    Great video, ordered the part from E bay (using my camcorders model number), took it apart and fixed it. The part was about 10 dollars and took me about 20 minutes.

    Thanks a lot, I have exactly the same problem! Just ordered the flex cable at ebay and hopefully I will be able to repair my camera with the help of your video!

      I am so glad to be able to help someone with my video! Was skeptical at first and having to tape it with one hand and fix the camera with the other proved to be "a hand full"! Pun intended! Thanks for watching!

      ***** Finally received my 2 flex cables (one spare) for only $3,89 (www.ebay.com/itm/261304164900). Repairing the camera was more work then expected, but with the help of your video I managed to get it fixed!
      By the way, looking at the original cable, you have to wind it around the rotor 2 times. And you need to take out the rotor from the LCD screen first otherwise the cable cannot be correctly winded around the axle. Also, I had to remove 4 screws from the main cover (see 11:21) to loosen it: 2 from the side and 2 from the bottom.
      Thanks a lot, I am pretty sure I would never being able to repair it without the help of your video.

      I might have missed a few steps in putting all of the videos together. My apologies! Although I am very glad to have helped you fix your video camera. That was the hole point of the video. We both saved several $100 in repair! Chalk up one for the man!

    Thanks for this vid., I had same problem with a different model Everio. My case layout is different but this helped. I would recommend labeling each screw position. I didn't and I ended up stripping a few threads. I had trouble figuring out where the magnet went on the spring arm also. Got it all back working anyway and for only 3 bucks.

      Unfortunately I am not a camera repairman and I simply tried to repair my own because at that point, I had nothing to loose.
      What is your problem, I might be able to help the best I can.

    Thank you for sharing! I have the exact camera with the exact problem! It worked yesterday at my son's high school graduation, but did not work this morning at my daughters' elementary school talent show...grrr! Do you have a part number for the flex cable you ordered? I need my camera for a dance recital ASAP, but I don't know what cable to order. Thank you in advance!

      eBay does not let me go back to see my older purchases. Simply do a search for the model of your camera with the words flex cable and you should be able to find some.

    Hello, thanks for the vid. I was curious, mine has a white screen, do you think it could be the flex cable as well or a diff. issue? Its pretty much brand new. Havent messed with it in a couple of years and we only used it a hand full of times and one day the screen was just white??

    • @denmarcbros
      @denmarcbros  10 років тому

      Hummmm, go through the first few steps of the video where I disconnect the LCD panel from the main recorder (5:19) to display the flex cable and inspect it a bit closer. I could actually see the break in mine. I was able to open the LCD screen and allow the flex to move back which kept its connection and display. As soon as I held the cable in place, which is what the housing does, I noticed the break and I lost the display. Hope this helps and hope you can find your problem!

    I just brought a JVC Everio GZ-MG77U.
    Tried 2 SD cards in them, SDHC(32GB), SDXC(64GB). Neither of them work in the camera.
    Would you happen to know a compatible SD card I could buy?
    Thanks in advance..

    My JVC GZ-MG630SU is not working. Whenever I open it, it just won't turn on!!! I tried charging it but it says it's full. I don't know what to do, can you help me?

    • @denmarcbros
      @denmarcbros  7 років тому

      Hi, I am not a camera repair person but there are a few things you can try. If your model of JVC has a screen that can swivel/spin and close with the display looking outwards, try turning the camera on then. If you see video, it probably means that the flex cable is broke and needs changing. Wiggle the LCD display while watching for video and if you see any slight video, it is definitely the flex cable. Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    I have a JVC Everio Camcorder.
    Model: GZ-HD40AA.
    It has not been used for over a year. Now, the zoom & the volume control doesn't work.
    Zoom & volume control are the same switch.
    Is it worth repairing?

      Hello Walter, unfortunately I am not qualified to answer this for you. I am just a regular Joe that was able to fix my problems with a faulty flex cable. Are you having problems with the LCM monitor sensors or the physical switches on the camera itself? If it is the first, It might be related to the flex cable. If it is the actual buttons or switches, it might be something physically related to the logic boards. I wish I was able to help more.

    hey i just went through this whole thing, nice video. I ordered the flex cable and just got done putting it back together, still no screen view. there's a different noise now when it opens. two bleeps. you know what that might be?

    • @denmarcbros
      @denmarcbros  9 років тому

      +Switch Not sure offhand but the beeps mean that something is not connected right. Make sure the flex cable is properly connected on the camera's circuit board and the LCD display screen. Also make sure that the cable is not plugged upside down or on the reverse side.

      +LigiaCristina Arias Take down the model number of your video camera and do a search on eBay (Flex cable for Model xxxxx). I was able to find mine for about $4. It came from Hong Kong and took about 3 weeks to receive it. Still working fine to this day!

      I am not a camera technician but it looks like your SD card(s) might be malfunctioning. Try simply removing it (them) and restart the camera. Might have to replace the SD card(s) or format it (them).

    • @denmarcbros
      @denmarcbros  9 років тому

      bensmusicworld I am sure that the general replacement of the flex cable will be the same. The differences might be the way to dismantle the camera to get to the cable itself. Make sure you order the right flex cable for your device. Thanks for watching.
