The boat deserves to be in a museum , used periodically for possible fundraising etc. Hopefully a multimillionaire buys it & donates it to a museum. If it was here in Europe id love to see it.
This was designated as a patrol craft experimental design with four gasoline engines when constructed. The regular PT boats were made of plywood and were built by Elco & Higgins powered by three Packard engines.
That’s not exactly true. They weren’t made of plywood. Laminated double diagonal mahogany and glue impregnated canvas. For the hull skin. Indeed some ply was used but for gusset reinforcement mostly
I believe this to be one of the prototypes. Doesn't have the classic lines of Elco, but still an amazing piece of PT history. Might be an interesting addition to Charleston harbor - Patriots Point. Take a spin out to Ft. Sumter and the Battery in an operational display.
@@hdvallarta Sure, it technically "saw service" in WW II. After it was reclassified as a District Patrol Craft (YP110), the service was inshore patrol in the area near New Jersey and Delaware in 1942. By Jan 1943 it was out of service, and stricken from the Register. This PT has been for sale in one place or another since 2008.
A friend of mine's family in Biloxi, Mississippi (the Stevens family) bought a surplus wooden PT Boat and turned it into a yacht. They got a lot of use out of it before Hurricane Camille destroyed it in 1969. The father also owned the nightclub that Jayne Mansfield played in right before her death.
Offer it to the British Government. We have a problem with illegal immigration from France and across the English Channel. It's a snip - as it is we pay about £ 5 million a day to house illegals in hotels.
Send it to Ukraine it might make it there in one piece. It's a gamble, but just think if a 1940s torpedo boat with upgraded torpedoes gets a kill on a Russian ship. Headlines for days! I'm just dreaming here.
it'll go so fast they've already reduce price once. Just imagine how fast it goes when price is reduced again!
need to move the decimal point to the left one number

They were actually two layers of mahogany not plywood.

The amount of plywood used is a myth, dude.
amazing a cartel hasn't bought this ❤

Yes this is a prototype. It did see service in WW2. One of one

Does it come with torpedoes? Asking for a friend.
Awsome, shure if I had the bucks.
I thought this was UA-cam, not 'boats for sale". Be sure to leave a thumbs down!
Er maybe Franko...me, u and the other guy can put our pocket money together and buy it? 🙃
Nice
This would be great at Battleship Park in Fall River, MA, if they had the room, to go with the Atlantic and Pacific PT's they have on display there.
No low balling, I know what I’ve got!!

Do I get the Skipper, Commander McHale and the PT 73 crew that would be the icing on top
I think they could dig him up if the offer was authentic.
Is this the boat that has been in Louisiana outside of Franklin?
Yes.
It will take a lot of time, work and money to bring it back to original condition.
The hardest part would be to source the two 21-inch torpedo tubes. She also needs a new mast
@@sirboomsalot4902 I’m surprised the PT Boat Museum in Fall River Mass hasn’t picked it up.
It's probably still for sale.. 🤷
I could build a copy for way less than that. Only if I liked it.
I see it has a trailer for taking it on family vacations....
Riveted aluminum , not wood.
call Dave Sparks...quick...lol
last prize, brother?!
5K for the boat n 12K for the trailer!?
😁
They likely would not take my check. Anyway, it is far too big and long for my dock space.
I'm gonna need a bigger garage.
Ha haaaaaaaaaa
If i can just win the lottery.
I need
Going so fast the price dropped 50%.
Not exactly an easy to sell boat. So owner is motivated 🤔
Had the money
Did it sell? Where’s she dry docked now?
She has not sold she is outside New Orleans.
Maybe a museum, otherwise to much base price to do a refit!!
All aluminium. Better than ply.
Where are the torpedo launchers?
They were removed when she was decommissioned in 1943, but they would have been on the back deck
The only way you're gonna get me to shell out that kinda money is if it's an Elco with three Allison V-12's in it...
Are you people out of your minds?
You need to get a better text-to-speech

But it is missing all the good stuff. Trash that awful music.
honestly could only give 350 max... sorry must are going to convert this boat.... not keep it original 650 is way to high
uhhhh no
