It's Going to be ANOTHER UGLY CORN HARVEST

- Gotta say, that chill in the air definitely means fall is here. Fallen corn is making harvest a bit of a pain. We're really liking the new QuadraTouch on the Sukup grain dryer. I'm excited about the remote control features but we have ran into a few hiccups, and had to spend some time troubleshooting and calibrating to ensure everything was spot on. It's always a learning experience in farming, from setting tracks right to figuring what fields to harvest first. Ended the day with an incredible moon view, reminding me why I love doing what I do. Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Dad's "camera presence' keeps improving with every video. What he has seen, learned and adapted to over his farming career is like for most of us: amazing. And it's clear he has no intention of stopping to learn and to be of great use to the family and the farm. I'm about his age so I can appreciate all of it.
Isaac you're awesome person I like your videos I like your farm I like the whole body f*** your farm work ok my Ian Robertson 🤠
These family videos warm my heart!!! Zach, you and your dad and Onyx working together is truly a blessing. Thank you for sharing it with us all. ❤❤❤
Please keep us updated on Jim's recovery.
He's doing well!! He claims he could drive tractor next week!
@@MillennialFarmernah with that downed corn he'll bog the tractor somewhere😂😂😂
I love to see Grandpa working with the grandson. Hearing the radio chatter between them brings me back to when i worked with mine. He will remember these days his entire life
You dad has to be one of the kindest easy going person.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ggavzb sfv fhjuc😜🤫🤫🤫🤫🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I love to see three generations of your family working together. I have much admiration and respect for all three of you, united as a tight team.
Zach, you know you're the leader when you take the job that is left over! I would love to hear an update on Jim. My prayers continue for a complete, speedy recovery for Jim, also a safe and bountiful harvest for your great American family farm.
Watched this in the Minneapolis airport while waiting for my flight to New Orleans. So close, yet so far away!
Just starting watching you channel, very educational! My partner owns farm machinery shop for 34 years he introduced your show to me and we watch it every night with dinner
Great seeing your family being there for each other, treasure these memories my dear friends
This is one of the best family shows.
Love the banter and interactions between everyone.
It's great seeing you, your dad and Onyx working together. Great video Zach. 🚜🚜🚜
Another great video. Good to see 3 generations working harvest!!
3 Generations farming! That's AWESOME! Watching you 3 farm makes me smile! Great job and THANK YOU for feeding us! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy, warm and happy! 🌽🚜🍁
I feel your pain Zach. Two years ago we had to put a reel on our cornhead and it still was a nightmare. I can still remember how cut up my arms felt after shoving corn stalks into the head all harvest.
*I love watching how modern farms run. This is a great channel - thanks for all you do*
Another busy day. Onyx is an awesome son, you are lucky. Three generations working the land with the same enthusiasm is great.❤️👍🇨🇦
Zac thank you for all your family does and for sharing your lives with us!
Thanks for the ride. I enjoyed it. Have fun at happy hour with Becky.
How is Jim Doing? Hope you guys have a safe and blessed harvest.
Nice to see three generations working together.
I hope you guys have a safe harvest
Hi zack,,, only harvested 25 acres corn this season ( with picker) filled 3 and half corn cribs ( 16 ft round),, grind it later when I’m selling it,, used my trusty farmall 856, 2 row picker, and caged in hay wagon,,, hope your having a good day
Zach and Becky great explanations thank you for sharing and your time was really great never miss a video and can't wait for next video thank you all for your great work.
Nñjn
my family used to be farmers for generations but gave up on it after many hardships. Watching your videos makes me wish my family didn't sell the farm off and be able to help/one day take over the family traditions. also, it's awesome to learn something new every harvest. Thank you for sharing part of your experiences with us and can't wait to see and learn more.
The kid your watching has multiple generation of money that didn't come from the farm...
All the things you see is due to things that happened 40 years ago
Farming is so fascinating. Thank you for what you do... helping to feed America. Good luck with your harvest... Stay safe. And I always appreciate all the dogs and cats.
Three generations working on the farm together, doesn't get any better than that.
You know it!
With a family history of teenage pregnancy...you might get 5 generations...hehe...
Your dad is always cool and calm. Does he ever get mad or upset over farming stuff? Seems like all around genuine guy.
I used to get bad leg cramps at night too then I finally listened to my wife and drank some water!!!! Your dehydration is the most likely reason your muscles are cramping also eat a banana a day helps.
