Does this give you a different perspective on how you carry?
Absolutely..... mindset first
@@khenry4562 Definitely mindset!
“Man without a knife is a man without a life”
John wick
Thanks for this segment! It did give me a couple of thoughts on using the backpack more.
This guys looks as humble as his proficiency. Gonna take a look at the full episode. He’s legendary.
It was great to have Tom on the show.
My thoughts exactly. He looks like a mild mannered high school English teacher.
“I’m a little arrogant.. there will be weapons around” what a cold line, what a legend
what a good gov lap dog he is
Backpack
COMBAT APPLICATION TOURNIQUET (C-A-T)
Spartan Blade folder
Staccato CS pistol (13 rounds), iron sites but trying to switch to Trijicon RMR.
Once you go rmr you’ll realize how much of a game changer optics are. Also if you’re carrying a backpack I recommend at least one more cat tq & at minimum a personal stop the bleed kit.
Looks like the Spartan Nemec folder too
He actually said he already switched but was getting used to it
He carries 1 item….a big set of brass balls!!!! 😅
😂
Spoon is THE GNARLIEST WARRIOR to ever sit in that seat. Warrior Poet... done more in and out than most. Truly Legendary human being
It's a shame he's still affected by some fudlore but definitely worthy of respect
Carrying a gucci 2011 is the most oldschool Delta Force Operator EDC I can imagine haha
I'm sure his free gun came with a hefty endorsement check. In all of his unit pics he carried a Glock but those aren't the guys writing endorsement checks.
He such a great person! I’m grateful and thankful for he and his wife and their facilities, ‘Warriors Heart’. It saved me from my addictions and wreck-less ways! Ty Tom!
Giving a Sig to a man who is carrying a $4k edc 😂
I'm gonna guess that the Sig becomes a gun that's hidden as a back up in his house . My retired operator pal has many pistols including a $3000 1911 but his battle belt has a Glock .
I cannot wait for this full interview.. Amazing work continues Shawn. Thank you 🙏
It’s a great one!
I'm looking forward to the full interview. It's amazing how so many of the Tier 1 guys Shawn has on his show come off as quiet and humble and unassuming. Tom seems to even more so than most, and it's almost hard to comprehend that guys so humble are the most dangerous men in the room.
No, it is the quiet ones you should fear.
Staccato. Wasn't expecting that one. Been seeing those grow super popular lately.
Not cheap!
Yeah, popular with the wealthy. 🤑
Very popular
@@silvermine2033 won't catch me spending 2k+ on a single pistol lol
@ShawnRyanShow I'd love to try one out. But definitely wouldn't own one. I could get a new Sig P365 variant plus attend a really solid training course for the cost of one Staccato lol
Shawn I have been subbed to your channel when you had less than 5k subscribers. You are a perfect example of hard work and perseverance pays off. I have never been happier to see someone reach 1 mil then 2mil and so on as I was watching your channel grow. In my opinion and also a few friends of mine feel the same, you and your show both have surpassed Rogan. He may have bigger numbers but your shows have substance. You don’t interview people just to put a video out. I hope you and your team never change the way you do things sir. Thank you for your service to the country!!
Yeah i been following since navy seal pocket dump when he was rocking the g43. That was the easiest one to carry. 43x is awesome the g48 was fun for years also
Most people dont carry their Stoccato because its a $2500 plus gun, plus i dont think they make a micro pistol or even one small enough to easily conceal. This guy knows what that Staccato is actually for! Respect Mr Spooner, youre an absolute legend
Kind of wild that they “present” the pistol and don’t actually gift it
They’re being extra cautious about private transfers.
@@chemistryofquestionablequa6252 hmm I guess that makes sense
@@chemistryofquestionablequa6252 Unfortunately, you're correct!
This is just Shawn selling Sig because they sponsor him.Shawn carried a Glock 43 for a long time before he started this whole Shawn Ryan Show.He loved the Glock platform but now-he sold out to Sig Sauer.
Everyone he’s had on the show-when he asks what they carry-not one person actually carries everyday except Kyle Morgan-this I know because I met him and took a class at Blue Bearing Solutions.
@@irishdefense77. Sold out might not be the right words. He might of just switched his stance with a little persuasion.
