I just love the heck out of all of your albums. Is there any chance to ever get any sheet music from you, e.g. assuming many people asked for it and/or were willing to pay for it? I would *really* love to play a few of these (also the ones from the In Retrospect album!), but figuring out the arrangement by ear is just way beyond my skill level. On the same note, I would also greatly appreciate some kind of tutorial for fellow pianists where you explain your approach / working process for figuring out these arrangements. Are there any specific tools you use for repeatedly listening to the same sections of the songs again and again while working on the arrangements? I'm classically trained and just don't know how to start figuring out something like that...
I just "dig" deep into the analysis of the song structure, try to decipher and isolate every single instrument, and find its place on the keys.. as for the tutorial, I might do something in the future for my fellow pianists, but that is yet to be decided how/when.. Thank you Niko
@@cvekler What if there was a kickstarter or something to make it worth your while? And if not for sheet music just having an overhead view of you playing would help a lot in figuring these out. I would transcribe them to sheet music if I had the time/abilities...
Your ability to arrange these complex compositions for a single instrument so well never ceases to amaze me. Opeth is one of my favourite bands, and I listen to your piano compilations just as often nowadays. You are a great genius and deserve more recognition for your work!
it's when you get stripped down versions like these that you notice how genius Opeth's music (and your playing & arrangements) is. I couldn't thank you enough, kind sir, for bringing these versions to life!
Maybe you didn't know, Opeth is an autumn band ;) For me September-October are the best months to listen to them. "Orchid", "Morningrise", "My Arms Your Hearse", "Still Life", "Blackwater Park", "Deliverance", "Damnation", "Heritage" are absolutely autumn's albums. But "Ghost Reveries" and "Watershed" are for May-June
I actually realized right now that I've also listened to another Opeth cover from him about ten years ago... didn't make the connection until I read your comment! :D
This is yet another moment in my life, that confirms that no matter what will happen further in my life further, I have felt, seen, heard, experienced enaugh to never doubt worth of my birth on Earth, and it were enaugh just for it. Thank you kindly good sir. As a musician myself I send you a great respect for the job you have completed, for sweat and headaches, for willpower to finish what you have started. Thank you.
Such skill! Such talent! Such attention to detail. Such perfection. This is in all honesty a masterpiece that deserves to be exposed on every museum together with the originals as a study on how to transcribe. It's creative, yet unbelievably accurate and just towards the originals. It's a transcriptional piece of art. The ear you have for de- and recomposing this complex stuff is proof of some very impressive and almost surreal analytic skills. It's breathtaking the way that you succeed in making the piano sound like an orchestra retaining the melancholy, beauty, elegance, rhythm and intensity of these songs. Simply can't praise this enough. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world! You're absolutely world-class awesome, Niko!
What I really like here is how precise the emotion is brought with a high subtility. I wanted to listen a part then another once in a while, it actually is but for the whole arrangement.
Would love a physical copy of both Opeth and Katatonia Suites! Your work amazes me. Would honestly like to hear your renditions of Porcupine Tree as well.
@@Sonic_sorceress Yes, it has such an atmosphere. Mikael's side project with Steven Wilson had a song called Drag Ropes and the video they did told a very similar story to Still Life
Amazing. But... still nothing at all from Opeth's first two albums? Please attempt Advent, To Bid You Farewell or Black Rose Immortal. They're sublimely beautiful.
You just got the key to the metal heaven man, the god of metal is please with your work! Those two Opeth set are magnificent. Honestly my only sadness is that this one isn’t starting with The Moor, which is the best metal album intro of all time. A perfect rise of intensity to start a progressive album. But anyway! Good job!!!
Dear, oh dear. I am only near the end of Eternal rains and some of he grace notes in there ... brilliant .. and as with the previous stuff .. you get the message of the original across so well .. superb job .. AGAIN .. :-)
*Nikola uploads a new Opeth album* : "BEST DAY EVER". *Album doesn’t include To Bid You Farwell* : "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined". JK, i really loved it.
I actually did record almost half of the song, but it eventually went to the trash bin. I simply didn't feel it, and wasn't working out. Also, for some reason, not a big fan of that particular song. I love some of its moments, but not in its entirety.. Thanks anyway! Cheers
@@cvekler Not even a problem man it's just i was kinda waiting for it. It's a long and hard song with heavy parts and that fretless bass would be a pain in the ass to arrange.
You're doing every band that I love. And I didn't see anyone else doing this. You're the only one dude. Please keep going and don't give up. Your music makes my mind peaceful.. 💕
What a fucking masterpiece! My god you're all blessed my G!! Can't believe the rendition of Bleak its so precise! I'd like to have the music sheet please it looks so fun to play! WELL DONE
As I already mentioned in some previous comment, my audience is too small, it would cost me a whole lot to put all of these on Spotify since they are not originals, but if my following grows over time, then I might do something about it. I hope so. Thank you

And now you realize the Opeth chords progression is amazing
Now for the first time? 😅
You didn’t before????
Nah this just confirms it again, but what made me fall in love with opeth are the creative ass chord progressions Mikael crafts, pure perfection.
.... However I have always knew that 😉
Opeth is literally the most important band in my life, your work is so beautiful I am crying. Thank you for this!
best band in the world
reason i got into Vinyl
É a banda mais importante da minha vida, cresci ouvindo ela até hoje. Quando vi esse esse novo álbum do Nikola fiquei muito feliz.
My fav prog band used to be Dream Theater. I like Opeth since hearing them first in 2005. They are my fav prog metal band now.

I like how you don't just "cover", you actually try to put your small interpretation on it. Perfect.

С обзиром да је у питању бенд, који се код нас ретко слуша, а мени је један од најомиљенијих, ово је савршено. Свака част дечко, само грувај.
Bleak, Hope Leaves, The Moor? Damn I didn't know christmas came in October
