I like the topeak mini 9 as it weighs in at 92g, has 2-8 mm and a t25. I really don't want to be carrying around anything more than I need. I don't work on my bike with my multi-tool I just fix things on the trail with it. I've adjusted brake calipers on the trail without problems. I have a full toolbox, bike stand, full size pump in my car most of the time. I haven't broken a chain in 3 years, but that's the only thing I think I could add to my kit.
I think your tool and maybe add a few things if one wants is a good choice. I sort of just want loose or fold out Allen and torque, an 8x10mm wrench and a small stand alone chain breaker. I'm intrigued by a combination chain pliers/breaker I've seen but you've got to stop somewhere...
I like the Topeak light kit with their chain tool added. I also will bring a Gerber multi tool on longer rides or places where help is not an option. You guys ever review first aide kits? Im a total trail dad.
I would recommend watching something by a paramedic or similar on first aid, for the same reason I watch bike tool videos from people who use bike tools on a regular basis
Leatherman type tools that have a bit driver and buying the bits you need is a strategy if you're not weight conscious. I carry a Skeletool a lot anyway so buying the bit extension and bits for my bike is a way of handling Allen and Torx needs up to a point. I have regular bike tools now but I could eliminate some this way and have pliers along too. Also I usually carry a knife so the bike multitools that have a knife don't appeal to me. A separate folding knife that weighs 1 or 2 ounces isn't hard to find or carry. Also I'm often carrying my Skeletool, which with an extension can drive normal hex bits... Some knife bases tools without pliers can drive bits too.
My free multi tool that came with my bike broke so this video is well timed. Would like to see a review on the wolf tooth encase that one kind of got my attention but don’t see much about it
The best tools are the ones you bring with you. Figure out what sizes your bike has the most bolts of and make sure the tool you have works. Look at your rear derailleur, makes sure you have that shimano or SRAM tool, they don’t use the same one.
Informative but the video and audio quality made it difficult to watch. The video is pretty dark and the audio at 6:30 was much louder than the first half of the video. Thank you again for the information about the multi-tools available!

I had the multi tool, but It didn't have chain pliers and my weak hands couldn't get the chain master link on by hand. Luckily someone else was prepared. cheers!
whats your opinon on the one up edc tool its small and because of its never forget nature its been the multi tool that i always seem to have with me, that and the specialized swat tool
We love that more brands are offering on board tool storage and it’s definitely great way to make sure you never forget to pack one! However some are bare essentials, which are great for local rides and if you’ve got a dialed bike, but these are options for riders who may be new to riding and don’t quite have an idea on if they need a mega tool or something slimmer and smaller. On board tools are great though! Love em
For me its the fix it sticks every time. There's always plenty of torque, length in tool, and choice. the kit can be expanded or knocked down per your needs for the ride or bike. Fix it sticks and forget it!
Im aware this indicates "3 years ago" - but I am reasonably sure that even then, literally NO ONE said "Multeye-tool" "Shoot, my caliper is so loose, it's close to falling off" Joe, do you have your mult-eye tool?"
humble opinion - best multitool: victorinox with an additional 10mm socket. its the lighest yet the most usable which is a rare thing - because it has a proper allen key and you can even choose which bits you need for your bike. super easy to use too.

I love the Crankbrother's multi-tool. I have the M17 and the M19. I don't ride w/o it.

I've had a lezyene tool and it's going strong after 7 years
We’ve definitely had a few of there’s for well over 5 years and going

Crankbros F15 :)
It's great til the pin on the chain tool snaps in half.

Instablaster.
The fold up Park Tool sets are made by Bondhus, you can buy the same exact tools through them for a bit cheaper.
When you carry the silica do you carry anything else along with it? Any thoughts on the silica vs the lezyene?

Thanks we had some issues in this video for sure as we had a new gear we were testing out. We've not used it again as you could imagine.
*cough* Crank brothers F15 *Cough*
*cough* Oneup EDC *cough*
I also use the F15. awesome piece of kit.
Check the Super T Handle Metric set, a compact new design that solves the rotational problem when torque is not needed (at Amazon).
Need all of these

CranckbroM19 and Silca 😍

Thanks for the reply Aaron! That's definitely a nice feature of some tools which have chain hooks to hold the chain while you install the new link.
If you ever get stuck in a situation like that again just use a shoe lace!
Unless one gets those tire levers that slot together to make chain pliers I'm not carrying them and I'll use a shoelace or cord...
Wish Leatherman type multitool would make one for mtb, for everyday plyers and knife then all the wrenches for mtb
Me too I wonder why they haven’t
Wolf tooth is sort of like a leatherman.

What do you think about Topeak Hexus X? In my opinion has everything except for a blade that colud be useful
Haven’t actually used one but well try and get one to use for a future review
Wolf tooth?
ANY OF THESE MADE IN THE GREAT USA

It's actually called the PB Swiss Biketool. They do produce it for Victorinox too but it's just branding, as it is manufactured by PB Swiss.
Too dark
