Kinda funny that I saw this come up while I was doing a Blaziken-only playthrough of Pokemon Ruby ( on an actual Gameboy Advance SP lol ). It was also my first favorite Pokemon
As one of my first starter pokemon after charizard, i have a soft spot for blaziken. This was back in sapphire where i only used my starter in battles bringing it to an obscene level. It was awesome to be able to use it again from the sixth generation as a monster in ubers even with or without its mega evolution. Mega blaziken and even the regular were so comfortable to use for team sweepers, slotting into the team without requiring much support, since you could swap it in anytime your opponent had an opening. Since it only needed a single turn to ramp up to ridiculous power levels with swords dance and spped boost concurrently, it was like a trumo card to swap in and sweep through the opponent when seeing a single moment of weakness. Speed boost on a pokemon with a setup ability and decent offensive and speed stats seems like a hilarious combination to blow any metagame wide open. Seriously, after it got speed boost blaziken wasn't out of ou for even a single generation, even being a three consecutive generations ubers threat. It's really been phenomenal at giving power creep the bird this far into the the meta, especially for a starter pokemon.
Its really telling how good, nay, DEFINING an ability can be on a Pokémon. (Sorry for the impending inexperinced essay 😅) You could make a case for the other Hoenn starters to have a different Hidden Ability. Swampert having Water Absorb, Swift Swim, Shed Skin, or Regenerator instead of Damp are all plausible, and Sceptile having Regenerator works too. Though while I think Unburden worked phenomenally in Gen 5 with the Gems, Chlorophyll would be pretty good too in the weather wars since aside from Ice Beams from Kyogre or Hurricanes from Pelipper, it wouldn't have trouble dealing with rain teams. But Blaziken... can you imagine it having ANY other ability? You'd never think to give this thing Speed Boost if you didn't know about it struggling compared to Infernape. They could've theoretically given it Reckless with Flare Blitz and High Jump Kick, but they gave it possibly the best ability it could ask for, and it delivered in spades. It's so good it's mega didn't need to change it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
@@Charleyyy678 I mean, BKC, Blazin' Kickin' Chicken himself, 100% worked on this skript and he is great friends with Ryan Gosling the man himself, so it may be a bit of both, but it is also definitely a Ken from barbie reference
Blaziken is so good with Speed Boost in Singles that it’s one of the few Pokémon for playthroughs that I’ve actually gone ahead and banned myself from using. The issue with Blaziken in ORAS single player is that it’s still borderline overpowered even when you don’t Mega Evolve this thing. STAB Flame Charge is functionally a Speed Boost replacement as is, and the Bulk Up TM from Brawly’s Gym being able to be used infinitely now was huge as well. It certainly helps that Water-Types that can actually check Blaziken are surprisingly rare outside of the obvious Swampert, but even this can fall to Sunny Day + Solar Beam. Sharpedo is weak to Fighting, Gyarados isn’t used by as many NPCs compared to Gen 3, and anything not named Gyarados or Pelipper would crumble in the face of a boosted High Jump Kick (assuming it actually hit). That’s just the obvious stuff, too. I haven’t even mentioned Gen 6’s improvements to EV training or the fact that Blaziken just hits neutral matchups so hard to begin with. Something like Mega Lucario in XY might be even stronger, but ORAS Blaziken’s unique ability to overpower through even its potentially bad matchups gives it an edge over Sceptile and Swampert in this game, heavily influencing casual and hardcore single player playthroughs compared to the aforementioned Mega Lucario and other overpowered Pokémon who could be added to a team regardless of your starter choice. Choosing Sceptile or Swampert for an ORAS team, on the other hand, meant you wouldn’t have access to something this powerful. Especially if you’re using a level cap, you might find one or two matchups in XY that can give Lucario and its Mega some trouble, but it speaks to both of these Fighting-Types that people have said they can dominate their respective games with little effort.
