It's funny that in "Book of Boba" Boba stayed on Tattooine the entire time when there was no reason for him to do so. But in "Kenobi" Obi-wan leaves at the end of the first episode when there was every reason for him to stay on Tattooine.

    Contrivance counter:
    1. Despite the hundreds of Clone troopers attacking the temple, the Jedi have no alarm or warning.
    2. The Clone troopers are made incompetent so the younglings can escape.
    3. The Grand inquisitor's exposition dump. Out of an entire planet they know which city and even which room to search.
    4. The Jedi using the force with no subtlety.
    5. His escape.
    6. The inquisitors terrorize citizens in Hutt space without consequence.
    7. Reva is disobedient without consequence.
    8. The inquisitors question a random civilian who happens to be Owen Lars.
    9. This is just after his conversation with Kenobi.
    10. The Jedi just finds Kenobi despite Kenobi being in hiding.
    11. Leia, the young princess, goes running in the woods with zero supervision.
    12. She hasn't been taught stranger danger.
    13. The entirety of the chase sequence.
    14. Bail Organa, the royal senator, can't find anyone to trust to rescue his daughter aside from the in hiding Kenobi. He knows why Kenobi is in hiding but asks him to come out anyways. And as a Jedi, Kenobi would garner much more attention than literally anyone else.
    15. He wants to keep his daughter's kidnaping a secret despite the dead guard and servants who work with Leia, despite the additional help he could receive to rescue his daughter, and despite how unnatural he's acted should any of this be leaked.
    16. Reva knew exactly how Bail would react. She is aware of his sympathy for the Jedi yet no action has been taken against him as an Imperial Senator. Despite the hundreds of people both Bail and Obi-Wan came into contact with during the Clone Wars, she knows they have a special relationship that will successfully draw Obi-Wan out of hiding.

Regarding clones: from the Traviss EU Clone Commando novels, the Battle of Coruscant was a trap for Grievous prepared by gigantic accounting fraud to keep the buildup secret; this coincided with the Kamino contract winding down, and Sparti Cylinders set up on the planet itself, with radically shortened growth cycles, which increase abnormalities, aggression, efficiency, ect. This was probably how the contingency order brain chips seen in the Clone Wars animated series was implemented at scale -- longer lived Kamino clones notice they seem off, too, but the contingency orders are fine print they don't fuss about (only the Commandos really have the wherewithal and relatively unadulterated gene set to question and act on it freely.) OT era clones are cheap and disposable, and reliant on flash training simulations; basically babies with blasters, and commensurate spatiovisual noobs, despite being fully formed, which even experience can't redress fully.

    • @johntonssen7231

You may have missed the point of the prequels. The point was that the Jedi were high on their own hubris. They had no warning system because they didn’t think they needed one. They were a completely defunct system. So much of their system was terribly designed, which was intentional, the Jedi were supposed to fail in the prequels, which they did.
It was a commentary on Europe I believe. This beautiful utopia, gets into a devastating war and wipes itself out (ww2). The OT was a commentary on the US, the empire is the US and the rebels were the Vietnamese. How these plucky Vietnamese rebels could destroy the full might of the US military.
Look into the politics, George admitted that he based many of the characters on political figures, like Bill Clinton etc

@@johntonssen7231 But this was years into the Clone Wars and shortly after the battle of Coruscant. I'd have to rewatch it, but I'm pretty sure they had a rudimentary lockdown system in the Clone Wars when Cad Bane pulls off the Holocron Heist. I agree with you on the political aspects, that the Jedi were complacent in their ways and doomed to fail by the ultimate plan of the Sith. But even so, I think meditating in the temple whilst it is currently under attack and being completely unaware is too much of a stretch. At the very least, I'd expect them to hear gunfire and screams and sense a disturbance in the force. The younglings in ROTS at least tried to hide from the Clone Troopers.

