Thanks, that first one (ocean sky) is one of my favourites, I made it a few years ago. ms2000b's sell for about £350-£450 on eBay. the Microkorg has the exact same synth engine which is handy as it's cheaper for a brand new one. If you get one (ms2000b or Microkorg) I can send you that "ocean sky" patch if you like :)

Hi! Thank you! I think you can use these sounds (synth patches) in the traditional ms2000, but some bits will be missing because the ms2000b has a couple of extra things the original ms2000 does not have
You might not be able to get the 'exact' same sound using a different synth, but I can send you the parameter chart so you can have a go at trying to get the same sound using a different synth (given the synth you use has roughly the same parameter controls etc ) if you like?

Dodo Christ korg stopped making these, but the Microkorg has the exact same synth engine and you can get a new one for less than £400. Or you could always try eBay? Korg ms2000b's do sell on eBay quite often for about £400 -£450 which is a reasonable price if it's in good condition. Anything cheaper than £350 is a bargain!
@@Andrew-K the only thing I can think of is the vocoder on the ms2000b has the 16 band vocoder version and the 3 layer motion sequencing with the 16 white square buttons above the keys. But I could be wrong Haha!

The ms2000b came preloaded with new presets and possibly some of the original patches from the first ms2000 too, but I'm not 100% sure. The patches in my videos are all my own creation and cant be found natively on either ms2000 or ms2000b synths

The ms2000 has a few extra features such as 16 band vocoder (microkorg is only 8 band, but that's not always a bad thing) and 3 motion record parts (plus it's got full size keys) but they are exactly the same synth engine. The MicroKorg can take batteries which is handy. That's ok! The best way to learn new things is by practice and talking to others!

Yes the multitimbral modes can be set as either; 2 layer multitimbral and keyboard split multitimbral. The MS2000b has 4 voices and you can choose if you want timbre 1 or 2 to have the following voice combination; 1+3, 2+2, 3+1
No they are pretty straight forward, but let me elaborate first- anyone who is new to synthesis will find most synthesizers difficult to use for the first time, but the more you practice with the same synthesizer the easier it will get, and you will also become familiar with synth architecture and signal paths. The korg MS2000's control panel is labelled and set out in an easy to understand workflow which really helps to start diving a bit deeper into synthesis. Ideally, the best type of synth to learn is something that is laid out similar without to much menu diving, so all the main controls are right in front of you. Roland and korg (as well as many others) have quite a few synths laid out in this way. Some good examples are Roland's boutique range, and korgs monologue/prologue. Have you use as synth before? Software synths are a good place to start, cheaper and take up less room! 🙂

@@davidpicarazzi yes it does have midi, thats a good idea if you prefer using a piano roll editor. Also, the Microkorg has the exact same synth engine as the MS2000. The microkorg does everything the MS2000 does except its smaller keys and not as many front panel controls, but you can (as far as I know) still access all necessary parameters using the front panel controls. Juno 60 awesome!! That's a great synth to get familiar with how a lot of synths are structured, particularly subtractive synthesis (which both the Juno 60 and MS2000 are).
Amazing patches/sounds you’ve created with this beast. Do you ever run it through external effects? I just wish the inbuilt drive had a level control. The first synth I ever tried was the MS2000 and I had a loan of one for a while. Years later I eventually bought myself the MS2000BR. I wish sometimes I’d waited for a version with keys, but then again the keys version is huge and takes up a lot of space! Haha. The BR is nice for just sitting in-front of my MPC or next to the laptop being sequenced from Ableton.
Thanks yes i do run it through a cheap reverb unit to give it more air. And I completely agree with you about the drive control, but there's always the ability to adjust both oscs' volume control
The ms2000 is dark blue, and the ms2000b is black and also has an XLR input on the front. I think they might have a few different presets built in, but they are the only differences
Thanks :) as far as I know they wouldnt work for an ms20 but there are a few patches that you might be able to get close to with if you was to programme the ms20 yourself,but even then it would not sound identical. Are there any patches you like in particular? Do you use a DAW?
Yura Keyz midi ox is a free midi utility program which I use. Just look up 'midi ox' in Google. There are other programs but I only use midi ox. Hope that helps

It's a nice synth to look at, but it's essentially a toy without substance. Very little polyphony, and often monophonic. Toy sounds. After all, it has the same engine as the Mikrokorg. Maybe it's good for kids under 12 who love techno, house, and various stupid things... for a barely decent entry level, start at least with a SEQUENTIAL Prophet 10 (the minimum) otherwise don't buy the synths.
