Ben was an amazing owner/manager!! I used to go in weekly with my best friend in high school and got offered a serving position. The restaurant was beautiful!! He put an enormous salt water fish tank in the center of the bar that was breathtaking!!
This video was great, I really like the fun facts pop ups too. Looks like the place would have been a great place to eat back in the day. Thanks for posting and sharing this video with us. Take care, Stay Awesome
It used to be called the mandarin house when my grandmother took me there as a kid. The solar light around the roof are still on every night. Due to the area I believe the barbed wire is so people can't get up there
Great news!! They opened Sakura again. Just not at this location, it's about a mile down the road on the right hand side if you are heading towards Warren from Niles.
“Fun” fact: about 10+ years ago when I went to YSU, my friend and I drove past this place (it was still open then) and talked about going there to eat some time. We never did. 😑
The restaurant inside was run down when I ate there in 2010/2011 ish. The food was decent but it looked like they were struggling with renovations. Because it was pretty significantly remodeled between becoming Sakura and it’s previous incarnations as a Chinese buffet and an Asian bistro. (Which I suspect was the same buffet rebadged after the health department shut them down once).
I live 10 minutes from here and have always wanted to get in here!! Ate there one time and food was lousy!! Go a mile up the road to Yamato for awesome hibachi food!!
There's a really good Japanese Steakhouse in Heath Ohio in a strip mall that's near the abandoned Stacey's Homestyle Buffet that has really good Hibachi Udon with Chicken. Kanji is the name of the Japanese Steakhouse, and I can tell that Kayla would love to eat there
I had a scoot around downtown Warren on Streetview - there doesn't seem to be a lot going on. Was there a protracted downturn in the local economy maybe?
Wally I was just thinking that one possible reason that barbed wire might be on the roof could be to deter Scrappers from messing with the 8C units up there because that would be a good bit of aluminum and copper with the condensing coils that's probably why that's up there Seth anybody tried to climb up the wall to get up there to scrap that get of course cut

Barbed wire was probably to protect the units on the building from getting the copper stripped from them. My only guess.
I'm liking the, "fun fact," and it's bell! Kayla is really opening up lately. 😊

Man i dont know how i missed that. Thankyou Wallie for that. My ferrets probably distracted me getting into something 😄
Great job on this and I like when Kayla is in the videos with you.You guys are funny and cute together!
It would be awesome to see the inside

I’ve been there. I like how you hit all the places near my hometown. Also, i believe this was a Wendy’s first.
Lol unfortunately that barbedwire is to prevent scrappers from stealing the AC units
That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.
@@coasterraizen1230 lol I'm from the Cleveland Ohio area this is the Norm!
@@RyGuy0520 Yeah they probably had to put that up there before the restaurant even closed. lol
Nice corpse shirt happy to see that....some awesome places on the Northside of youngstown to check out
When I first saw this, I thought it was originally a Wendy’s that had been remodeled. It looks to have been closed for a while.
I just read some reviews on this place and the last was 2015. Alot of people were saying when they switched owners it went downhill really fast.

Go to the joanns in boardman by southern park mall, they moved it up the street but now the building is just empty
i loved this place!! i was so sad when it closed. always wondered why.
Wallie love your videos
Thank you very much

I believe that place used to be The Flamingo. It was a nice place had a guy playing piano while you ate.
I'm sorry to admit but I wear flip flops exploring. Shame shame. Anyway, that looked very rough. Wow. Great find. Glad to see you guys.
The San Quintin Cherry Blossom 3:58 😂
Hella some weeds right there, Don't believe I've seen those before! Barbed Wire..... Like WalmarT?
Don't know if its related, but there is a sakura steakhouse in Toledo

We Had a Sukera restaurant here Rhode Island out of Bussiness was abandoned for awhile now a restaurant again steady
"This place is huuurrtin!" Love when you say that!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Building looks like a old Ponderosa was originally there.
Wasn’t a Ponderosa, that was down the street about a mile or so. It and a doughnut shop were town down to build a Walgreens.
Awesome bro
Wonder why it closed up? Did yenz (Pgh. slang) ever go to a Japanese restaurannt? I always favored Chinese food. Good vid!🤗
There's an FB page that has pics of the inside of this place, after it was closed.

Warren crashed largely when the steel mills started leaving in the late 1980s.
@@dsly4425 that did for my home town in the 1970s - downhill ever since sadly...
when did this close?
Dang it another closed restaurant.

Im also thinking the roof maybe unsafe to walk on.
Can I have those nice evergreen trees that are in the front?
I wish I could see the inside
This reminds me of a old fast food restaurant maybe Wendy’s or Rax?
May not be seen but I use
To work at this place in it’s good days.
Its possible this place closed when another similar place near by was accused of serving NON Traditional meat on the menu.
Cool 😀
My sister worked there in the late 70s. I think it closed in the early 80s
This restaurant wasn’t even a Sakura’s before the mod 2000’s.
what was it
I have a idea for a new series call it Food Shafting
Shafted on food once again
They got caught serving in unidentified meat by the health dept. I actually ate there years ago, it was really good then. But I had shrimp...
The barbed wire might be to keep birds off the roof?
More probable is to keep people from getting on the roof and stealing copper out of ac units.
I think every single ponderosa was at one time a japanese steakhouse and then shut down too.. lol.
My 2000 crv finally bit the dust at 193k
Hey Clem
At least you got a lot of miles out of it
Looks like an old Burger King
Yeah I don’t understand the barbed wire..
Probably to keep people from getting on the roof and stealing copper out of the ac units.
Lol Wallie she's taking after you on her comment when places are closed.
Dude, why are your subs not way higher. Shame.
I know I said it before, but Ill say it again. Your car is purrty sexyy. I like the thumbnail...majestic.
used to be a rax or wendys
Those weeds are Thistle.
I got the junker car.
I'm learning a lot from her about the Japanese culture.
Talking about getting steaked! ;P
You love editing do you
Black Z24 !
What it a TBSS
You are funny
Wallie the next time you are in Warren need to go to Dave Grohl's alley and eat at Buena vista or speakeasy lounge
Take kayla to an anime convention if she's interested cause she and you would have a great time going to one of those.
