Thank you for this. I'm contemplating a wax finish on a cabinet, but I've been afraid that I won't be able to do anything else with it if I change my mind years down the road.
That looks great! ❤ Can you advise about removing white wax finish from new pine furniture? Is it by using the products you've mentioned here? I just bought 2 peices and didn't realise you can't just paint over it. It's giving off a constant smell and the current finish just looks dull and kindof see through. I had other people assemble it for me so I didn't realise it wasn't solid white. I didn't understand the description saying waxed white. Yeah I had a lot to learn 😢 Please help..
Hello Shabby.ie. I hope you'll see this question and be able to answer this for me. We've been following your video, step by step, on an old coffee table which was in a miserable state, and so far it's really coming together! We're doing the Danish Oil today. Then we'll be off to find a decent colour of stain. I did look for the stain you used in this video, but heckaroonie(!) it was hard to find and eye poppingly expensive. So I've had to discount that one, and am going in search of another one which will hopefully give me the same result as you got on your drawers. However, you say at the end of the video that you gave the top two coats of antique finish, and two coats of gloss finish. Could you please tell me what 'gloss finish' you used so that I can be in with a hope of getting the same wonderful finish as you got? Many thanks for your help, in advance. And ... thank you for your videos. I know you haven't been posting video's for about the last year, but I SO wish you were back posting here again. You helped me so much with this project, and I made the husband sit down and watch your video before he started on our coffee table, and at the point we're at right now, it's AMAZING.... and that's all down to you and your help. God Bless you! Hope to hear from you soon regarding the 'gloss finish'. Regards ~ Cobs. x
Thankyou. I’ve been scrubbing and rubbing white spirit and methylated spirits for hours now 😱I can’t get the wax stains out from some of my sideboard. I’m going to prime it with Bin shellac do you think it will stick ? Yours look gorgeous. Thanks from a new subscriber 👍🏻🌈

Yes lime wax is the same
How can tell if a wardrobe is waxed or varnished?
Scrape Yr nail over it. The wax will come off

Yes it should. Give it a couple of days before painting over it.
Many thanks!
You're welcome!
what's white spirit?
I think its called denatured alcohol in the USA ?
@@Shabbyie is it denatured alcohol or regular mineral spirits?
@@Shabbyie denatured alcohol is surgical spirits or methylated spirits. White spirit is basically a turpentine substitute.
It's what's known as mineral spirits in North America. It's not denatured alcohol.
Great vid but you really should be wearing gloves.... Those chemicals will go straight into your blood stream through the skin... 👍
please wear gloves when wokring with white spirit 🙈
Antique restorers never use sand paper.... Patina equals history. Patina removed means no longer an antique with a story.
This is not an antique, in fact its practically only fit for firewood, I would suggest the job done is excellent
Don't tell thomas johnson
