My wife passed away in December. I had never made white rice. Came out perfect with your recipe. She made tremendous sofrito and I have the recipe for that. Used it for the beans and viola, I have perfect rice and beans, mmmmmmm. Thanks. Will look into your other recipes. How lucky your husband and children are. My husband is Puerto Rican and I do cook alot of Spanish food but so far yours is the closet to how I've learned from his family. You made me laugh when you said that 1 tablespoon of water can mess up the whole pot of rice bc I had to really learn that bc different people in my husbands family use different amounts of water and some use med and some long grain rice so I really had to go by the way my husband likes it. The one thing i feel like almost everyone is missing from their recipe is the alumunuim foil under the top while cooking. Makes a hell of a difference in texture and flavor. And maybe even some garlic. but i love this!

You can substitute the potatoes for pumpkin or slightly ripened sliced maduros and you can substitute the Salsichon for smoked ham or salsichas (Vienna sausage) thanks for watching 😊

I love the fact that you didn't rinse the rice. There is no need to. I never rinse and my rice is never clumpy or sticky but I prepare my white rice the way a friend from Colombia showed me how. First you toast (no color tho they turn opaque) the rice in the oil to seal the grains (that prevents the release of a lot of starch) then you add the water and salt. Bring to a boil and go from there similar to what you do.
That’s funny my family always uses extra virgin olive oil for almost everything including rice lol. Also, I can’t use a caldero since they are not induction compatible, just a stainless steel pot (mine is all clad). I just subscribed because I love how real you are:-)

Keeping it real.. always when I’m cooking for guests.. most of the time for my home unless I’m in a rush (which I was that day 😊).. but I always go through it to make sure there aren’t any dark grains or anything else. I usually just throw it in a small colander and wash and drain it there
Honestly 99% of the time I wash my rice .. there has been very few times im in a rush and I didn’t but I never go without washing my rice when I’m feeding anybody else outside of my home. I also always check my rice too because unfortunately sometimes you can have critters and I throw the whole bag out. Most people wash their rice because that’s just what they were shown so that’s why I do it. Thanks for watching!
You can try but you run the risk of burning your rice. Since you have to start off your rice at a high heat.. olive oil is best for low and medium heat cooking because of its smoking point. If you try it let me know. Thanks for watching 😊
