My grandfather owns a ‘66 that he bought while in the army, back in his 20’s. It’s right outside right now. Love that thing to death

‘66 was the first/only year the 327 was an engine option. I believe you are correct on the 2-speed wiper switch, ‘66 only. Also, A/C became available as a dealer-installed option in ‘64. It was available from the factory starting in ‘65. I’ve read that seat belts became a government mandate in ‘66, however the only seatbelts I’ve ever seen in these trucks have always been something that an owner added. My ‘66 did not have them when I bought it and there is zero evidence it ever had them.
It’s a shame seeing that ‘64 large rear window cab rusting away like that. Guys everywhere are hacking up small rear window cabs to convert them. I think that’s a shame too. The small rear window cabs are one of those quirky/cool things that make old trucks more interesting than new ones.

I had forgotten about the seat belts in 66. I had heard that the 327 came out in 65 but I didn't know if they were an option in the truck's

Thanks for taking the time and sharing. I'm putting together a 64 but from what you showed me the frame I have is a 65 or 66 as the track bar has the threaded post on the rearend.

I'm happy to help. It could just be that the rear end was changed out with a 65 or 66 rear end because I think were the tracking bar goes on the frame is the same. But at the end of the day when it's going down the road no one knows.

New subscriber. My father bought a new 64 with a 283 three on the tree. My wife has the 66- 3/4 ton her daddy bought new in December of 65. We have a number of the 60 thru 72 trucks. We have a 55 that came factory with a 327 and a turbo 400 three speed trans. Its a 3/4 ton and has a 456 no spin differential. We have videos on our channel. One truck is a 60 that came with a V8 automatic and big back glass. and no stainless trim. Also the 6o thru 63 custom cabs have stainless steel cab sails. The GMC's had rear leaf springs.

Interesting video. If you really want to mess up what you know, look into Canadian GMC's. They were designated 910, 920, and 930. Both our 64 and 65 had the serial number plate between the driver's door hinges. The 65 has 2 speed wipers with an electric washer pump. Both trucks have Chev inline sixes and coil springs. They just played by different rules.

The hand brake in the cab is the same from 60 to 66 the cables are different on the rear axle 66 has a 3 cable system 65 and 64 have a two brake cable system I hope that answers your question. On the bin tags when I was making that video I wasn't intending on you having a VIN tag I was just simply pointing out the differences between the three years vintage can be swapped major mechanical Parts sometimes cannot be.

That being said, I didn't take the time, to view your video again, to provide commentary and/or corrections. One component is, each year of the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, Panels & Suburbans, has a one-year-only body badge and a year-specific location, as well as a Series-specific designation. Additionally, standard equipment, verses RPO's (regular production options), were clearly identified in the Chevrolet Truck Sales Data Book for years '60-'66.