@@sockpocketpre-alpha8258 Even if she wasn't, I wouldn't really care if she liked droids as a younger girl? I can kinda see her do that? It's not THAT much of a stretch?
Mind you, I hate Disney Star Wars very much, but one thing is making Han super pathetic smuggler and getting him killed by his own son and regressing Luke into a grumpy idiot who was tempted to kill his nephew instead of talking to his mother, the other is a small girl liking droids because they're essentially big living toys to her, but then growing up, experiencing the horrors of war and not having that innocent outlook anymore, if I'm not mistaken it's something very common in real life, that people grow up and maybe don't feel the same way about liking something.
I'm all for pointing out character contradictions, but only if they're ACTUALLY very questionable and contrived to allow the stupid story to happen (again Luke in TLJ), in comparison to Disney's other actual fuck-ups, Leia liking droids as a smaller girl is not problematic.
If it was part of a good show/movie, I'm pretty sure nobody would care.
"Know when to fold them" as they say.
Don't worry, this Kenobi show still sucks for other reasons, I just find unnecessary making a big deal out of minor things that in a better piece of media wouldn't bother anyone.
I guess I'm just a perfectionist, I want to hear good points as to why something is fundamentally broken, but I'm bothered by non-issues being blown out of proportion because it distracts from the bigger issues.

So let me get this straight, Reva had a suspicion that Bail Organa had some connection with Obi Wan because they were on the same side of a GALACTIC war. So she devises a plan to kidnap Leia because she assumed that Bail because she ASSUMED it would draw specifically Kenobi out. Reva came up with this plan without considering watching where Bail Organa went after the kidnapping...
This alongside her coincidentally assuming Owen knows something seriously makes me think that Reva has the saga's script in her pocket.

And I never watched the Clone Wars series so there might be context that I'm missing, but let me see if I'm understanding this correctly...
Bail Organa was close friends and allies with Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker's former master, during the Clone Wars; close enough that it was apparently put into record that they fought as allies during the war. Let's just gloss over that this guy was a senator during the war. He "fought" in the Clone Wars??? How??? In what capacity??? Was he a soldier, a general??? Were they running low on clones and started conscripting VIP's within the government to "fight"??? Also, did he give up his senate seat and monarchy to fight? Or do they mean that Alderran had a standing military that he pledged to the Republic? That's a weird line, a senator "fought" in the war...
Let's also gloss over the fact that knowing Obi-Wan so well during the war must've put Bail into regular close contact with Kenobi's partner during the war, Anakin Skywalker. Organa also seemed to be a close colleague of Anakin Skywalker's wife, Padme Amidala. This guy was close with, quite literally, THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN DARTH VADER'S LIFE! Did Vader kind of forget (trademark D&D...) about his existence?! Or did he never know about him to begin with?! This is the only correct answer. Everyone is twisting themselves into knots trying to figure out a Kenobi show that would fit into the established canon when the easiest answer is - don't make a Kenobi show. We don't need to know what every main character was doing all these years. It is perfectly acceptable to say that Obi Wan took on the duty of protecting Luke seriously and despite the weariness of twenty years on a desolate planet he soldiered through and did it anyways.
Why do we need a moral background about the failings of the Jedi? At the end of the prequels Obi Wan seems defeated but hasn't given up, and at the beginning of the OT he still seems enthusiastic about the Force and encourages Luke to learn. Did we really need a broken jedi storyline here?

-Bail's daughter is kidnapped and instead of speaking to the local authorities, he contacts a wanted criminal accused of treason.
-The Tantive IV was at the Battle of Scarif and stole the Death Star plans in full view of Darth Vader.

About the Inquisitors, the main idea is that they receive only the most basic training in using the Dark Side of the Force. They will use this training to strengthen the understanding they already have of the Force from being Jedi. They also use different tactics to throw Jedi off their focus to prevent them using the Force. That was the original point of the spinning blades. To catch Jedi off their guard (Let’s hope they don’t turn them into helicopters again). Because of the lack of significant Force training a single Inquisitor is nowhere near as strong as a Jedi Master or Sith and are not considered the latter. Their main threat comes from their intense lightsaber training and if facing a great enough threat, their numbers. Not that I expect the show to go into any of that.

