It's a fairly common problem... for 'murican cars. You do get how that happens though, right? The caliper went into a wheel spinning at high speeds and was flung into the gear box. 'murican gear boxes and rear axels are notoriously easy to penetrate. Anything bigger than a pebble and they're shot.
@@ShaggyRogers1 It wasn't a drive wheel, it was the front wheel. The thing is that if you lose a caliper at high speeds the wheel will fling it wherever and since 'murican gearboxes are made with cardboard and a prayer it would literally enter it if flung in that direction, which is exactly what happened.
Honestly? I actually really liked the idea of Hammond's Pirate Tank having the four sets of treads instead of the wheels (and the high ground clearance/steel girders up front), and it was definitely a cool-looking machine. But the way the treads themselves were designed was inherently flawed; with nothing much to stop said treads from slipping, as well as them being made of rubber that just wasn't strong or reliable enough for the job. Refine it by adding some extra protective measures (rubber-padded steel treads instead of just rubber, side armour plates and more reliable idler assemblies/rollers/sprockets to keep the treads on), and I think you'd have something legitimately good!

The only time I’ve ever broken down (knock on wood) my serpentine belt idler pulley came apart, like the plastic just disintegrated, while on my way to work, which meant I had no power steering, wasn’t charging the battery, and most importantly, wasn’t turning the water pump.