A man with his skills needs only a #2 pencil for close work.
Like the joker?
Or John wick lol

Thank you for this intervue! It’s super good to hear this dude that know stuff and thought thing thru before they give advise.
I met Tom in the 90’s while he was in the 504 PIR… I served in the same platoon as Scot (D 4/325 AIR), his brother.
didnt scott go to the unit as well?
In this case as part of EDC, the people need to know who makes Tom's shirt, because that thing is a perfect blend of style that also says "I know what desert night camo is"
Tom has a great personality Shawn. Greatly appreciate you bringing him on the show and his experienced perspective!
Thank you, gentlemen. Mindset FIRST. Then training, tactics & lastly, hardware. I’m like most guys, tempted to focus first on hardware, but as you say, I’ve already considered the mindset. Looking forward to the entire interview.
Excellent answer on #1 carry mistakes made. Knowing when to ....
What does a delta force operator carry everyday? The weight of the world on his shoulders 🇺🇲🇬🇧. God bless them all and thank you brother in arms 🇬🇧
Slight correction: Carrying a HP in NJ outside of one’s owned/leased property (home/business), with few other exceptions, is a _felony_ charge per round possessed-not just a fine. Polymer-filled rounds like Critical Defense and Duty and non-expanding rounds (e.g., Xtreme Defenders) are _not_ considered HPs under NJ “law.” PTC holders are subject to this HP-carry ban, too. LEOSA-covered individuals are exempt from the HP ban.
Tom Spooner just said’ “ sometimes I carry, but when I’m in a school zone. You gotta know your laws.”
This should be a wake up call for every American. Every man women and child would benefit from this man carrying at all times. Even the most decorated warrior is concerned about being “me too’d”
Can't wait for the whole episode. I have seen Tom speak on other podcasts and I have tried to listen to them all. I am sure this will be great
From seemingly out of nowhere…. Shawn Ryan changed it all!!!!
I was kinda bummed when he stopped the pew pews but man, what he has done after…..? AMAZING!!!! You just never know your calling until after you are doing it. ❤️
PTSD/paranoia…..love ya brother. Thank you for your service.
Bad ass mo fo
Bad Mo Fo
This was a good one! I like the premade vs emotional decision argument
This is gonna be fire…saw him in an American gunfighter clip years ago. Cool to see that you have him on the show now 👌🏽
The old Northern Red clips for BCM, they were awesome
Yes dude! I think I put in a request on the site at least twice to have Tom on and his brother who served in the unit at the same time. Dude has done a ton for his country and even more I’d argue for combat vets coming home. Can’t wait for this episode. 👍
One of the deadliest men on the planet displays such amazing humility. Thank you for your service and thank you for introducing us. BTW love my Sig 365 Macro Tacops, my EDC.
Love it when you bring the heavyweight class to your show - eyes will be on it!

I carry a Spartan!
I have three of the SHFs and two of the SHF 3.5s.
I also just got a Difensa.
I can’t carry all the time but when I do it’s a Glock 19X in an AlienGear holster.
I’m definitely watching the entire interview….. know the man well ….. a prince !!!!
Great interview Shawn, always appreciate your videos.
Excellent interview. Especially talking about criteria for pulling a weapon/using it 👌👌👌👌
I'm pumped for this one! Thanks SRS!!
You’re welcome!!
Thank you
Staccato.. must be nice to have money they're only $4 Grand..... I love when Shawn gives his guests a sig 365 like he said that is amazing gift!!!
Considering what he has been through to have the money to afford one. Well deserved for him!
The carry model is "only" 2.5k. But also, if you're carrying a Staccato, and somebody gifts you a 365, I doubt you'd be thrilled. Its like having a lambo, and then somebody gives you a tesla...
@@davidoconnor1773I don’t think true gun guys wouldn’t be happy. Most want another gun in the collection
@@davidoconnor1773 what? Dude, a gifted quality firearm is awesome and I’m sure he is thrilled. I have a Staccato XC but EDC my macro and love it.
