She only gets $1,000 a month and her hospital pension is $200 month because she was laid off after the hospital closed. Thank God the bank didn't close the account so my SSI will be deposited Tuesday. This land of opportunity isn't working right...

Exactly. I'm in the same situation as your mom. We had a business and good retirement plans. But my husband began having strokes at the same time I was starting cancer treatments. In my day, you paid your bill and you didn't ask for handouts. I remembering working in the high school cafeteria to earn my lunch. Anyway, we continued paying the mortgage and $50 co-pays for each and every doctor visit. Eventually everything we saved was gone. Now I am a widow and thankful for my two rooms and my son's help. Women like me can walk past the homes where we raised our children. People live there under section 8. I can watch them having dinner. Yesterday I went out for bread. People were there using their food cards to buy big bags of chips. Money wasted. I have a peanut butter sandwich. This is our government working to destroy our country.