Ahhh yes Blaziken, one of my favorites ever since Gen 3, has been pretty solid, and it also was the 1st starter to ever reach the tier full of legendaries, something that a starter can struggle to reach
Combusken’s even had its own career in ADV PU, a niche in DPP ZU, banned from BW PU, top tier in ORAS PU, and top tier in SM ZU. It’s not likely Combusken will find a niche in SV ZU after failing in SS ZU, but not a bad showing for the smaller chicken given it was better than several legendary Pokemon or fully evolved starter Pokemon in later gens
Along with Sceptile and Swampert, Blaziken is always one of my favorite Pokemon of all time for how it never disappoints in battle. The only thing that is keeping it away from such perfection is its entry to the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable character, hoping that Blaziken can also dominate the roster there.
I like how all gen 3 starters have been good in their own ways, and also have been OU at some point it's really cool blaziken is my favorite starter as well lol

My glorious king blaziken

The undisputed king of Starters (singles)
Pokémon Unite made me fall in love with Blaziken, he’s such an incredibly fun and unique Pokémon in that game, nothing compares
Ah yes, the flaming chicken that was strong enough to take down the busted Pikachu. My 5th favorite pokemon. Let's just say I've been waiting for this
"Or Was it Just Ken?" We all love a Barbie refference. Blaziken is far from living a life of blond fragility
Pretty sure he meant the Ken from Street Fighter
@@Charleyyy678 I mean, BKC, Blazin' Kickin' Chicken himself, 100% worked on this skript and he is great friends with Ryan Gosling the man himself, so it may be a bit of both, but it is also definitely a Ken from barbie reference
My favorite Pokemon 🎉
It's Finger Kickin' GOOD!
Im lovin’ it
Watching this while eating spicy chicken express, Yummy Blaziken combo meal
Blaziken was my first starter. It warms my heart to see it be the best starter Pokémon ever designed.
BLAZIKEN MY CHILD
it was a little funny when mega blazer chicken was a free mystery gift when x and y first came out, stomping gyms 4-8 with just felt unfair
My favorite thing about blaziken is that he doesn't just unga bunga, he unga bunga at high speed
27 minutes episode of a show ❌
27 minutes of FSG on Blaziken ✅
I remember running sash dance reversal blaze kick and shadow claw in gen 6 ubers and catching people off guard.
I always love how the intro assumes I know absolutely anything about the anime
Blazing Kicking Chicken my beloved
My favorite fire type pokemon! We all get 1 OP/Overrated favorite and Blaziken is mine! I love using it's mega and crit sets
Blaziken: I fear no mon.
*Slow brothers appear
Blaziken: But those things scare me.
The 1st Pokemon I ever considered my Main. So glad my pseudo Phoenix boy is so strong!
To this day Blaziken is my favourite pokemon
Along with Sceptile and Swampert, Blaziken is always one of my favorite Pokemon of all time for how it never disappoints in battle. The only thing that is keeping it away from such perfection is its entry to the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable character, hoping that Blaziken can also dominate the roster there.
I like how all gen 3 starters have been good in their own ways, and also have been OU at some point it's really cool
blaziken is my favorite starter as well lol
Ahh 27 minutes to hear about my favorite Pokémon being great!
hoenn starters are just too goated
Sceptile has always been my gen 3 starter of choice, but I'm sure we can all come together and agree that every gen 3 starter is absolutely amazing. They're definitely the best starter trio, in my opinion.
I remember running a mono fire team in ORAS ubers with Blaziken and it ended up being my highest ranked team ever.
Wild that he went from UU to Ubers all because of Speed Boost alone.
Having a Blaziken which can mega evolve in Pokemon go. It is 98% iv, but is less than level 40. This mon's mega form design is flawless! I love it lot more than its base.
My favorite Pokémon and my first all the way in ruby so fun seeing it in the orange islands tournament I believe against ash’s charizard was so badass.
