I have diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 4.5 months ago. My Hab1c was 14.7 according to the test that i gave 15 days ago. They put me into treatment in hospital to get my blood sugar down immediately. 1.5 months ago, i gave a test and my Hab1c was 7.1. I am doing so much better now. My first goal is to get 6.5.
I started to watch your videos on the hospital bad back in the day and here I am. I will be here as long as you keep doing videos. Thanks for all the work you done for us, for me.

Tom, as a recently diagnosed T1, I have found your videos to be invaluable. The information you have shared about not only how to manage this disease with insulin and CGMs has helped reduce my learning curve tremendously. However, the times you have opened up about your own personal struggles as a youth and your progression to taking better care of your glucose challenges are what really spoke to me as I begin to wrap my mind around this new life. Like many others here, I also feel like I would benefit from your free Patreon trial. Thank You.

Tom. Another good video. You may remember that when libre 2 came out and the same price as the 1 was guaranteed, Dexcom said that Abbott would be making all vendors keep prices low. And they should be. I just switched to the mobile app for Libre 2 and looks like it will be a smart move. First night the alarm went off and it was seriously loud. I expected to see emergency vehicles outside. Hope you are doing great. It is always good to see your videos. Thanks.

I’ve got the Freestyle, sick of them failing but here in the U.K. you don’t really get a choice, wasn’t easy getting this but being a Kidney Transplant Patient helped but they don’t stay on very well so I tape them on. Will probably end up buying some covers or something, thanks for the tip and link for the skin grips, may try those.
Biggest issue is the difference in readings, sometimes they are really far off the mark.
I could do with the Patreon Membership, I’m on my 4th Transplant and was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2007, about half way through the time I had my 3rd Transplant for yet I was only told this year that a high HBA-1C can affect my Transplant, I’ve always had trouble with high readings and had little support from the Diabetes Centre until recently so I’m trying to be much more proactive myself, when it comes down to it it’s my health it’s affecting and I’ve enough to worry about with the other multiple Health Issues I have.

Accessibility and cost are huge factors for me. Here in the Philippines, only the Libre is available and I have to pay it out of pocket. Ironically, when I was starting to research CGMs, I found out that dexcom has a global services office but doesn't distribute their products here 😅

One more plus point for Dexcom G6. Can monitor with the reader / phone being up to 20 feet away where as Libre 2 one has to take the reader / phone within 6 inches of the sensor. Second plus point is the ability to set, get and transmit alerts due to low / high sugar(in my case my Doctor and my son get these alarms). Thirdly the Dexcom Clarity app that gives the user ability to crunch numbers and run analysis.

I would love to win to be able to get more information for my diabetes. I was diagnosed 14 years ago and my insurance in the US pays very little for the Dexcom G6 which I use. Like you stated in your video, companies need to make the products more affordable for people to use. Since using Dexcom my diabetes has been more manageable, however, sacrifices have to be made in order to continue to use the product. I love watching your videos because you give information that is helpful as well as insightful. Thank you!

I didn’t hate my time using the Libre (1&2) but since getting the Dexcom, I’ve felt less anxious about my blood sugars. I like the multiple different arrows & alerts, I love that I have the option of different alert tones (that don’t scare me half to death), and I love not having to scan it (half the time I had to rescan or wait & scan again with my Libre). I just got on a pump & it has definitely been life changing. I can’t wait for the g7 to come out & be approved for use with insulin pumps! Hoping it’s a little cheaper though, I’m not lucky enough to have insurance coverage fully.

I am so glad you had mentioned about the cost of the CGM's. I am a lucky one that my health insurance now covers CGM systems. Even the cost of finger prick testing can be too much for some with no coverage. I have diabetic friends who only test maybe once a day via finger sticks because of this. The cost of being diabetic are so expensive just to check levels, insulin and is insane for some to may out of pocket. On a positive note I am so excited for seeing Libre 3 come to Canada soon to stop the scanning and being a smaller sensor. Wonder if Libre is even working on being able to work with insulin pumps? Thanks again for a great video Tom and enjoy watching your channel.

