There are mattress covers, I didn't look too much into anti-allergy ones (because price and I feel like it's artificially predatory inflatated), but there membrane ones that are are liquid proof too

Heck I always assumed water will bind to all the tiny particle crap and smush it down for a while, like a filter. Kinda like radioactive fallout rain lol
That's only true during the first 10-15mins of a good downpour. Afterwards pollen count in the air decreases significantly, check local pollen counts before and after a rainy day.
This is what I’ve been trying to tell my mom. Dust is what keeps her allergies going. Dusting and vacuuming helps to minimize this. Plus that “house smell” becomes less if you air out your home too and change your sheets, wash curtains, and use washable covers on couches! 😅

Yeah, I can get bad allergic reactions that turn into acute bronchitis, and what helps me the most regulating this is having my window (or the door to the balcony) open at night, even in the winter, and I have an air purifier right next to my bed. Ten years ago I had constant issues with not being able to breathe at night, feeling like I was drowning etc, then my dad gave me his air purifier to try out bc it wasn't doing what he wanted it to do, and suddenly many of my breathing issues vanished.
Vacuum, wipe off surfaces especially those you dont really think about like doorframes, change your sheets, wash your pillows and plushies if you have any, air out your blanket or wash it, basically just get rid of dust regularly. I'm only allergic to grass but these things help my allergies too. The only difference is that I shut my windows if I hear a lawnmower then open them a few hours later if it's still warm out lol
I have bad allergies. I have six house plants in my bedroom. These two things have nothing to do with each other! To keep my allergies at bay I use a hepa air purifier, air out my room daily, wash my sheets and allergy encasings regularly, and vacuum super regularly with a Hepa vacuum!

Our south central (rural) Minnesota USA air quality was listed as poor due to high dust and dander. This was April, before tree pollen rose. It was very windy as I live in prairie area. My question is: where is the dander coming from? Livestock?
100% I have an air purifier especially because here in Canada we’re in for a hell of a fire season. The air quality yesterday was a very high health risk which is the highest are air quality monitoring system can be! Air purifiers, dusting with a particle mask and damp microfibre cloths are your friend. Vacuum with a vacuum approved by the asthma association.

There is actually "scientific proof" in a study from NASA (peace lilies also scored well) however the problem is that that study doesn't actually translate very well to the quantities of air in your average home. The study is where the misconception comes from, and is also why I bought my peace lily in the first place (and now it's just my plant pet 😛)

I can't believe I had to scroll so far to find someone with realistic standards We should be getting up at 4 to drink a glass of warm water, wait 20 minutes, take some spirulin, then proceed to eat the chia pudding set the night before, then go jog for half an hour, shower, have breakfast (being careful with carbohydrates and coffee and dairy and gluten), go to work, come back, vacuum, do laundry, prepare dinner and tomorrow's lunch, let go of screens right this instant because you won't be able to sleep otherwise, meanwhile find something to do before bed because you can't right after you ate, but wait... You can water the plants, do some journaling, open the windows, plan your grocery shopping and the use of kitchen scraps. Did you take out the garbage? Oh, now you can't because the truck has already passed, so you'll have to wait. And you have to do all of this in just the right order because you need 8 hours of sleep. Did you drink enough water??
@@shelby6 not if you fix the source of the water. Could be a vapour barrier issue, could be a leaking pipe, but a dehumidifier alone isn't going to take care of it.
The plant thing keeps getting repeated everywhere cause no one read the entire study NASA did. They just cherry picked one little part and extrapolated their own conclusion. The study showed such a tiny difference that even without the plant, just the dirt, it was about the same. You'd need an entire forest in one room to make even a modicum of difference.

But I do also keep my bedroom window permanently open (unless it’s over 30°C), and regularly open other windows and the front and back doors. My last rental property was the only one in the block mould-free because of that fresh air fetish.
I see she is using a steam mop for her hardwood so I immediately don't trust her opinion. (I sell flooring and the steam mop is a huge no no for any flooring except tile)

Disagree entirely with the ….takes too long comment. I have, time and again, cured smelly chemical indoor air. At work, they say the carpet tiles are green, and that they off-gas before laying it out. Might have been improved, but seemingly not much. So I brought my houseplants back to the workroom floor….a football field sized area. Three day weekend, cleared the noxious smell. Three or so days later, I noticed the top layer of potting soil was tacky….rubbery. Different pots, different plants, different locations, different height placements. All the same--the nasty fiber smells had been processed by the greenery and the root system pushed it out. I freshened each pot by pulling up the rootball, slicing off the bottom third. I used a fork to open the root pathways, used fresh potting soil to the bottom of the pot. Scraped away one inch of the soil surface and used fresh potting soil. I’ve got other stories as well, my own and others. Friend laid out rubber tile garage floor. Attached garage. Use plants, vary the heights of the pots. Noon the next day, fumes were gone. In this video, the Sansaveria is up against a corner. Bring it out. Half of its leaf surface is cut off. The plant can live 100 years. Biggest problem is overwatering. Run it on the dry side. Every two weeks watering is about right. No plant benefits from tap water. Capture water you use to get to the hot water……save it to use for plants. It’s a good plant to learn propagation. It’s slow, but satisfying because you’re able to share new plants with others. Sansaveria probably saved us. It was a parlor plant that fought against coal and wood burning air found in the home.

Plants do work as purifiers but you need like a whole wall of dense plants per person. One potted plant isn't doing much.
