Midea Dehumidifier Detailed Review - Mostly Good, Sort Of

  • We bought the Midea Dehumidifier on a whim at Sam's Club in early spring. We knew Tennessee is more humid than California where we recently moved from. We have been using the units for a few months with mixed results, but the unit is good overall. This serves as a review and overview of features and I also took time to explain how the main features work. I think I would purchase the unit again, but if there was a better price on a different brand, that might sway my decision.
    Strange ending, let me know what you think in the comments.

    How did it make your room feel? Was it dryer less sticky?? And was it worth the price. Does it heat up?

      Being from California and not being used to the humidity this made a very noticeable difference! It made us feel like we're still in California! We did have to empty it a lot though but as time went we got used to the humidity and now we keep it on low and feel fine. If there is substantial humidity you will feel a big difference running it on high for a few hours.

    Loved mine until it died in month 13. The compressor no longer works and the warranty is only good for 12 months. So Midea recommendation is to get it fixed myself.

      Thanks for sharing, that's good to know. I purchased 3 from Sams Club so when one went bad (loud vibration sound and no dehumidification) I was able to return it for a full refund. I hope you can find a resolution and I'm sorry it turned out that way.

    I think I got screwed. I purchased 2 because it said "with pump" but mine didn't come with the hose, it doesn't have a pump button, and the spot where the pump tube connects has a plastic cover that I'd have to break to access :-( At least it appears I'm not missing much without the pump. Thank you for the video

      I think it's because there isn't a good seal in our home and the humidity gets in easily. We live in Tennessee, the humidity here is quite high. Thank goodness for these dehumidifiers though, that really makes a difference!

      I'm not sure, but I think it's the thing that can sometimes flip down when opening the tray, although, I think that's for pumping the water out so again I'm not sure how it knows to stop.

      The only thing I see when I look it up is the Midea 1500, I think because it's made for spaces up to 1500 square feet. Do u have to have a pump?

    • @HappyCamperDeals
      @HappyCamperDeals  2 роки тому +2

      You don't have to have a pump. In fact this unit's pump is not that useful and the tube leaked on me more than once. Also, the tube that sucks water out of the bin only reaches half way, so even if you use the pump, it can only empty the unit half way. Lastly, the pump is very loud and makes a rattling sound. I don't use the pump any more and it is not necessary if you just empty the bin manually as it gets full.

    Does it blow out hot air

    • @HappyCamperDeals
      @HappyCamperDeals  2 роки тому +3

      That's a great question! It generally blowes cool air but after some time it will change to warm air. All good dehumidifiers work this way because the moisture could feeeze without some way to warm up the system. The way a dehimidifier draws moisture from the air is by some rods that get cold. As the air passes through it, moisture condenses onto the metal and removes the humidity from the air. After running for some time, it gets so cold, tge moisture can begin to freeze and it could diminish performance so it has a built in heating system. Unfortunately, you cannot control the air temperature, it just goes from cool to warm as the unit detects what is best.

    Don't be surprised if this thing doesn't last more than a year. I've had 2 and both have not. They stop functioning as intended. You can search up several reviews with people stating the same.

    This video has little to no value. The pump works and exists solely so you do not need to use gravity to drain it (which is what you did if you elevated it to drain). Mine came with a pretty decent owners manual, so not sure what your issue was there. I saw an error code at one point in your video which MIGHT mean your pump is malfunctioning??? The wifi works and IS EXCELLENT. Lame video in general...
