Genuinely a great bit of journalism. Love that it just became a story about exploring one of Auckland's stranger subcultures (without condeming or making fun of them). Siren battles can be annoying, but I'd hate for them to be shut down or pushed out of an area because of it.
Agreed, NZT if you put some work into these I'm sure you will find a lot of success. My basic suggestion is putting New Zealand today at the end. (Even still though the title could become even more click baity even though I hate to say it) E.g: Who’s blasting Vengaboys at 2am in West Auckland? | New Zealand Today
Guy sold us out to TV, gave up on the channel, then TVNZ collapsed and now he's reviving his UA-cam. He should have kept the grind going, money-wise I imagine he would be doing quite well for himself if he didn't give up his momentum for a contract with TVNZ
I'm sorry but WTF, as someone that has always HATED those cars with loudspeakers on them blasting this music in neighborhoods late on weeknights, and the bicycles with the same speakers being ridden by some lone nutcase doing the same thing, I find the whole car meet-up stuff really fucking awesome (haha I hope that first half of the comment threw you off). It reminds me of first two The Fast and The Furious movies and ( as a white early 30's Kiwi) I think its awesome that the Islanders are getting together and all hanging out having fun and sharing the love, and also seem to be accepting of people new to the scene to join in. Growing up in such a multi-culturally expanding country like NZ in the 90s, I probably had friends of every race and culture on the planet by the time I hit Intermediate, and one of the best aspects of that is being introduced to customs and cultures that I probably would have had no idea about if I grew up in any other country. That is a core aspect of what it means to be a Kiwi, in my opinion. We shouldn't let the few people that do this kind of thing late at night in neighborhoods during weeknights, or the media that portrays it as "Islander culture just here to annoy everyone else with their music", cause us to believe that the majority of people aren't just like you, me, or the next fulla who just want to have fun during their free-time and be a part of a community. Too many people seem to hate and fear anything they don't already like more and more these days, rather than even giving themselves a chance to understand or be involved in it. Also, "Celine cos She's-On" is fucking crackup.
My old neighbors always played Vengaboys after midnight while they would party, lol.🎉 There were never any fights, thankfully. But their volume was always LOUD🔊😅
NZT ask the questions that the world is too scared to hear the answers. More than that they look for solutions, maybe not finding them but hey they try. God bless you NZT.

They ALL look like they are having a ball, esp when Vengaboys start rocking. A far better option for Aucks young fellas than wanting to patch up and waste 20 years of your youth to either Jail, and, or, so called brotherhood I would have thought but its a free world and to each his own is what I have always lived by and I have been around for a few haircuts nowdays.
Guy... season 5 (current season) does not appear on ThreeNow. Please have someone other than yourself check if they can see it? I am logged in and it is not there, only season 4. Can anybody else see it there?
@@toddfather7541 let's be honest - most people who inadvertently walked into that group would probably want to turn and run! But they looked like a fun group to hang out with.
Siren music is so overrated especially the SHOWOFFS that rock up to the night market blasting their music as if it’s a flex. It’s not. It’s personally annoying especially riding in your car and putting it all the way up to hear not even 30 secs of a song. Not even good songs either. 💀 EMBARASSING.
Amusing. But I do think you should write in the description that this clip was made years ago during times when Coronavirus was an issue. And the suggestions below from other commenters about UA-cam thumbnails and titles, spot on. You would get a much higher click-through rate and way more views. I mean, you already get loads... but you would get a lot more.
When I took my friends from otago up to Auckland they ended up asking the Samoans and Tongans in otago why they don't do siren battles😂 only in Auckland lol
You dont want to start it. It starts as in carparks and reserves, then they start cruising the streets with screechy crap that shocks you awake. Or cruise with so much bass it reverberates right through the entire house. Had to check windows for cracks afterwards its so bad. Usually random times through the night and early hours. All days of week and weekend. Its horrible.
