Imagine how scared that poor guy was.
    - in a foreign country
    - drowning
    - died for 5 minutes
    - was revived
    - is surrounded by large men talking to him in a foreign language
    - a ring of people clapping for a reason he does not know of
    - likely still in pain/shock
That's enough for me to have a stress and panic induced seizure and just drop dead.

My dad is a retired fireman and I have seen it done a thousand times and people should've respect for an emergency situation and go on with what they are doing.

at least 100/min (including pauses) allowing chest to fully rise in between with no specified maximum. (mentioned that faster was better than slower)
They were doing ~140/min before accounting for pauses and the chest seemed to be fully rising.

This guy also probably doesn't watch the show doesn't know the lifeguards wear blue and doesn't know what a AED bag is
The Bondi Lifeguards knows the importance of communicating a message in appropriate tone but he failed to do so at that time he should of said something much more imidiate "Someones dying i need you to run this down the beach now!!" Then followed up with a bit more clarification of where to go and kept pressure on him to go quickly.
But beauty of hindsight could woulda shoulda, he got the kit there and the man was revived. I'm sure the lifeguards reviewed all events to refine their reactions as they do with all major cases down there and in recent years they have been much more clear about communication with members of the public assisting them.

But secondly due to some comments i'm reading i really want to mention that this is their working environment and they are in charge.. who is to say the 'random' layman person is an anaesthetist or a doctor etc, some people just want in on the action, they just see a possibility to be a hero. I agree, great job not standing aside for this guy, being an anaesthetist is nice and everything, but this isn't 72 and fluorescent as we say, this is real life out in the field. Being a medic for 20 years I have encountered a countless number of times where someone says they are a doctor. My first question is what kind of doctor (being a dentist or psychiatrist doesn't count), let me see your credentials and are you willing to transport with this patient? 99.9% of the time they back off. The one time the doc was willing to do all that he saved my best friends life who I was responding on after he got ran over by a dump truck on his motorcycle. The doc clamped his artery in the field and saved him from bleeding out.

Ryan Kim suffered SCA(Sudden Cardiac Arrest) while in the waters. He knew how to swim and was healthy 26 yo. Sometimes healthy young people suddenly have cardiac arrest for some reason. Lot of comments here on why Ryan was stupid to go swimming without knowing how to swim. Fact is these commentators are stupid to rush to judgement without knowing the facts. Anyways, Ryan made a full recovery thanks to lifeguards and Defibrillator which was very important piece, no amount of CPR would've saved him.

To the bloke whinging about the "violent" compressions, I just finished my 3 day advanced first aid course and the trainer said you will always crack ribs if you're doing CPR correctly.