@@jakesnyder4199 Yeah, but he's EDC'ing his Staccato, he's already at the top of the mountain. I've carried a 365 for several years and put quite a few rounds through a CS (but never owned one), they're not at all in the same conversation. I just find it a little annoying because they're not really gifts, its Shawn being paid by Sig to shill for them (just like GBRS, Mike Glover, and so many others), which is why he always mentions the anecdote about it being designed from the magazine up. Overall I think the 365 has become overrated in people's minds due to Authority Bias (the XMacro doesn't even really make sense as an EDC/emergency gun), and Sig has just been screwing its customers for the last 5 years with their crazy price gouging and unlimited barely-differentiated derivative models. The "organic" promo during these kind of segments is par for the course for them now.
Oh I want one!!!! Canada sucks. We can't buy or sell, trade nothing up here. Ridiculous.... Government needs to stay out of my gun safe. What a joke! I sooooooo want one. I went on the website and checked the specs out. I'm excited to get one one day!!!!❤❤
Can’t wait for the full show. Know his story is incredible
Can’t wait. Been here since the beginning watch or listened to every episode. really love the story’s
Hey Shawn, loved the direct questions about faith in Jesus Christ in the JP interview, keep pressing on brother!
such an unassuming man, with mad skills. Wow! Props!
Righteous guy. Thank you Shawn! ;)
Hypnotizing 😵💫 Yes Master.
Love your show here in canada, your guest seems like a good man in more things than just soldiering. Hoping you could bring someone on your show to highlight how messed up things are up here in the north. We need change big change just like our brothers down south do. Heres hoping we can all come together and make something happen. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Look at dopey the prime minister😢
Excellent - watching tonight specifically from a Psych perspective. Thank you. Crap, thank you both.
I am anticipating the day when a guest is a true Glock Guy and denies Shawn’s advance to give away “Jason’s” card. Lol
Can't wait to the full episode!!
This reminds me of blade exchanges from older warrior cultures. It is a blessing to see things like this happen and not to just hear stories after the fact.
Not sure about all that being able to kill part, if you take it out, must use it. I hear it all the time. However, have any of these guys heard of deterrence? Nukes are good example, no need to use it, just talk about it, and a lot of adversary f-off. Plus here is fbi stat, 82% of fights end up when adversary see a weapon. So just brandishing in a good way, deters most of the fights. Once in use (those 18%), fight lasts 3-10 seconds, is within 10 feet, and 3-5 or 2-5 shots is fired. So he was right about carrying a lot capacity plus mag (no need). Everyone is into 10+1 and up. Meanwhile 7+1 would definitely do. Put in civil defense, underwood, buffalo bore ammo and you good. To me, 357 sig is where its at, i wish there was nice 7+1 out there. shield 40 conversion to 357 is nice, but i would not want to modify pistol, during trial is no good. 357 sig 50gr, goes basically rifle speed (2300fps) from 4 inch. 10mm 65/68 gr goes 2400, but 10mm is not for everybody, meanwhile 357sig is like turbo 9mm.
" LEGEND" nuff said!
Tom Spooner saved my life when he opened up warriors heart with Josh and Lisa lannon. I am Warriors heart number 33 and I am alive today because of Tom Spooner.
Epic gift and advice, stay classy. Cheers🙌🤙
I carry the 365 tacops macro, love that gun. I have always wondered what makes the legion series so much more expensive
Can't wait to listen to this episode!
Enjoying this channel. Thx
Great Show Shawn!
I didnt expect the cs to be his carry. It is so refreshing to hear the older generation carry "cool" edc
I love listening to them with all of the 'guy speak'. Like Shawn's the one that can get answers like that, b.c they know he knows & ease up w him. But could you start putting word overlays on the screen of what all the acronyms & technical terms are, for us non hunting city girls. Even that 'iron site' had me for a minute, lol. Love these interviews!!
This is why SRS is the shit. He asked a very important question. “What is the decision making process like for you?”
Nobody else asks things like that.
Of all the legends and unique people from various backgrounds that Shawn has had on, I’m most pumped for this one.
Thanks Shawn
I’m psyched for this interview Shawn definitely knows the guys to talk with
I've enjoyed your content from the beginning
I appreciate you and what you do
As an American, I'm a bit embarrassed that I knew so very little about USSF, maybe the fact that much of what they do is not common knowledge.
Much respect
God Bless America
I'm sure he's killed with a pencil before John Wick...
