Jimmy Page heard a version of this song on Joan Biaz's 1962 live album and loved it. Joan listed the song's origination as "traditional", meaning author unknown. When they needed material for their debut album, they decided to rearrange this song about a young man going off to war. Many LZ fans believe Robert's (Plant) lyrics are talking about him going off on long concert tours in the very early days!
On the album there's proper sirens - and even then, took me until watching someone reacting here on UA-cam to figure it's about going to fight in a war.
Some men are meant to be alone loneliness feeling always calling cause they have always ended up alone in my opinion that's my problem if it helps rather leave then end up alone cause of someone else and see it coming it's so much more of a painful experience and a man wonts do the right thing for every one some people in my opinion are meant to be alone thank you
Yea I believe some prefer being alone and there’s nothing wrong with that. But I also believe “nobody not nobody can make out here alone”-Maya Angelou….thank you for commenting!☺️
It's really too bad that videos can never capture the real sound of Zeppelin. I remember being disappointed in the live album "The Song Remains the Same". Microphones just don't capture what can be experienced live. Until I saw Robert Plant live in 2006, I had no idea how good the sound could be.
I saw Robert Plant live back in 2012, it was an indoor arena and was impressed on how strong his voice sounded, and he was 64 years old then!! an old viking chief certainly
I can only imagine how they sound in person! I bet that's a whole experience rather than just a concert! But who is Robert plant? Is he the lead singer? I don't know much about the band besides how amazing they sound.
@@jazminesreactions well, you are dealing with one of the greatest bands ever, if not the number one. I could give you all the whys and hows but it would take a long book to do it! 😂 they did things no other bands did - before and after - musically and beyond in the context of the music industry. I mean, their story is as amazing as their music; and yes, Robert was the lead singer. The best way to experience LZ is at top volume with a powerful sound system, you know, no headphones, no crappy sound equipment, but the official recordings first. Nowdays we have easy access here to lots of recordings of them made by fans during concerts in the '70s, videos, etc, things that in the past were only available as bootlegs or illegal recordings, but they obviously don't have the standard quality their official recordings have. those things are more for hardcore fans and/or for people who knows very well about them, so they understand what they were doing. and you hit the nail when you talk in your video about the intense erotic energy in LZ music. Absolutely, is true rock, which comes from the blues!
Very young in this one. Super fab tune. Another fab cover of this, "Great White" 80's band which will be a treat. "House Of Broken Love" is a groovin' blues tune. Peace On Ya
Am I really? I think it was my volume on the video, gotta make sure that's up higher when I edit I didn't realize it was low. But thanks for letting me know.😊

Oh really it’s about war? Hmmm ok that actually makes sense now that I think about it. Thanks for sharing that😊
As far as what the song is about, I suggested that they have to leave and go on tour. A place that Led Zeppelin feels at home.
Ok that makes sense too, thanks for commenting.☺️
So sensual and emotional as you said.
Yes it is!💕
