shovel knight should have been in smash but not as an assist trophy with this theme would be hell a lot better as indie representative than that overrated blockhead crap from minecraft
steve is a playable character because Minecraft is the most important indie game of all time. saying steve's adition to the smash roster is bad is like saying that Ness doesn't deserve to be in the game because there are better rpgs than Earthbound.
I really wanted Shovel Knight myself, I was convinced Steve would never get in since Banjo was already in. But now that Steve is in I can see just why they would pick him. Minecraft is an incredibly important game in the history of video games. At least Shovel Knight got acknowledged and wasn't just a spirit like Shantae. As much as it disheartens me to see him not playable, I know he still makes a mark

Odd collection of tracks. StE, FoA, and TFR make sense, but High Above and Thousand Leagues are weird. IThotU and LDM would have been more appropriate