I am very appreciative of the information in this video. I'm currently using the Dexcom G6, because this is the only CGM my insurance covers... My copay for the sensors isn't bad..$40/month.. The transmitter is another story..$195.. The transmitter lasts 3 months.. My dilemma is this: do I pay $195 again next month for another Dexcom transmitter, or do I pay cash for the Libre ($74.99/month). There are things I like about both systems.. I'm really having a hard time making this decision.

Thanks for your presentation on the 2 different cgm monitors. I looked at Dexcom but felt that it was prohibitively expensive . I also am fortunate enough to have access to NHS funding. Both sensors use a lot of waste single use plastic which I think could be changed with some appropriate re manufacturing. Also I would like to see some further developments in making the sensors last longer.

Hello Tom, I have just found your channel and subscribed. My 12 yr old daughter was diagnosed last year with type 1 and is currently using libre 2, I now want the libre 3 thanks to watching your reviews.
Just a quick question if you do see this…
So I have to go to work part time for a couple of hours every few days and I’m having to leave my phone at home so my older son can scan my type 1 as I have the scanner on my phone and I take an unreliable other mobile with me in case of emergencies, am I right by thinking that with the new libre 3 I can log out and my son can log in on his phone for the time I am away and get my daughters up to date readings? So I can take my reliable phone with me incase if emergencies and then when I get home I can log back in on my phone and receive the readings?
    Sorry for the long text.

Put on your new sensor on the day before your old one is supposed to expire. (You will be wearing 2 of them for one day). When the old sensor expires, then transfer the transmitter to the new sensor and start it. This avoids the low blood sugar readings that you get on day one since the new sensor has already been in your tissue for a day. That is what I always do. What I don't like about the new dexcom 7 is that it starts warming up as soon as you insert it so I can't postpone it starting for a day. I am hoping the dexcom 7 won't have those low readings on the first day.

This mess is so complicated and I thought sticking my finger hurts so bad that I just gave up hell with it but this monitor and this patch is going to be getting on my nerves making my skin hurt putting that needle in every time and then sometimes it's not even going to read right 😳🙄🤨🗑️ how come they can't make a tablet we stick it in our mouth and hold it there for a minute and when we lick our out tongue it turned a color and let us know if the sugar level is high or low 👍🤔 nice video

I used the libre 1 for several years before switching to the Dexcom G6 at the beginning of this year. I have far less compression lows at night with the dexcom. My day 1 readings from both systems are tremendously more accurate if I attach the new sensor for a minimum of 4 hours prior to activating it. I think this step should be promoted more heavily and if anyone hasn't tried it yet, give it a a shot if your day one readings are crazy. I hate the alarms, so I never use them, but to each their own. My doctor had originally put me on the Libre by default because it's cheaper for most people, but I learned much later that my insurance covers both products fully. I was on the fence about Dexcom, but I admit now it's the superior product assuming you have access. At first I found the adhesive less reliable on Dexcom because I could see it fraying on the edges, but this allows me to see that I need to put on an overpatch whereas the Libre just fell off unexpectedly. I have yet to lose a Dexcom sensor before the ten days are up. I am definitely on Team Dexcom now. I do like the look of the Libre App. It just seems prettier to me, but that's hardly the most important to me. Hopefully Dexcom makes their graphs prettier but that's the only thing.

Blood sugar monitors that test your blood and the best ones that don't give you different readings every time you test but are do you have a accurate blood sugar that give you accuracy instead of two different numbers when your hands are perfectly

Been using the Libre 3 for a few months now, and it's honestly almost always within 0.25mmol/L. I only feel it is relatively inaccurate when I'm low, which really isn't a problem, as I will correct it whether I am 2.9 or 3.7 anyway. It has basically never read higher when I've had a hypo too.

