I wouldn't "believe" anybody, because a "good violin" can be a VERY personal thing! Especially if you do not have much money, I would advise you to try as many violins as possible! A "good violin" might still not be the one YOU want to play! Even in the same price range, they can sound very different! You might get the best/ cheapest violin, if someone you know does not play anymore and wants to loan or sell his old violin to you. I have two violins that both sound "good" to me, same tendency (darker sound), but a little different if you compare the same strings on both and one cost twice as much as the other.
Good advice. The ebay thing really applies to someone who already has a favorite violin and is willing to take a gamble. In the case of izdawhiz though, I've dealt with him enough to trust his opinion. He's a solid violin broker.
@@jrsforest187 i like because you tell allways the truth ! i see several times GREAT PROFESSIIONALS ,2 TIMES the 24 last months , test in Blind a dozen of Violin in a "price fork" bettween 1500 and 35 000 $ (moderns builtss...shiny or maxi 10 years second hands) 2 favorites was a Chinese KAIMING AROUND 2000$ buildt with great old wood.. and a 5000$ French Luthier Buildt in 2017 ! 2 was Guarneri ..(..no need to specify thant i order for me sames instuments after that !!!!!) around 2009 i assist same luthier for same exercise and its a 2000$ "passion& tradition" chinese which be choose by Violon solo of a National band( and second price of consevatory !!!!! ) in a panel (12/15 violin ??? not remember) of mix old and new violins bettw (Chinese..Romanian..Cremona..Germany.. between 500$ and ..an old cremonese 200 000 $ !!!!!!! ) he retain the 200k Old cremonese and the 2k $ Passion and Tradition (Stradivari). lol he can thanks his father because he buy the Both ( Father love Lamborgjinis...son prefer violins lool) !!!! . i know another professionnal which prefer his 4000$ chinese than his 25 000$ make by a great Luthier..
@@jrsforest187 for all these reasons, concept of "student violin" is absurd for me over 1000/1500$ . and if you like littles anecdotes,know that...in all cases ,never "little 500/600 $ violin" allways present in our blind test arrive in last place NEVER !!!!!!!! and sometimes its a 7/15 k$ which be eliminated on first !!!!!!. ..ps 500$ violin is a Chinese Violin improved by great strings,sound post and bridge optimised in Tuning. Luthier chose it for test around 2005 year. its a violin among other but which have a better projection capabilies (maybe a thiner table at strategic point..thank pure chance.) !
Get a cheap Chinese violin kit and assemble it yourself and by doing so you will learn how great violins are made and will then be able to buy one that is made well and does not cost much . Most of the sound quality is due to the person that assembled the instrument and not so much the parts of the instrument. Great secrets for hundreds of years. Tonal clarity and loudness and fittedness for the player are created by the person that assembles the violin.