First: when the clones open the door the first one shoots three times and misses on a stationary target. This just further perpetuates the myth of the "Stormtroopers can't aim" which is doubly funny considering that these aren't Stormtroopers.
Second: The room they are in appears to be pretty high up or rather far away from the main entrance. As we know the clones marched up by the 1000's meaning they had to have run into some Jedi prior to getting to that room. There's no alarm in the Jedi temple? The Jedi Master/younglings couldn't hear the gunfire? They didn't sense the awful things happening right outside their door? Yoda sensed the Jedi purge all the way on Kashyyyk and Ahsoka sensed it while in Hyperspace (which is Disney's own canon) but not her? Awfully convient...

How interesting would it be to have an Empire character (who's in charge of some kind of squad) genuinely trying to help the Organas, like this is a period where the Empire isn't quite as corrupted by the Emperor, and it's trying somewhat to have good relations with other systems and hierarchies. This proposed Empire character could be an honest, devoted person that wants peace in the galaxy, and of course they're happy to be put on this detail to help save this senator's child. Then, if the show lasts a few seasons, maybe this character's relationship with the Organas sours, not by their own doing but by our good guys not being able to trust the Empire to any degree. You know, have this big climactic bit where the Empire character has a dispute with Bail, invoking "I put my life at risk to save your daughter, you really don't trust me?"
Please, please Star Wars, let the Empire have some characters! You almost had it in that one Mando episode, with the happy Stormtroopers congratulating their friends that didn't blow up!

So why are the Organas acting like Obi-Wan has some sort of duty to help them? Ugh...

Obi-Wan and Leia should NEVER have met. They have NOT met by the time of SW:ANH. Luke, at the very least, HAS heard of Obi-Wan ("Ben"), maybe even met (or seen) him as far as SW:ANH is concerned (though even that's a stretch). They're going to try and retcon this Leia/Obi-Wan thing by pointing out that Obi-Wan just introduces himself as "Ben" to Leia, but even THAT doesn't work, because Leia still knows that Obi-Wan and Ben are the same person (again, according to SW:ANH), though she hasn't met him. THE main plot, and it completely goes against canon. Ugh, this is just terrible.

The Leia kidnapping is a better setup for a Boba Fett show than what The Book of Boba Fett had.
Leia has been kidnapped, and her parents figure out that she's been kidnapped by someone working for the empire, so they can't go through official channels to get her back. Instead, they hire Boba Fett to bring her back by any means neccessary. He has the skills to pull this off, he'll seemingly work for anyone who can pay him, and Leia's parents can afford to pay whatever he wants to get the job done.
This gives us the opportunity to have Boba helping the good guys without actually being a good guy. It also creates some situational irony that he's rescuing her from the empire now, and will go on to help the empire capture her later.

Disney killed a major part of my life and I am unhappy, but the wound is so deep I feel the pains watching it even through EFAP. The fact that Vader is even in the show for more than just yelling at the inquistors (ie fighting Obi Wan) is mind blowingly stupid and ruins so much.

Get used to the child chase scenes. Leia never once insinuated that she knew she was adopted until she realized that she's Luke's sister. A total of _four_ living beings know of her origin (Bail, Bail's wife, Kenobi, & Yoda).
I kind of want to rip away every scene that isn't Kenobi 'cause that would be far better than what we got, but it would be so much work and it wouldn't fix future episodes.
Last thing for now, why is Luke not blond? Generally people's hair don't usually get fairer as time passes. Sure, the suns would help, but he should really take on Anakin's looks. It bothers me.

Something I realised upon rewatching this is that Leia doesn't act like a normal child when her guard was shot dead in front of her. She never screams nor freeze every time someone dies in front of her. Not the guard, not the bounty hunter that Kenobi shot, not the Stormtroopers (including the one cut in half literally). It doesn't mesh with a sheltered child backstory.
