Hi guys!
Time to leave the farm for a few days to spend time at Baba Vera’s (my Grandma) house in Pazardjik, Bulgaria (Southern Balkans). Of course, life with Baba is centered around FOOD (very very delicious food 😋) and I thought it would be exciting to share some of what she cooks with you! We all know there is nothing better than a home cooked meal from Grandma 👵🏻❤️🌶️🧅🥕🥬🥩🥘

Hi guys!
My name is Laurie and I dropped city life (Manhattan, New York) for a simple farm life. I literally woke up one morning and realized NYC wasn’t for me. I booked a ticket (the same day), packed a little suitcase and moved to a teeny-tiny Bulgarian village- lost in time. And when I say lost in time I mean lost-in-time. No time crunching jobs, no watching the clock, hardly any internet service at all really. Imagine a village from the Middle Ages… that’s pretty much what you get here. And I’m loving every second of

It really is and this is one of the reasons I love Bulgaria so much❤️🇧🇬 But yes, it would not be the same without our Bulgarian Babas! 👵🏻
Hi from Malta and thanks for sharing with us ,love watching your vedeos .God bless you and especially your grandmas ,we call that soup meatball soup and our daughter only eats that from all soups ,love Bulgaria we visit once or twice a year as my husbund was born there ,it is our 2nd home though we can only go for holidays .❤

Yes! My little sister would also only eat “soupa topcheta” (meatball soup) when she was little. I have to admit, after “shkembe chorba”, it is my favorite soup too. 😋
It sounds like you are very lucky, being able to travel between Malta and Bulgaria- the best of both worlds!

Torties are wonderful! She's doing really well for her age. Especially if she recently had a litter of kittens.

The one cabbage dish looks like what we (locally) call 'Hunky Hand Grenades'. The soup, seems similar to Italian wedding soup (I'm not Italian, just Italian-friendly LOL). Thanks for another fun video! Please tell Баба Нина she inspired me to make мекици this weekend. Regarding the soup- yes!! That’s exactly the Italian soup I was thinking about but just couldn’t remember the name 😄.
OMG! I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW EXCITED BABA NINA GOT WHEN I TOLD HER SHE INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE МЕКИЦИ!!! I wrote back to you on Instagram but have to tell you again. She was soooooo flattered 😃😄😃😄. Try putting a little bit of Bulgarian cheese (Greek Feta works too) in the batter. I forgot to mention that in the video. It is the secret to it all and cherry on top! 😋😋 Just make sure you add only a tiny bit so it’s more of an accent flavor. Otherwise it will become too overpowering.

@@sistersofbulgaria9396 🤣 "Hunky Hand Grenades" is what we call stuffed cabbage rolls. That term is at least a hundred years old. Comes from 'mill hunkies'...a term that was used for European immigrants who came here to work in the steel mills. I could go on for hours about that subject. Suffice to say that those are tales of the American dream. I'm so glad I was able to get your babas to smile. Apologies for my lack of Bulgarian today - been a long week and it's only Wednesday! Some rakia would help! LOL