Its usually glock or sig for most. The g48 has been the underated one for me. Yes its a tiny bit longer than g43x but its been a great ccw. The 43x feels alot better though.
One of the most lethal men on the planet yet as humble as anyone you could meet.
I live in a nice area and have been accosted twice at my local grocery store. Had someone try to rob me in the parking lot but I successfully dissuaded him. Had someone else try to fight me in an aisle. I was able to use some verbal judo to deescalate the situation. He reluctantly apologized and walked away. Best outcome. I'm 60 years old btw. I'm now driving a bit further to an even nicer area to get my groceries.
I’m saving up for a Staccato P.
But I’m just an apprentice. So it’ll be awhile Mr Shawn.
He reminds me of a modern day andy Griffith, "you don't carry a pistol andy?," no I have one near by if I need it."
Everyone who’s handed the pistol box always assumes you are gifting them the pistol lol
Because it's wierd and awkward
It’s just because there is weird laws about transferring fire arms privately. Gotta be careful. I’m sure Shawn would give it if he could.
@dustinpayton4612 then just have it transfered through a dealer. This whole "call buddy who has something similar he might give you" is strange and hard to watch. Like either give the guest the fucking thing or just leave it out of the show
I can honestly say.. if your method of target acquisition with a pistol is to look at the target then bring your sights to it, a red dot is superior. I resisted for a few years then transitioned, made my shooting about 25% faster and more accurate (I am a medium skilled shooter so YMMV).
This is going to be awesome!!!!!
If I had to guess, just by looking at him, I would've said he's a college math or history professor.
Right?! 😂
Perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover.
That’s the great part about that.
He could pass for a teacher. But a teacher that could take down 20 of any of your every day walking the streets criminals at the same time.
Knife, p365, flashlight, on person. Medkit and M-4 in vehicle
How u got an m4? Im not the ATF just askin
Yup chad robichaux got me into the Smith and Weston equalizer now Shawn Ryan about to get me to buy the Sig 365 legion instead of Springfield echelon 😅 .... @Shawn have your buddy at sig send a couple of 15 round versions to Illinois FFL dealers for state compliance 😅 .... Please and thank you sir.
Outstanding EDC pocket dump , one of your best , said the AARP guy
This guy looks like a simple guy working hardware at Home Depot. But, can literally rip up an entire neighborhood of gangsters!
How are most of you keeping it in the truck?
I’ve never felt good about it as I have small kids, always climbing around. I’ve seen some safes that can fit under the seat, but that also seems cumbersome.
My SIG 365X is great with a Hollison one MOA (I think) red dot although if I’m honest, I still don’t like parallax and iron sites feel faster.
Agreed
@@LauraleyB❤
Staccato CS? We got a baller! 😂
I like this guy already 👍
Outstanding guy!
Glock 19, Trijicon night sights, 13 in the 15 mag , follow up mags are Glock 17 mags, easier to manipulate when/ if your hands are injured or bloody.
I've been CCW for 35 years , never had to pull it out, but if it does come out it's sending rounds.
Dry fire at the television. The images only stay on screen for a few seconds. And you get good at targeting the available center of mass.
“Just some weirdo with loads of views“ He’s totally talking about Hop 😂
GREAT VIDEO MY FRIEND SHAWN
Thank you!
Honest Outlaw for good gun reviews
Probably the most legendary guest youve had yet.
Looks like a Spartan Field Grade Nemec folder.
That folder is Spartans version of the Eck commando knife.
Wow, his calm kind style says allot about him.
We need Michael Rutledge for the next episode, the dude is a Navy seal and then joined 160 SOAR and became a pilot, class act dude.
Shawn, he's right about NJ. If you ever find your way into our hellhole state make sure you're running hornady critical defense/duty. There are other options like cor bon or certain winchesters etc etc but if you want to play it safe 99% of people have polymer tipped hornady because state police specifically name that ammo. Just a heads up 🤘😎
Nothing but respect!
Stacatto for the range but 365xmacro or 43x for EDC.
The p365 x macro shoots so well! Id be so stoked to receive a gift like that.
I feel old I carry my Colt Delta Elite 10mm no optic 2 spare mags have had it for 35 years
