Picked this up as my first electric a few months ago, love it a lot 🎸
I have an RS420. RS420 & RS320 are both hot pickup configured for Rock. YGD VH3 AlNiCos in the 420, ceramics in the 320. Both sound and play beautifully. Comfort is incredible. Smokes any Les Paul in that department. Build quality defies the price point. Revstars are a thoroughly modern design second to none. Won't be my last. RS502T next, but I'd drop change on an fun to play RS320 no problem. Great guitar for modding too. No Dry Switch on the RS320 is the only thing really mssing. Its primary target demographic won't miss that feature in any case.

P.S. Two years later. Ended up buying a new RS320 in early 2022. End of Revstar model (original v.1s) l runout sale, so I got it for a killer price. In gorgeous Red Copper too. So now have both. The RS320 exceeded my expectations of it. Those ceramics are versatile.
Played one and bought one. The neck is great, you can swap pickups if they're not to taste but a straight up rock guitar.

I have in myself, got it when I was maybe 10, I been playing since I was maybe 9 or 8 but only acoustic, I loved it, I’m now 13 and I still have it now and serving me good and playing well, it’s a lovely and mean guitar....

I wasn't a fan of the shape personally. Once I started playing it though, it sounded great and played so well I totally forgot about the shape and just really enjoyed it.
Traded a Fernandes for this exact guitar brand new off the wall. May have lost some value cause the Fernandes was Mij but never played it wasn't my style. Absolutely shocked with the value for the price point.

looks like a Washburn Idol which I only checked out at shops a couple times but thought those were very comfortable and really liked. I see a used one of these with a Seymour Duncan (model?) in the bridge I may go take a look at $180 US! I don't like gloss necks, but would sand it damn near down to the grain filler and get it wonderfully satiny smooth
They are surprisingly good guitars and with something like a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge it would slay.

Dude, only $265! I'm always around $600 - $1k and that's even low from what my friends spend! Amazing how well this guitar is for the price. That price was on the Amazon link you offered.
Cause it's stripped down, no bells and whistles, it keeps the cost down. Good pickups, great build quality and a really nice neck. It's hard to beat.

I know its been a year and a half since you posted the video but, would you choose this one over the Epiphone SG G400? Im between those two for my first guitar. Thanks in advance.
Playing this guitar, it reminded me more of the Les Paul Studio than an SG. I would personally choose the Yamaha because I love Les Pauls and I am not much of an SG fan. That's a personal preference. You can't really go wrong with either guitar as they are both good.
Try an SG and a Revstar in the same price range, Im sure you may prefer the Yamaha as it competes with much more expensive guitars.
I’d choose the revstar easily over the G400 (as a die hard SG owner)
Gotta a quick question. I cannot decide which guitar to buy. I am thinking bout rs320 and rs420. Is there any significant difference in playing comfort? I am lookin for guitar to handle any fast solo. Appreciate answer.
The RS320 is the stripped down rocker whilst the RS420 is aimed more at the classic vibe aesthetic. Same neck on both with the pickups and the look being the only real difference.

I have not played the Duosonic but it should be well made. I was floored by how good the Yamaha was. But it is a no bells or whistles guitar with a hotrodded feel and hot pickups. If that sounds like what your chasing, give it a go.

Got any idea how it compares to an Epiphone Les Paul Studio, which costs a little less?
Let me say this. Epiphone make great guitars. I own two myself. Their entry level guitars, however, can be a little hit and miss. This Yamaha's build quality was superb. The level of finish and componantry was more like an Epi LP Stanadard or Gibson LP Studio and the pick ups were hotter and better than most Epi low end I have played.
Thanks. Long ago I used to own a Yamaha SG200 which was excellent in all respects, and regret selling it. Three years ago I bought an Epiphone Special II by mail order that I returned because the bridge pickup was off-centre, and it had a couple of surround screws that were forced in at an angle. It played well enough, but the pickups weren't much and both had the same 50mm pole spacings which said 'economy'. I wondered if the Studio was any better, but your description suggests it may have the same quality control issues. I guess the Yamaha RS320 would be a more reliable option.
The studio is certainly a step up on the special but the attention to detail on the low end of Epiphone can be lacking. I have played some good Epi studios but I have also come across some dogs. I quite like Epiphone and own two, but they are both higher end models.
I was reminded of the well-regarded Epiphone Wilshire today, but they're unfortunately only available in that awful 'ivory' colour now. Can only wonder what idiot decided on that!. A pity, so it looks like the Yamaha will have to be the one.

Not necessarily. They are all quite different guitars and all quality. Think of the Revstar as a stripped back hot rodded SG or Les Paul in sound and playability. If you are asking about quality then they are all quality made.

I have a question, please. When you use the guitar in standing position, hanging on a strap: Does the neck dives? I mean if the neck tend to down to the floor, as in some SG's type guitar. Thank you!
Federico Stratocaster I honestly didn't play it on a strap but it felt well balanced. The front strap button is in a totally different spot from an SG so I think it would sit a bit better on a strap than an SG does.

Not at all. It had a weight of quality but nowhere as heavy as a Les Paul.
