Replacing bogies is pretty easy. Drive it up on a block to take some pressure off the bogie, zip old one off, zip new one on. Take the old ones in for cores. One thing's for sure, everybody will hear you coming down the road. That C9 really purrs.
The new to you Cat looks like a good value for your new operation. I agree I think its better to start out "overpowered" rather than immediately out grow a tractor/combine. Take a tractor that may be too big this year and in 5 fits just right!
Good choice of tractor. I own two CAT Challengers.. a 2004 MT835 bought from Indiana dealer.. and a 2018 MT 755E, with 3600 hours, bought from a local dealer. Awesome tractors, that make light work of tough jobs
Excited for your new adventure and enjoy your videos. I started farming 31 years ago and still feel like I’m learning as each year is different and has challenges.
Wow, that Challenger MT 765 is a beast! Love how you explained the advantages over older tractors and how it fits your long-term plans. Can't wait to see it in action with the new tracks!
Hey that’s a great buy. You never buy equipment for where you are in your business unless you don’t want to grow. Also ways buy to grow you will be ahead of the game. Good luck on your new journey.
You made a fine choice - I never cared for the small JD sound amplifier cab. I wear hearing protection in my old JD 8300 (if I’m spending more than a few minutes in it).
That tractor is a beast!! Great purchase and very smart choice for the near future! As you have said before on some of your videos, two track tractors adapt better to those fields, also they create less ground compaction and overall they are more manageable. Not to mention to the lack of adblue. Its the perfect tractor to start with.
Im happy finaly found the perfect chanel that will grow with me im a 7th gen farmer on a 1000acres farm in canada and i was searching for a small medium farm that is not a guy buying a kioti or some shit tinking he is a farmer
Nice tractor 👌. I have the same tractor as you 765 ultra wide. They are reliable. Just keep your reaction arm bearing oil changed every 250 hrs. Have fun!
I am liking the new intro Carson. I am excited for you I think you are going to do well. This is going to be a good adventure for you. Congrats to you.
i sort of get where you come from but when you buy an earlier model piece of equipment that was built to do a specific job(its capacity) you should probably expect to match the implements that were made to be used from the same era as the tractor was built in,
you should PAINT Yellow at those ends ... and put some MARKING FLAGS .... back bracket could be used for a 360 camera? and good luck with the Challenger
That’s a good deal! I had a 765b for quite a while. Some tips. Do not put a power box on the C9. I did and wiped out the injectors and HUEI system. If one or the other needs to be replaced you have to replace both. Those single bar tracks are a pain to keep aligned, replace with V bar instead. Two parts I should have kept on hand are a turbo boost sensor and a PTO switch, which is a pain to change. Also they seem to discharge batteries for no reason so keep jumper cables handy. There is a panel under the floor mat where your wire stripper is laying which is convenient for running wires. Oh one other thing I was told, use CAT fuel filters only, especially with a HUEI system, very sensitive. Also a Wix oil filter is not made properly for the C9, for some reason the oil pressure on startup goes sky high and will blow the rubber seal on a Wix. Sometimes wish I had mine back.
Thanks for all the info! I was told the same thing about CAT fuel filters. The previous owners used baldwin oil filters but the fuel filters are both CAT. I did end up changing oil and buying a CAT oil filter as well. I like to use oem filters on tractors as much as possible. What do you use for oil? Any brands that you know that have good bulk discounts?
@ I use Cenex 15w-40. There is a plug or something that is supposed to be changed if you use a different weight of oil, it’s in the manual. Don’t understand why that is. My second big tractor was a Challenger 45 after a JD 4560. Wanted a 8000T but they were just too much money at the time. Ziegler is what has kept me from going back to green. Good luck with the new venture.
I started watching your channel from the beginning but I eventually left because the vids just weren't that entertaining and you seemed to lack enthusiasm. So I just came across your 2 new videos this week and I was impressed enough that I'm back on board. Looking forward to starting this journey all over again!!
I don’t blame you. I was in a weird place and my heart wasn’t in it anymore. That’s why I have made the change that I did! It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m enjoying a lot more so far
Nice tractor. We do custom planting to make some extra $$ totally worth it because you can get a lot done with a 16r30 and it doesn’t cost to much for a used one that you can rebuild
I thought about planting, but I think 98% of people in my area already have a planter. Are there many people in your area that do not have planters? I’m leaning more towards the side dressing route as the local co-op does a lot of acres for a lot of people.
Well I farm in the Columbia basin, most people are either doing potatoes or hay and don’t have them. We mainly custom plant sweet corn. Maybe in your area side dressing is better, seems like less people have those bars. Another thing to think about could be custom spraying. We have thought about that as well, the issue is the insurance is fairly high for that.
Custom tillage may be another option. I really struggled to make that work. Seems like the amount of wear and tear and fuel makes the profit margin very slim. I know here discing is around $23 per acre, fairly hard to make tons of money at it
That's a beautiful tractor, i know you have possibly of using dads equipment if needed, I would buy an old reliable tractor, 150hp something, old workhorse to pull wagons ect, it could save you if your cat does down,
Probably a dumb question, but can the axles be shortened? Looks like there is an end cap on them, so I suppose it would entail more than just shortening them.
Drove one like it some. Probly best riding tracked out of any older models .. they sound mean as heck straight piped .remember kids .loud pipes saves lives
I have a 765c every month or so put battery charger on it and turn the key on for about a hour to keep ecm battery charged it’s a hard to find item and expensive to swap out ask me how I know
I was concerned about the hours. I went to the dealer and they said based off service records, there’s no reason for me to believe that the hour meter is not correct. Plus our meters on these will actually show 10,000+ hours, they do not flip over
Like to see the grain storage facilities & dryer, tillage tools, equipment bam, & combine/heads. . You do have your 4 row planter for corn + the 6000 series sprayer. Just another 2 $ million for a grain cart & balance of equipment such as semi tractor/grain trailer & you'll be on your way. Also while fixing "tired iron", no one is farming. 🚜🇺🇸🗽🙏
Don’t need a grain cart for 220 acres, my grandpa has some bins that are not being used, and plan on doing strip till/no till come 2026, don’t know whether I’ll buy a strip till bar or pay the coop to do it. And yes I have the 6000. Plus, talking about harvesting with someone else for at least the first year. So my equipment expenses are actually going to be pretty low.
They do not yet, but we have a new product coming out soon that will work really well for Colorado! Send me a message at www.6thgenfarmer.com and I'll let you know when it releases