I am an outlier-Type 2 NIDDM, self payer (US) and using the Libre 14 day US paired with the DiaBox app (which I have still running on iOS !) I am using this combo because I am a busy nurse in the OR theater and am hypo unaware. I need those alarms! BOO to Abbot for refusing to put the effort into developing a decent app (for all platforms) with alarms. And DOUBLE BOO for shutting down any 3rd party app developers on iOS (and BOO to Apple for caving to Abbot).

I have both Libre 3 and the Dexcom G6. I really wanted to love the new Libre device which was recently released in the US because it’s very affordable in comparison to Dexcom but have gone through 2 sensors with Libre 3 and they are not accurate. Libre 3 is providing False readings after days of installation. Here are my results. Libre 3: 64mg. Dexcom G6: 107mg. One touch finger prick: 108mg. My Dexcom is very accurate and we are happy with the product but it’s very costly. I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm still hoping they will be a CGM that's suitable for those with muscle wasting. I find they fall off, are very painful or give misreadings as they tend not to go into muscle. They end up in ligaments or something rather painful.

"Freestyle libre sensors last for 14."
As a type two diabetic I really wish this was true! By now I have had to replace so many sensors that I am pretty sure Freestyle has my name and number on speed dial LOL. It sucks but it is the truth. Either the sensor falls off or it reads for a few days to a week before it eventually tells me the sensor is no good and I need to replace it. I even checked with my endocrinologist and the pharmacist who both confirmed the correct spot to place the sensor in. I bought skin grips from Amazon which are so strong it is virtually impossible to remove them without causing some sort of bruising to your skin. The dexcom is not covered by my insurance so I would have to pay out of pocket to get it. I am on the fence but considering my bad luck with freestyle I think it may be worth trying. I was out shopping the other day and forgot to bring my test strips and I wasn't feeling well so I scanned my sensor and it showed I was fine. The last thing I remember was waking up in a hospital bed. The paramedics recognized that I am diabetic due to my sensor in my arm and a card I have in my wallet that states I am diabetic. They said my blood sugar was at 20 yet the freestyle sensor read me at about 120.

Lower MARD does not implicate better sensor! There is a lot of literature showing that MARD is not a good metric for CGMs because it does not pay enough attention to hypo ranges. Trials are being designed to result in good MARDs without actually being superior. As long as you keep glucose levels pretty low and the dynamics to a minimum, you will get lower MARDs, by design.

Personally, I don't like the overpatches. I find them cumbersome, unnecessarily bulky, and ineffective. I have had extremely good success with using skin tac bandage adhesive. First, I clean the skin with alcohol. Then, I brush on the adhesive. I let it dry for a couple minutes until it is no longer wet but instead tacky. Once it is tacky, I apply the sensor. This results in a tenacious bond that you have to pull like you mean it to remove the sensor. That being said, i suspect everyone's skin, oil levels, etc. is different and reacts differently to different products.

Literally none of the comparison videos include the Dexcom one! So annoying as thats the dexcom that they tend to prescribe in the uk and i want to compare to the libre 2 which im used to. Im already concerned about the alert functions and lack of predictive lows which would have been an advantage.

Freestyle is trash now a days IMHO. I have horror stories of support issues when the cgm was giving me wild numbers. I had to bring up ada documentation about how bad they were. Full on bullying mode from them.
Trying to work with DEX and the 5g pod. It has been a fecal festival so far. They have become my part time job. 45 min to talk with someone then the support has been lacking from both sides. Then a few hang ups and start over. So far I have been on the phone for about 14ish hours this week or so.
Really sad never had any issues with the dash. Going sudo closed loop is temping me to get of the pump completely and only do sticks again. Yep that bad. I was all in for team pod but not so much right now. As they have been giving me the run around in have been thinking about the overall process and it is getting me to think of the health risk of some of these medications devices because of lax security-related products.
Keep in mind oem gear is fairly safe but a phone is just a small computer in the pocket. How are the protecting the phone when only the FDA approved code is allowed To run, and it can cost a bundle to test a security patch. I may be missing something if I am pleased let me know.
To my family in brasil. Tudo bom.
To all be well, stay healthy, and stay stong we got this.
