    To all those saying that first constable was only a boy, get a brain, its you that's passed your sell buy date. 😂
    Many years ago my mother was discovered dead in her bed. The police had to break into the home. The constable who discovered my mother was only a young chap, it was his first home death and as policy dictates, he has to stand guarding the premises until the corpse is permitted to be removed. It was seen he was upset and to make matters worse for him, the first hearse broke down and it was a further two hours for another hearse to become available, by that time he was over his shifts finishing time. The police treated my mother with respect and dignity for they could have just placed her in a black body bag and away to the morgue in a black transit van. Thankfully that procedure was curtailed shortly before then.
    There was another time, i was listening to a documentary on the radio, it was a fireman telling what his first call out was, a building site, bagging the body parts of a workman who had been churned over by bulldozer caterpillar tracks. Yes the world has moved on and i agree not for the better, but yet we still dont know what tomorrow brings, so dont ridicule please, for it may well be a young constable calling at your door informing of your offspring being killed in, lets say a vehicle crash.

Having been followed and accosted in the past I now wear body armour and carry cuffs, leg restraints, body worn video and a Farb gell spray. The spray is a bright red indelible colour and authorised by the Home Office. I have spoken to headquarters and they confirmed it is all legal.

    To my knowledge it's only illegal to unlawfully use handcuffs and not carry them. Using handcuffs is classed as assault even when police use them so for a member of the public to use handcuffs then it would have to be for an indictable or either way offence or it would be an assault.

    • @UNAI.EMERY.
      @UNAI.EMERY. Рік тому

      @PINACI wrong it's illegal In conclusion, even if owning handcuffs is allowed in the UK, carrying them openly without a valid purpose is prohibitedThe Criminal Justice Act of 1988 states that it is illegal to carry anything with the aim to use it on someone else or to have it on you while committing or getting ready to commit a crime.

    • @PINACI
      @PINACI Рік тому

      @@UNAI.EMERY. Its not illegal to carry handcuffs and its lawful for a person to use them on someone if a recordable offence has been committed. A security guard or a store detective can carry and use handcuff and so can you. Anyone is free to carry pink fluffy handcuffs in a public place and could even use those handcuffs if they needed to use section 24a of PACE on someone who just committed an indictable offence.

      Incorrect, an offensive weapon in a public place is anything made, adapted or intended to cause harm- if they have a lawful reason for having it then it’s not considered an offensive weapon. A hammer isn’t illegal to own or carry in public, if you’ve just bought one from a shop and are taking it home or maybe you’re a builder and you’re working in a public place… but if you’re carrying it in public with the intent of smashing someone’s head in, then it becomes an offensive weapon. Same thing for bladed articles, a carpenter may have a lawful reason, or a bushcraft instructor etc.
      This gentleman has confirmed his intent is to only use them in an absolute emergency, to prevent someone from harming themselves or others. They’re not intended to cause anyone harm, which is why the officer is satisfied with his justification. He can carry them and potentially use them, but their use would have to be proportionate and necessary to remain a lawful use of force.
      If he was caught trespassing in a house with them, he could potentially be nicked for aggravated burglary etc.
      Other than the specific list of banned weapons, it’s all about intent and context.

    The problem is, if security carry cuffs and they do decide to cuff someone it’s hard to stop counterclaims of false imprisonment or misuse of the cuffs. It takes more training than just wacking them on. They need to be in the perfect position, tightness and checked every 20 mins or so plus documented along with an operational statement / use of force form for their justification when it’s anything other than non compliant cuffing.
    With the correct competencies achieved security can carry them and use them as long as they look after them-self and don’t leave them-self open to complaint.

    • @BANAMAN
      @BANAMAN  2 роки тому +3

      Adding to this, anybody deciding to apply handcuffs to restrain somebody needs to justify why they used handcuffs. Training the best use of handcuffs is available but not a legal requirement to carry of use them and anybody applying handcuffs is accountable for the procedures implemented in any one scenario. Thanks for your comment Lee.

      Hate seeing security guards carrying rigid speed cuffs if they absolutely have to carry cuffs a standard chain link set should be enough

    • @HogwartsBasement
      @HogwartsBasement 2 роки тому

      @@D9742-y5z handcuffs are handcuffs at the end of the day, the chain linked ones in the uk are more used for transport providers and preferred for a reason this is to allow the user to manipulate the person into a vehicle etc or hospital, where using them for the purposes of detainment and restraint scenario in what’s mentioned above all if proportional, appropriate, necessary, justifiable and lawful and ethical then any restraint could be justified even rope if that’s all you had to protect yourself them-self and others and to allow the police to provide the person before the courts of law.
      The current standards are using TCH840 for normal policing & detainment use, these provide more control over the situation allowing the detained to be unable to easily access sharp objects from pockets or concealed in body, it will avoid flexibility for detained people to retrieve substances from their groin / rear reducing their harm.
      TCH (total control handcuffs) are replacing the ageing hiatt branded ones in most uk forces. Any hiatts still around will more than likely be faulty unless they belong or belonged to a lazy person. These old hiatt cuffs are usually sold on eBay for about £20 but are usually packed in by that point you’d be better buying new 840’s.
      TCH820 is the chain linked one this is a favourite for prisoner escort from HMP, G4S , Geoamey, care in custody etc and provides the most comfort. These are relatively unsuitable for non compliant prisoners, they can be linked to an officer if required and the officer would wear a leather wrist protector. This is the only cuff they should be using to link themself to a prisoner and under no circumstances use a rigid (like in line of duty at the end)
      TCH850 seems to be good for storage if that’s what your after but gives the advantage of rigidity, forces won’t use these in normal operations as they are too expensive & prefer the £30 option rather than £60.
      You can get the TCH840 in anodised black and double sided key entry which can really help.
      Reducing Inserts are available to put inside the double arm to reduce the wrist size for smaller peoples wrists.
      Hope that helped someone decide their next purchase

      @@Audit-The-Auditors The problem with a police body worn camera is the fact that they more often than not usually point the wrong way. With an independent person operating a camera, they can capture both sides of any problem unlike one camera on a police officer pointing away from them and only capturing one line of sight. Of course there are times when police officers get caught up in a problem and suffer from a situation. But in my opinion and with many interactions I have seen at peaceful protests, it's only when police officers are trying to tell people where they can and can not go that there is usually any problems. I always think that if police officers stay away from the protesters and observe from a distance, then people would carry on with their rights to protest unhindered by the police! For reference, I myself I am not anti police, just anti (police corruption).

      Well you're right but you'd be surprised how many answer this type of question wrong.
      Eg. (This was a mate of mine)He carries a cricket bat in his car for protection as he does pizza del in some dodgy spots... Police stop him and spot it on the back seat and ask him why it's there. Now his answer should have been I was playing with my son in the park today and we lost the ball,I put the bat there an we looked for it for ages but it got dark so had to head home.Forgot about the bat.
      Instead he said it's there incase someone tries to rob me....
      Result = Charged with carrying an offensive weapon.

Armed police are only required for certain circumstances, where professional highly trained shooters are required to deal with a life or death scenario. Regular officers do not need guns, they don’t need specialised training, that’s why the training is “specialised”. I’m quite happy I don’t have to worry about a rookie police officer being trusted with a gun. I don’t have to worry that a police officer is going to shoot me because I moved a bit weird. Would you have preferred it if these officers tried to arrest him instead of the polite way they sealed with it? Why not have them pull their guns out and escalate situation?
