I love these old documentaries that treat the subject seriously and in depth, unlike some you find on UA-cam that expect you to learn bout something or someone in 30 seconds. Oddly this doco doesn’t explore his writing but learning about the man behind the literature is valuable.
I have a print of the picture of Swift and Stella. I have had it since 1975. I love it so much. I have always wondered where the painting is located. Thank you for this story. Now my print has so much more meaning to me.

I've noticed a lot of spam comments on videos and UA-cam channels. I always report comments like that. I've reported spam and p**n comments on here. Please everybody, report comments like that when you see them. They don't belong here! 🙏
Swift called it 300 years ago-our species moral progress won’t ever catch up to our technical progress, so, in the end, we’ll Laputa ourselves. Correct.
Would the Jews have committed the final solution on the Nazis if the roles were reverse with population in 1930s Germany for some scenario of human nature. I wonder if they would have done the exact same things to the Germans if they were the majority in Germany during 1939 after ww1. I am starting to think yes they would.
He was nearly 78. I am descended from Swift's youngest paternal uncle, Adam Swift, who practiced law, through his daughter, Anne Swift Perry. Our family doesn't suffer from dementia, in fact, we kind of enjoy it. Encountering talking horses in our dreams is a trait, or affliction, that has affected many individuals in our family for generations, including myself.@@devikabrendon7198
Of course, if Dean Swift wasn't actually a Swift, but rather a Temple bastard, that would somewhat change my perspective. I would be, genetically, still a Swift, but he would not. Very confusing!

Fascinating. Enjoyed every supposition....I'm sure Swift would have, as well!
Thank you! Wonderful documentary 🙏
Thanks for uploading, I wanted to do some background research on A Modest Proposal
His masterpiece, I believe.
Too much preoccupation with his private life in this documentary..borders on prurient gossip.
Thanks for sharing 👍
My pleasure 👍

So interesting to learn about a writers life.
A very interesting documentary. I have learned a great deal. It's interesting to know that coffee was a popular drink back then.
For his modest proposal alone he should be forever remembered.

Very soon, in fact! At least as measured on an historical scale.
Thanks. Can you upload Hossick's documentary on Dante if you can get it?
I found a copy. Stay tuned...
@@AuthorDocumentaries awesome. Thanks
Why did Swift give his female friends pseudonyms?
please please please a video on S. T. coleridge
Why is this version of his life focused on his love life not his literary life? Weird.
I agree! Way too much time spent on the two women in his life and not on his literary works.
Could you maybe add English subtitles? Thanks a lot for sharing 😊
Have to think the Clare dude is from the once mighty Clare family that came over with William in 1066. Just has that look.
It’s really looking like there are no good people just geography and group power of the majority.
who is Dean swift?
Seriously? Jonathan Swift, Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral - Dublin.
the narrator of his writings reminds me of Sideshow Bob

From my readings Swift may have suffered from what these days call dementia at the end of his life.
Swift was nearly 80 when he died - far outliving many of his contemporaries.

Lol, I’m going use that one on my lady. “Hey baby, I want to drink your coffee.”
