You need to check out their song "Tech Noir". Make sure you watch the video version. The video for the song is absolutely incredible. The song is equally as amazing. One of my favorite music videos ever. "Fly for Your Life" is another good song from them too. GUNSHIP is brilliant.

Had this video pop up in my recommendations and man theres a lot of things I want to say. I'm a 91' born guy but I was always fascinated by the 80's culture, the music (Depeche Mode was the first realy band crush) , the fashion (them leather pants and puffed hair), the mentality of people, the cars (need I say more? Porsche 944 , Porsche 911 (959), Countach, Testarossa,,Delorian, F40, M3, Audi Quatro , Toyota MR2 and so on ) movies (Gunship video pretty much nails most of them) , pretty much everything and also coming from a country that suffered from communism and being in that eastern european block we were really set behind by at least a decade when it comes to technological & culture progression so, a lot of people like myself also experienced the 90's and even 00's with what 80's people from the West did. Gunship managed to bring back all of those nostalgic emotions and this song always brings me to the brink of tears because just as you explained and as the lyrics say, you tend to lose that little spark of hope and joy that you had as a child, you tend to mellow down, come back to reality and some, even go down straight out depressive (at least in my case it's been that way) I'm more of a Darker style of Synthwave these days, with rock metal guitar riffs (Dance with the Dead, Midnight Danger, We are Magonia, Perturbator, Carpenter Brute, Battlejuice) but whenever I go full nostalgic mode, for sure Gunship is up there. Try giving giving Timecop1983 , At1980, Michael Oakley , Jessie Frye some chances aswell.
Your the second person I've seen finally stick a toe into SynthWave. Gunship is for sure one of the most main stream ones right now, and for good reason. I also highly recommend Megan McDuffy who has also done some video game work musically and vocally as she voiced/sang for a main villain. But she also does a lot of great group work both for one off songs, and for full albums.
I've seen a good few people react to one or two synthwave tracks, but after one or two they always tend to just kind of stop doing them. I have started to notice that they all seem to get a very low number of views, so my guess is that that is the reason reaction channels that delve into it always seem to drop doing them after a couple.
Gunship is the GOAT for synthwave imho . Gates of Disorder is my fave . They don’t have an official video for it , but there’s a cool fan made set against 11’s story from Stranger Things you might dig . The Drone Racers , Dark All Day ( video full of 80s / 90s references ) and Black Blood Red Kiss are all great ones too with official videos not already named in the comments . Sleeper great tunes that are highly emotive ( not synthwave ) check out an artist called IAMX . Liked the monologue at the end I agree our societal structures really do kill the Awe from most , aside from the ones either privileged enough or the ones who just can’t shut it off , but they are the rarer ones who’s art we enjoy like this .
