Bro the Devs get paid regardless of success. They don't care about success or making a good game. They are trying to couple together a money farm like BR games. It's actually pathetic and makes me out game developers on the bottom tier of creation. Like imagine spending your entire life dreaming to be a game developer only to shill to EA and make something this soulless and directionless. I couldn't betray my own kind like that but these guys clearly can. Skat.
I still remember pretty well my first time playing Skate almost 17 years ago and how much the franchise played into my life outside of the controller. I would play Skate and get pumped to actually go skate, come home and play more. Using the replay to slow down and study the mechanics of a kickflip. Being introduced to new music that influenced my taste to this day. Glad to see this heart is still beating
It's just the way the world works now, unfortunately. Game development budgets are bigger than ever, and live service with microtransactions has been proven time and time again to be the most profitable method. At least the game is free to play rather than full AAA price WITH microtransactions like some other games
I think it’s fine, people don’t realize so many people are f2p, and only a small percentage of people drop money. If you wanna cruise and just skate around with friends and have a chill game, this is perfect and it won’t dent your wallet. If you wanna get some crazy cosmetic then drop money and you’ll feel more unique. Lots of young teens are probably gonna be happy to have a good skating game for free
There needs to be an offline mode, especially for mobile. It’d be great being on a train or car journey and being able to mess around in skate without having to be online!
also the gravity looks super low, everything else seems like they're trying to make it more grounded so it rlly takes u out seeing people float through the air
While skating the city is pretty cool, I think it should be a given that there should be normal skateparks dotted around the city as well for authenticity.
1,000% It always felt weird to me how in skate 3 the only spots that are reminiscent of a skatepark are a wildly unrealistic mega/flow park, the starting practice area that looks like the skatepark budget was $250,000,000 and an absolutely massive bowl innocuously thrown into the middle of what looks like a high school track and field practice area. Definitely would love to see a little inspiration taken from the more grounded skateparks of San Van from 1 & 2 to be thrown in alongside some of the more ridiculous stuff.
Musts for this game: 1. Hall of Meat 2. Characters like Meat Man and the skeleton back 3. Single player 4. Owning and killing spots again 5. Photo and films 6. Huge ramps 7. 60fps support
8:12 Seasonal updates are good, but please please please do not have time-limited items and gear. FOMO is such a horrible mechanic and make it so if you join into the game late into its lifecycle, you can't get something you really want because it's gone forever. Add the items and keep them accessible at all times, regardless of when you start playing. That's my biggest request.
Pretty cool how over the last 2 years of showing gameplay, the bottom right tag had went from “pre-pre-pre-alpha” to “pre-pre-alpha”, they’re getting there guys! :D Edit: every time I get a ping on this comment I get closer to cte, stop it with the braindead takes and let the game marinate🤫🧏♂️
My biggest worry is that the game is moving away from the gritty, reckless, and crude nature of skating that was in the previous titles. Being able to get into fights, get hit by cars, and break all your bones are must have features in my opinion. Skating isn't all bright colors and smiles!
Hope this world is much more like Skate 1 and 2 than 3, we need that "gritty/dirty/grunge" aesthetic with thrashed concrete and streets, damaged structures, graffiti filled skateparks and street spots, DIY spots etc etc. I don't mind a bright vibrant colour pallet, but maybe some optional filters you can customise in a menu could be cool? I just want that Skate 2 vibe.
Offline mode would be sick, but I think the most we will get is at the very least, private servers for you and your friends. I hope we get that on launch, as I wouldn't want to play with randoms all the time.
Or ever... Imagine. Thinking skating was a team sport just because we are all cool with each other at the park Like bro I don't want to take turns on a rail because 3 people are hitting it. Like GTFO
It's astounding how many people keep saying "don't go live service, please let there be an offline mode, don't monetize everything" and it all falls on the deafest ears, for Skate 4.
they've been telling people that it'll be a live service free to play game, people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think the team will just completely change what type of game this is gonna be
Mate, they are telling us there will be micro transactions and season passes without telling us there will be micro transactions and season passes. Zero transparency.
This is the only feature I need to be 100% sold on this title. I’ll be enjoying the multiplayer with friends, but I really want the option to play alone without being online.
I played the cracked version offline and it controlled perfectly. But then I got the legit playtest which is online only and I couldn't do any of my tricks because the lag busted the input detection. If there's no offline, I'll just stick to Session, the cracked pre-pre-pre-alpha of Skate or Skate 1.
I don't want free to play. I don't want to have to spend 100s of dollars to unlock all content. That's some literal bull .... I will not support this game. Fu that
Brands I would like to see 1. Trukfit 2. Cactus jack 3. Bape Hairstyles 1. Dreads 2.Twist 3. different type of braids Things I would like to see 1. Private skate park 2. Offline mode 3. Some type of game chat 4. Game modes And what would be crazy tuff if we would be able to have skate contests against other players in the lobby
Yeah or at least have different sections of this city. I was already thinking same thing and hope there are some grungy spots not just all solid bright colors
The worlds cities have never looked more grungy and graffiti'd. I want stuff like spots with homeless that chase you if you bother them and graffiti guy npcs that sell you rare items and can tell you about rare roof spots and the whole urban feel skate had
That’s a pretty reasonable assumption, don’t get your hopes up on the full game being out by then though. If they take their time for the whole development process like they are right now, it’ll probably be a bit longer. good thing is that it puts less stress on the developers, and we’ll probably end up with a better game!
@@AngryecksButActually so true too many games get rushed now cause devs wanna meet a timeline these guys are showing us so much improvement and I cannot wait to see what the final product looks like I'll happily pay for season passes if the game is great and it means we get more love and efoort put into this came more than what has already been shown cause these guys made my childhood and they know what to do so I want them to take their time and make it as best they can
I really hope there's a low camera like skate 1 and 2, it always made skating feel a lot more dynamic and fun. I also wish for a custom skate park creator like Skate 3, it's my favorite feature of that game.
I hope they populate the levels with more everyday structures, I feel like the designers just slap ramps n rails everywhere in an otherwise blank area. You do realize that isn't like skating in reality, finding a spot isn't coming across a hidden ramp, it's just us interprating everyday obstacles into something to skate upon, seeing it through our skater eyes. Session nailed this with their levels. So packed full of interesting obstacles.

