I actually get a real kick out of watching the process do the hard work for me. I place a piece of tinfoil sheet in my kitchen sink, I then layout my silver pieces on top of it. I cover them with boiling water, then sprinkle in some baking soda. Its amazing the silver comes out shiny and the foil comes out black. Give it a try especially with heavily tarnished silver it's so satisfying to watch the transformation take place. Love your content makes me feel elegant thinking about what I will implement once I finish watching.
Thank you so much for this Video. It reminded me of the days back in Romania, where my dear Grandma used to live in a nice house in the forest. She cooked near the fireplace for everyone and always took care of the ladies in the village since she has been a cutter. She also used to make these little notes and gave them to the ladies toghether with their dresses and some of her delicious sweets. She has always been elegant and I still adore her look. It was so nice to be reminded of bringing these Rituals back to my life... 🥰 have a great Day Nicholas. All the Best, Jennifer
Hello everyone - I am having a real issue with someone commenting here pretending to be me and telling people that they have won a prize. THIS IS NOT ME - PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND OR ENGAGE WITH THIS PERSON! Please block and report this person - thank you so much!
Yeah, a couple of other creators have had to warn us about this. Thanks for this message!
Thanks. I thought it really odd and knew there wasn’t a giveaway so I didn’t respond. Thanks for letting us know we were correct!
Thank you!
I think you should address it in one of your videos because not everyone is reading the comments. I have received a message from the scammers pretending to be you as well. I knew it was a fake account but some people may be tricked. Other UA-camrs have this problem too. I hope something can be done about it. Take care!
These people are despicable. Thanks for the warning Nicolas.
How amazing - thanks for sharing!
Very nice experience. Thanks for sharing. Zaida Puerto Rico
I am astonished that the silver polishing is not so arduous as I had thought! Thank you for the video!
Thanks for sharing!
My mom used to put damp linens in the freezer. I had forgotten about that, thanks for the reminder!
Same for me, I always helped my aunt with the ironing. Then she would teach me to sew. Loved my summers in Mobile, Alabama
Thanks for your kind comment!
I agree! Thank you!
I agree the world has become far to casual in many ways .
Nicolas, how kind of you to make cookies for your neighbor. I’m sure she appreciated them.
She was very appreciative! X
I absolutely love the way you describe elegance! As an anxiety coach, I am always looking for new ways to teach awareness and the way you bring intentionality to your every day is a perfect example I can share with my clients! Thank you for sharing this!
I might add, this video was extremely relaxing!
Just hearing your voice make me feel relaxed thankyou so much for all your lovely words and content🖐
Thank you for reminding us to enjoy beauty daily and to not horde it for "special" occasions.
My pleasure!
Yes ..😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
My pleasure!
A hint of lavender sounds nice
Sounds wonderful!
Ha, you're a sorcerer! The effect your videos have on me is amazing:
Just having finished my video calls, I see your new video.
Thank you!
I LOVED this comment! Thank you so much
You’re a trip my guy. If Hyacinth Bucket mated with an Abercrombie model, the end result would be Nicolas Fairford. And I’m living for it.
Nicolas...I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy your videos! Seeing you care for your neighbor is heartwarming too - we need more people like you in this world.
I AGREE WITH YOU.. HE IS A BEAUTIFUL OLD SOUL
We need more Males like Nicolas too!
I'm so happy to hear that - thank you!
What a lovely memory to share x
Using this old style of starching is the best. I usually use it for all linen clothes which I own a lot.AND I add for white clothes a tiny bit of indigo powder.
I love how Sophie begins to relax in the beginning of the video. She's a good example of elegant napping.😄🥰
Haha she is indeed!
The more I think about it the more I think you’re right. Being compassionate to people is the elegance of a great soul.
Well said.
Thank you so much for kindly sharing your experience and journey with the world.❌⭕❌⭕
Agreed. Well said.
Thanks Bill - you always say the nicest things!

