A video that looks at the Ellipal Titan Mini, unboxing, setup and review. I run through the basic features of the wallet, some of what makes it unique and also some of the issues that you might run in to.
This also looked at some of the challenges with updating the firmware, as well as difficulties in sending funds due to an "Service Maintaining" error message.

If you are new to Crypto, my suggestion is that you start with buying ~$150 worth of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin @ Coinbase and get familiar with storing it, moving it around, etc.

By sticking with large, reputable exchanges for your first purchase (Coinbase) and first trade (Binance) you can avoid getting scammed right at the start by purchasing a non-existing coin off a scammy exchange. (You would be surprised how many people fall into this trap)
Don't have a hardware wallet?
Be safe and buy them direct from the manufacturer. (Not just through some random on eBay, Amazon, etc)

Great tutorial, but I seem to be missing something. I have transferred from the exchange to the app wallet, and it shows up the correct amounts I have transferred. But does every transaction require you to connect to the mini, or is receiving into the app sufficient? Probably right under my nose, and I don't see it.
You will be able to see the recieve addresses in the app, but it's a good idea to also verify them on the mini.
So the bundle, are those extra items necessary? Want to make sure I get everything I need, I don't have many crypto's but don't want to miss something I need.
You don't need any of the extra stuff. (Especially if you already have things like MicroSD cards lying around)
How is the keyboard quality on the mini? I have the original titan and my biggest gripe is that the keyboard calibration isn't accurate and registers keypresses about a half a key with above/left of where I actually press.
I haven't noticed any issues with either the responsiveness or accuracy of the touchscreen on the Mini.
Looks like a nice wallet, do you know if its possible to migrate an Exodus Wallet to Ellipal? Or do you need to start fresh and transfer coins?
Best bet is to start fresh and transfer
can ellipal mini show the balance (on hardware wallet)? or the balance only can looking from mobile apps?
Only the app. Your hardware wallet has no knowledge of the balance of any accounts. (There are only a handful of devices that will sync/show a balance and they generally aren't very good devices...)
how do I access the camera function on the ellipal titan mini?
You just follow the sending workflow like I demo in the video. (So initially start on your phone, then on the Ellipal you click on the coin you want and select Send)

No I haven't. That said, it's four of the same chip, so that isn't the same as something like a Coldcard which uses multiple secure elements from different vendors.
Do you have crypto balance problem when you update ur device ellipal ? some say their balance is gone after the update, thats im worried about if i bought ellipal.
Haven't seed this but also don't use Ellipal as a daily driver. At worst it would normally be a case of the balance not being correct in their app, but the funds will still be there on their respective blockchains.

I imported my onekey and keystone seed phrases into mini as backup device but my coins in onekey and keystone shows on mini anytime i put money into onekey and keystone. am I safe? won't i lose my coins on mini ? Please can you tell me some companion app to pair with ellipal? I tried rabby but it says I can't send coin from watch only wallet. Meaning I can only pair ellipal app as watch only in okex web3 and rabby app. Which app can be paired with ellipal app to be able to see arbitrum and optimism eth etc?

Ugh, so I just had a look and the Ellipal Titan supports Metamask on the latest firmware, but the Ellipal Titan *Mini* does not... (No ETA for Mini support at this time, but the feature announcement from January doesn't rule it out either) :(

They just get sent to your Eth address. (But you will need the companion app to support those chains to be able to send funds)
At the 5:27 mark can you please explain wtf the address is supposed to be to send the cryto to my mini? I cannot find this information anywhere. I have yet to see a guide for any crypto to any cold wallet that explains this....
By far your guide is the most helpful even compaired to the ones by ellipal.... you'd think they'd say what the address should be or how to find it if they wanted to make more sales.....
Just hit "Receive" for the coin/chain that you want to use. (I demo this for Bitcoin at the 4:20 mark, but the process is the same for every coin/chain)

Yes and no, it will work, but may not show all you funds for different coins/chains. What are you storing?

Basically things like BTC and Doge will only show the first address, so you would need to send the fund to that one from your Ledger. The Ada balance probably won't appear at all.
Eth and Matic should "just work" and the others you will just need to see.
How come I cannot see any of my crypto on my physical cold wallet but I can see it on the app I have the updated firmware and everything is it supposed to be like this?? Is this normal?
Are you asking about whether you should expect to see a balance on the Ellipal mini (you don't) or asking how to enable additional coins/chains? (Or are you just doing something like adding tokens that are on another chain that you have already enabled on the Ellipal?)

Yea you can't see that, the hardware wallet has know knowledge of such things. (And this is by design)
Hi ive download the latest update on the micro sd via my phone but when i put it back in the wallet adapter it is stil not updated
So did it detect the file when you boot it like in the video?

Depending on the type of phone you should be able to get an app that tells you that.

Shiba is just an Ethereum ERC20 token, so it should work fine.

You have to use a MicroSD card, not a USB stick

You need to use a PC to copy the file to the MicroSD and then you use the adapter to allow the Ellipal to access the contents of MicroSD card.

whenever i try to update it, it gets up to %80 before saying "fail to copy files" any tips to bypass this? i followed all the steps properly.
Have you tried with a different SD card?
@@CryptoGuide thanks for responding, I actually figured it out. when updating i had it plugged in a PC, which was causing the error. after updating it while plugged in a wall socket, it finished successfully.