I'm really worried about the "community" aspect of this game. I personally don't like multiplayer games. I want to play Skate alone, with NPCs and a real story mode. I don't want to play some kind of Fornite type crap game. I want to explore by myself, and not be annoyed by other players skating in MY city.
100%. I'm not interested in social games with a million rewards and points systems and currency. When I log in to one of those types of games and there's all these notices about "SEASON 5 UPDATES" and "NEW GEAR" and all this other spammy crap cluttering the UI, I get so turned off. I never ever spend a dime on these types of games, but I would gladly pay full price for a single player game with a lot of single-player content, and an OPTION for multiplayer if I feel like trying something new for a few minutes and then go back to single-player.
Yeah as hype as I am, there's a part of me that is deeply concerned. I don't mind some opt-in social interactivity and couch-co-op, but always online MMO Skate doesn't sound very chill at all 😭 plus microtransactions 😭😭😭
they're trying hard for a fortnite type game, its gonna flop then lose support making it a dead, unsupported & unplayable game. Watch them shut down the servers within a few years
@@SebastianOchoa-h9f No, but it needs a level of realism to translate cool tricks actually being cool to pull off! It's fun learning how to skate because you subsequently learn how to do new things that are fairly dangerous if not done properly, and it feels amazing to finally be comfortable enough and skilled enough to do! If everything is floaty and arcadey everyone is going to fly around the map doing the exact same tricks in the first week and the game will die faster than concord! It needs realistic visuals to translate the brutal and unforgiving world of skateboarding!
One of the things that really stuck with me from playing skate 3 and interacting with it's community is that most people have a district where they basically never go, for me it was downtown, for others it was industrial or university... Do you (the devs) feel like you know what made certain districts feel inaccessible or otherwise unfun for certain demographics of players, and do you have a plan to hopefully address that for skate 4? I realize that this is just asking "people have likes and dislikes, do you plan to make people have less dislikes," but I'm genuinely curious if there were design lessons that you learned from community feedback on an area-wide scale that you plan on taking into account as you design new areas?
Still haven't seen a single flowy baggy pants that stacks on the shoes. Look around guys skateboarders are not wearing rolled up pants as if we were in the odd future/ tyler the creator 2015ish era. (I don’t need to see socks unless you wear jorts)

We need a feature to be able to film "co op" skate footage. One guy holds the camera and follows the other guy
🔥
This is the one bro
yuppp
Seems like a huge waste of dev time
who tf would wanna play as a filmer? skating just ahead of someone else and doing no tricks lmao
Offline story mode and being able to unlock accessories and clothes by playing is what we need, just like skate 3
could i just pay $60-70 for a non free-to-play microtransaction version 😭
60 not 70
It's just the way the world works now, unfortunately. Game development budgets are bigger than ever, and live service with microtransactions has been proven time and time again to be the most profitable method. At least the game is free to play rather than full AAA price WITH microtransactions like some other games
@@cr0ss414 I mean you're not wrong. That is a silver lining. It's just a shame that THAT is where the bar is at, I guess.
I was about to say this. I rather spend the 70 dollars for a game like this.
I hope there's a story mode
There needs to be an offline mode, especially for mobile. It’d be great being on a train or car journey and being able to mess around in skate without having to be online!
Needs:
1) Offline/ single player story mode
Wants:
1) Primo slides/ flips, casper flips/ stalls
2) One foot manuals
Dual stick (one for each foot) and a realistic catch mode!
also the gravity looks super low, everything else seems like they're trying to make it more grounded so it rlly takes u out seeing people float through the air
While skating the city is pretty cool, I think it should be a given that there should be normal skateparks dotted around the city as well for authenticity.
1,000% It always felt weird to me how in skate 3 the only spots that are reminiscent of a skatepark are a wildly unrealistic mega/flow park, the starting practice area that looks like the skatepark budget was $250,000,000 and an absolutely massive bowl innocuously thrown into the middle of what looks like a high school
track and field practice area.
Definitely would love to see a little inspiration taken from the more grounded skateparks of San Van from 1 & 2 to be thrown in alongside some of the more ridiculous stuff.
Musts for this game:
1. Hall of Meat
2. Characters like Meat Man and the skeleton back
3. Single player
4. Owning and killing spots again
5. Photo and films
6. Huge ramps
7. 60fps support

You can see it looks like 3 though, it wont change
I just touched on this myself. Nobody actually wants this happyland bullshit aesthetic. Give us something real ffs
It's like the texture guy just hasn't submitted anything yet so we just get this shiny placeholder turd aesthetic

Offline mode would be sick, but I think the most we will get is at the very least, private servers for you and your friends. I hope we get that on launch, as I wouldn't want to play with randoms all the time.
Or ever...

There is a low cam in 3 tho?
ABSOLUTELY NEEDS A "MY PARK" where you have your own skate spot you can play with friends

The lore has to be good enough that Game Theory could do a video on it lol
My idea for a extra feature: FPV drone mode, filming your friends with a freestyle quad would be so much fun!