Thank you for that tip. I will certainly try it as I love cut flowers!😍🇨🇦
What polish did you use? I have to polish. My favorite is a candleholder with a small imp riding a dolphin.
Kindness is the most elegant attribute. 🙂
You make everything seem so calming and relaxing. What a sweet man baking for your under the weather neighbor. XOXO David
thank you, David!
@@NicolasFairford You are very welcome sweet Nicholas!
So glad to hear that - Thank you!
Agree on all counts! Thank you!
Just came across your channel. It’s super relaxing! Really enjoy your content. Thanks so much
I love to entertain with my collection of china, silver, and crystal...and I do love polishing my silver.
You are a precious person Nicolas. This world has become so harsh and angry. You bring peace and beauty to it . Bless you sweet man !
How did you know I wanted to be elegant, love ur videos, love from Canada 🇨🇦
Nicolas, your spirit is beautiful! Love everything that you do ❤️
I love when you set your mind to a task it is in the spirit of mindfulness Nicolas. Your quote that Elegance is a mindset helps one to realize it is attainable. Namaste. ❤️
I'm really glad to hear that! Thank you!
I always love seeing your silver tea pot! It makes me so happy.
Your voice calms me so much. You inspire me to live a better life.
Your background literally doesn’t matter, don’t listen to the sad trolls.
Thank you so much, Robert! X
Barbara
Thank you so much !
My pleasure! Thank you!
I got something special from this video. Kindness is elegant indeed! Thank you Nicolas 🥰
Thank you Nicolas for your sweet kind and 'mundane' motivations! Much love to you!!
Thank you!
I always feel better when I see you with your sweet companion by your side!❤️❤️❤️
Much ❤from a fellow silver addict !
I’m about to take out the silver from my mom and get polishing…❤😂
I have always wanted a silver flatware set. I would give every piece of silver I have to have just that. And the fact you have a set handed down through family is quite special. Enjoy.
Lol...I can relate, but I never bought any, I just ended up with it. I'm feeling fortunate, because I love most of it and I'm trying hard to find excuses to actually use it.
I have to say, I actually learned something here. Lol
I didn’t realize that napkins get starched. Makes sense why mine never look like they should. Thanks for this!
Awe, you’re so sweet to make that for your friend. I’m sure she’ll love it!
So glad to hear that! Thank you!
I enjoyed his vlog and content as well.Happy new year
Brilliant Presentation.

thank you Nicolas

when you show the countryside and shops, is it like this everywhere, its so clean and cheerful?
Nicolas, how very sweet of you to make cookies for your neighbor who's not feeling well. I think the word KIND clearly defines you. I remember watching my grandmother starching her everyday tablecloths and napkins. I do it now with my own linens, and yes, it could be very therapeutic! Wishing you (and Vanessa!) for 2023 all the success that you both deserve for which you are working so hard. A healthy and happy New Year for you and your families.
Thank you so much ! Very kind x
Adding a dash of elegance to day to day life, I love it
Thank you for reminding us elegance can be had without having $$.
Very wise for such a young man
I’ll really be stepping up my elegance game in 2023 too. At my candlelight suppers this year I’ll be providing my guests with a polished silver chamber pot and a crisp pressed linen towel to wipe their arse with.
Stop being an arse hole.
Mr. Fairford, Thank you sir for always reminding each of us that living well is both a true honesty and frame of mind. Poigant, and beautiful.
Thank you for the wonderful atmosphere! You are a real aristocrat and gentleman! Namaste👃🙃
He is not an aristocrat- he is a lad from a housing estate in the Midlands with a High School educaton!
"I do not wait for a special occassion to use my best China" Well said Nicolas! Live for now! Live in the moment! That statement alone is powerful!
Between you and Kevin Lee Jacobs, I can live a less stressful life in these difficult days .
Thank you for the KLJ channel idea. I am looking forward to indulge...
Found KLJ Thank you so much.'🤩
Can I also recommend Rajiv Sunedra, gosh I hope I've spelt his name right. He's based in N.Y. and he's absolutely fantastic with such an endearing personality. Check him out.
Thank you for mentioning Kevin Lee Jacobs. On your suggestion I’ve just checked him out and agree that he is also an oasis of calm.
For years I would spray the clean sheets with lavender water and iron them.
Oi Nicolas aprecio cada gesto de carinho em tudo o que faz.
You are such a kind person. May your life be filled with blessings.
Your so organised and do everything so effortlessly ....such a lovely way to live in today's crazy world.Wish l could be more like you.