It isn't a cable, but anything that lets you copy files to a MicroSD cable will be fine. (Which will depend on your phone)

If your phone doesn't have a MicroSD slot the you would need to connect a MicroSD card reader to it. (And depending on your phone, an OTG cable might help with that)
So why nobody tells in there video you can just update the sd card in your phone,there alle talking about a update on a pc of laptop ,and is it save i dont trust my phone at this time,?
It's simpler to use a PC as what is required for a phone varies wildly depending on your phone model, OS and age.

It depends on your phone. (Which might even just have a MicroSD slot that you can use.) If you have a phone with USB-C then it should be easy to get an adapter that works.

? I bought the bundle titan mini and the metal Mnemonic locker right…. Their are only enough spaces for 4 letter words 😂 yet they give you 5-8 letter words…😂 WTF? 3:34
Basically all the English BIP39 words are unique based off their first for letters, so you only need to store the first four letters of each word.
They said it uses only 12 seedphrase ???
It only produces a 12 word seed, but can be used with other lengths up to 24 if you generate the seed elsewhere.

That's right. Basically the checksum on 12 is weak so it's easier to do things like make a typo and not have it detected.
The physical construction of the device is fine, screen seems good to me.

I don’t trust a device that has a battery. What’s the chance that devices is going to power up in 10 or 20 years?
On a 10-20 year time horizon I would say zero... This is why you need to keep a copy of your recovery seed... The hardware device itself should basically be treated as a consumable.

Just select the crypto you want to receive and hit receive

You get a different address for everything chain type. (So one for BTC, one for Eth, etc)

Multi-coin wallets don't work like that
Air gapped is meaningless if they don't have multisig....once you scan that QR code from the Titan into the app, that's an outgoing transaction and your public key is exposed.
Your public key being exposed isn't really an issue, never mind that their QR standard is open, so you can actually craft and broadcast your own transactions.. (The main issue with the Ellipal is that of address reuse)
@@CryptoGuide the public key being exposed may be overly paranoid but I was a bit shaken up by the mass wallet draining that happened a few weeks ago. Many of those wallets were 0x0 ETH wallets, cold wallets that never engaged in a transaction and several EVM chain wallets. Some of those wallets were also the wallets created during the IPO for Ethereum.
Of course, this could be a false flag of sorts...There seemed to be a narrative following it about the virtues of multi-sig...of which many of the solutions are BTC only, but I digress.
I still maintain ELLIPAL has pretty bad communication. 12-word seed generation is just not sufficient if you believe quantum computing and brute force advancements are going to be exponential in the near term.
Are you concerned about the address reuse with Ellipal from an importing standpoint or re-using the Ellipal assist-created wallets with other manufacturers devices?

Address reuse is mainly an issue that relates to privacy, not security as such. (Though anything EVM related has basically zero privacy anyway and reuses all addresses all the time by default)
Ellipal certainly isn't great as far as communication goes and the wallet features are extremely basic, but for some people who want simplicity and a large screen, it isn't a terrible option.

Nope, you can do everything with any Android phone

If you can download and copy the firmware file to a MicroSD card then you can do everything. (Include occasional firmware updates) Some folk with iPhones seem to struggle with that.
What cold wallet would u recommend for iPhone users?
Depends what you are planning to store. For most people a Nano X is probably the best bet.
Interesting but proprietary connector - I mean WHY ? and closed source, so a hard pass personally. I do enjoy your reviews however
Basically there connector has its own microcontroller thatsits between the MicroSD card, the power supply and the Ellipal, meaning that even if you put something malicious on the MicroSD card, or on the power supply, it wouldn't be able to directly exploit the Ellipal device itself.
Stay away from ellipal! Big issues , glitches, etc….. I can’t get a response from support. My ethereum is stuck, absolutely beyond livid.😡😡😡😡

I’m so disgusted with so many glitches, swap feature disconnected for days, then turned back on, trying to send and saying try again later etc… I’m done with ellipal. Once I get my crypto off the Titan? I’m putting hammer to it and destroying it. I have another cold wallet for years and it works great!

Great review and demo. Problem with Ellipal app is that it is asking for this permission :" READ_PHONE_STATE
read phone status and identity". and it contains 3 trackers built in.
The permissions on Android don't look particularly invasive, but this is certainly not the device for you if you want privacy. The interesting thing is that the seed generated with pre 1.1 firmware refused to work in their app anymore, even after being reinitialize on to a device running the newer firmware, on multiple different phones. This makes me think that they are either embedding some kind of version info in the seeds they generate (or that they faulty seeds had some common characteristics that were easy to spot) or logging information linking a given seed to a specific device.

EDIT: I just noticed they only allow 12-word seed for the master key? this is crazy, that alone is a dealbreaker.....and they sell a seed generator (Ellipal Joy) that will create a 24-word seed...but you have to buy the hardware? Very curious...
