I'd think a lot of the issues with traffic come up more because of bad urban planning. It's pretty on par with other similar sized cities imo. But im texan so im used to zooming around and less slow country driving. For some reason id rather get passed by someone going 30 over in houston than have to wait behind someone while they come to a complete stop to turn right onto a side street. But i think that shows more about my own level of impatience than anything else. Lived here for two years but getting out soon, best of luck! Cool vids

Lived in Lafayette for abt 14 years now but moved to Austin TX and learned how to drive there. And god is it easy to drive here compared to Baton Rouge, Austin, or Houston.

Lafayette, La. is way over populated, you can no longer smell flowers or fresh air, there's so much traffic now that all you can smell is exhaust fumes, it's worse than the Santa Monica freeway "/

I'm glad I moved up north of Alexandria, La. Where there are plenty of trees, flowers, and fresh air 😊

Your 1st CON should be the theme for any part of LA fwiw 😁
For traffic I just revisit my Lafayette LA area, and the traffic is horrible, e.g Ambr Caffery could be 45-60min to get from 167 to HWY90. The traffic for a city area with a population of less than 160k is just bad.

My apartment was off Verot School Road and it was a bloody nightmare at rush hour. LUCKILY, my classes were rarely at that time, so I could leave when the traffic wasn't so bad, but then getting to ULL was ... fun. I still loved it though, and I'd come back in a heartbeat. I'll get you to find me a cheap house. :D

Verot has gotten a lot better lately with some road widening and improvements!!
And yes I got you!! Tell me what kind of houses you like and come back to the best city!! 🏠👍

The bus service is bad. They run every hour if they're on time. Most bus stops don't have a bench or cover so you're standing in the weather. Transferring buses is a half a day ordeal with waiting up to an hour for the second bus after waiting up to an hour for the first, and same thing going home. The buses don't provide good coverage of the city, there can be long walks from the bus stop to get places. The buses switch to night schedule in the afternoons, which are longer more convoluted routes, stop completely around 6pm, and don't run on sundays.

Houston is flat as well. Exactly! The traffic in Houston is HORRIBLE and very accident prone!

I was waiting for you to talk about the lack of "career positions" in Lafayette. I mean positions where a person can tend to a mortgage and raise a family. I'm not talkin' about the chicken crap jobs where you go clock in and do all this butt crack kissin' and still be broke and on foods stamps. There is plenty of that in Lafayette, they're all over the damn place. They is a severe lack of industry in Lafayette and therefore no stable foundation on which one can maintain a middle class lifestyle, especially if you're single. If I knew then what I know now, I would have moved the h*ll out of Lafayette when I was younger.

You forgot to say lack of jobs, poor economy, they practice too much nepotism when it comes to employment for jobs & poor healthcare & school system. I’m glad I’m back in my home state of Texas.

Youngsville is too small and congested. I hate when everyone knows everyone and their business. No privacy.

Horrible place now. In the 80’s 90’s and early 2000’s it was nice. All changed after Katrina. It’s gotten worse every year since then. And the heat is brutal and life sucking.

Traffic in Lafayette is better than NOLA & Baton Rouge! Better food in Lafayette, friendliest people in Lafayette. So I rebuke your cons!!
