The new EASA Drone Regulations are now in force in the UK. If you're asking where can I fly my drone under the new rules, then this video will explain what restrictions and permissions you have under the new rules, including self build and FPV drones. If you're asking 'where can I fly my drone' or 'can I fly my drone at the beach' then this will explain where you can fly and how to find more places to fly. I explain how Article 16 under Flying Club membership gives you more rights and how the A2CofC will also help you fly in many more new locations. I also describe the DroneScene.co.uk site on how to explore and discover more places to fly in the UK.
There are many tricks and tips you can use to fly in more places under the new rules, so make the most of them and get flying....

Like yourself I live in the countryside, I asked the farmers years ago if they objected to myself if I flew over their land i hold a pfco operating licence so ok for now , not 1 farmer objected, as a result of lockdown 1, I caught a fly tipper dumping his mess across the entrance to a farmers field.
Do you still have your phantom? You should do a review of a 4 or 5 year old phantom against say the Mini 2 or air 2
@@stussyhuff I've found illegal metal detectorists, fly campers and poachers - and that helps me get permissions from their neighbours.
I asked the local church, which usca beautiful subject. They said yes and asked could I help the Church Warden check the roof after the next storm (he's a bit long in the tooth to climb up that high). They have less than a dozen in their congregation on a Sunday, so I'm not putting a professional out of a job, and I can donate some footage for their website while I'm at it, which might attract a few more to their community. I am sure it will win our community friends too, and open up some great locations for videography around the diocese.

Thanks for making the new rules a bit more clear. Will be interesting to see your next one about the A2 C of C. Personally if I’d done the pfco I’d be spitting feathers now. Hopefully this new course will be a bit more relevant to the hobby. 😊
Good stuff . I intend to start flying more FPV as i have spent most of lock down doing this, will be joining FPV UK, for the freedoms. I do think you are a good information base for this hobby hence my subscribing. Mostly i fly at coastal areas for the scenery and i am so conscious of keeping away from people its now paranoid flying lol. Will continue to watch , thanks Ian

Hi Ian I can vouch for the UAVHUB A2CofC course. I have just completed it. Very informative managed to get 100% in the test. I would recommend that anyone who does this course to keep doing the mock exam. I did my mock exam (the questions change every time) over 30 times just so I was very familiar with the type of questions that would be asked. The actual exam took me less than 10 minutes even thought the time frame is 75 minutes. Very good video as ever. Let’s just hope everyone with a MM(2) doesn’t wreck this for us all by being a bit daft and upsetting everyone/neighbours. Here is my thumbs up to you, again pal. 👍
Just got my A2 CoC reasonably straightforward if you do your homework no trick questions and mostly safety oriented. The new regs are a faf really sorry for anyone who just did PFCO or anyone who wants to just fly occasionally. Another great video Ian 👍
Thank you for this video and your previous one as well. I got a Mini 2 and have basically been a bit wary of even trying it in my local area or beach not knowing what is and is not allowed no matter how much I read. This has clarified this for me and put my mind at ease. i have prepared and taken the new test and got the number on the drone and also think I Will take the extra course as you can never learn too much.
The A2cofc won't give more permission to you if you're flying the Mini but as you say, extra learning is good...

Amazing vid Ian, getting a Mavic Mini in a couple days so not too many restrictions!
Passed my A2 C of C on Friday with UAVHub. Personally, I found the course content interesting, well presented, well structured and highlighted some scenarios that I previously hadn’t considered. I was initially worried about it but it didn’t take long to settle into the learning and enjoyed it.

For me this is an absolute win. Used to fly a Mavic 2 Pro for a company so already had the PfCO training and know how to do the documentation, but it was so much paperwork and cost for nothing.
Got the Mini 2 as my personal drone and looking forward to getting some nice footage this summer.
Thanks for another easy to follow and really helpful video. Good news for the congested area explanation you provided, which was my main concern here. I use my Mavic Air for filming my mtb rides, so being around people has never been to much of an issue for me as always riding away from built up area. My bigger concern was not being able to film whilst riding in parks and on beaches. Your comments suggest as can still this, as long as the parks and beaches are pretty much empty. Hi Ian, as always excellent clear explanation on these new rules and again thanks to you I’ve got a much better understanding of them , I’m only a hobby flyer but as I love my M2P and want to keep flying it and your explanation really helps, I will be adding a mini 2 in the spring but hopefully will be able to keep flying the M2P . As a PS Would really like to see a updated view on the usefulness of the DJI smart controller as to if it’s worth it now , if you ever get the time . Thanks again and all the best, stay safe.

I just completed the A2 CofC course with UAVHub. Worth every Penny. Loads of tutorials and mock exams to try. Study at your own pace. You will learn so much on this course. Take off and fly from your own garden during lockdown is a bonus.
Thanks for the further information Ian. Once the lockdowns have shifted will be going to more remote areas for my filming. Perhaps i will give in at some point for the CofC examination.

Nice to have a bit of positivity being pushed, well done Ian and onwards and, upwards to you and your channel for 2021.
Personally im sticking with sub 250g but have registered and have operator and flyer ids now, gonna try make the most of it too this year.
Hopefully remote id wont wipe out the whole lagacy status and the sub 250 freedoms.
Also, kinda feel that with the freedom we have been given there has also been a free rope to hang ourselves with! If people are not too considerate of privacy, like you touched on, or we see some actual cases of drones harming people or crashing into property, I have a feeling they will tie up this hobby even tighter!
But thats me hoping for the best and expecting the worst!

Good videos, same as yourself I have the old PfCO and have just completed my A2 CofC Cse with UAVHub. Very good Cse, well delivered and easy to follow. If you already have a PfCO you will have no trouble passing the A2 CofC, in my opinion it’s worthwhile to get it under your belt.