I really like the videos with your dad in them Zac. He’s a really great guy.
Hard working, good natured.
Keep on keeping on Zach! Hopefully harvest goes smoother then expected!! In the last clip as ur driving up to the bins I noticed you NEED a flag at the very tippy top of the bins. Would look awesome!
Watching the calibration and computer setup stuff in depth is always fun. like to seeing how other farmers do it and makes it neat to incorporate into how we setup ours.
glad things are coming along smoothly.
Night time leg clamps or the worst. I keep a can of tonic water on my bedside table. The Quinine in tonic water helps.
Nice seeing you again Onyx. Great video Zach. Nice seeing your dad also. He has raised and good son . Keep up the awesome job Zach
Hey buddy. Feel your pain on the leg cramps, wife has woke up several times wondering if someone was getting unalived. Try some magnesium, helped me alot. Have good harvest boys
Thank you so much for the farming update! I love it. Best to you and your family.
Get Onyx a Sticker Wrap for the grain kart tractor 🚜😊he can swap out with Jim as needed. Get a bump cap with a visor (think Shorty Crash helmet ⛑️ and mount the camera on it. 14:41
That temperature control adjustment on the dryer is a fascinating design choice for new equipment, I'd have expected that to be mounted on a linear actuator and automatically hunt for the proper depth. I'd bet you'd happily pay a couple grand not to have to run up and down the ladder to chase the weather.
As a tall guy with leg cramps in the middle of the nite I recomend cut down on drinking milk and take magnesium suppliments. Good luck with it.
The "Ew" when you saw the Welker Farms logo made me laugh
Zach is just upset that neither Didge nor Anna can ride...wraskelly rabbit radar....in the cab of his combine...then jump off while moving and go chasing antelope, wrabbits, elk like Coby does with Bob!....just sayin
Thankyou for another great vlog if you talk to chet larson he should have bought a Dash spray trailer like you did light years ahead of his home made one
Love watching your channel Zach. It never gets boring, but then again I'm not the one doing it. Stay safe out there.
I hope farmers get a boom year next year. Everyone one I watch seems to have issue last couple of years and it sucks. You are life blood of our food supply and we need everyone running in farming.
Ever think of putting a cleaner on your grain intake to keep those cobs and soy bean pods out of your bins make it easier to empty them without blockages
Love three Generations working together on a family farm, but with lots of modern kit and technology. 😊
And I love the Dogs n Cats. 😊
Season after season this never gets boring, either planting or harvesting..Keep it between the Rows..
Those dreaded leg cramps, I feel for you as I have fought them most of my life and I am used to little sleep and mid day pain do to them !! I wish you luck with fall harvest and the lack of Jim !!
i am not a frequent commenter but i had to take the oportunity to say that i noticed when you told grandpa that your son was home from school and ready to come work i could hear the smile on his face over the radio. That was a proud man. Cheers from tennessee.
Great video Zach I've been helping a farmer north of me he's getting all of his beans out of the fields hopefully we'll start corn tomorrow morning 🤞
The person who makes a success of living is the one who see his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication.
I've gone back and watched almost all the old videos. Keep up the good work.
I worked for a farmer all through high school and then in the fall for several other guys after I was young and first married. I miss those days……..equipment sure is nice today! Thanks again for sharing!
We’ve come a long way huh? I’m probably just a little older than Zach and we had the open cabs. Thank God for our 8370’s we got now😂 don’t see how my Uncle’s and Grandfathers done it😬
The a/c went out on one of our 8370’s about a month ago and it sucked! I’m just glad it was 100° like it was most of the summer but it was still warm😅
The farmer you find to step in for you and do actual work is funny. The resemblance is also amazing. Good find. I hope you pay him well and can retain him.
He makes good use of his stunt double, too, but you can tell that guy isn’t used to farming; I think he was in the John Wick movies though 🤭😉
That down corn is the pits! We have 680 acres that went down because the brace roots did not grow, no rain 6 weeks before tassel.
I had CRW last year real bad in one field and I have always planted SS genetics I went to soybeans this year and did what I could to control volunteer corn. I plan on putting some SSPro on it next year to try to make sure I dont have any escapes
Wow, what a production you’ve got going on. Timing. Hard work
Zack, take magnesium supplement at night. For the leg cramps, and it helps with sleep. It's helped me alot.
Same. I found out my magnesium was quite low, started taking Mag-Ox. Haven't had leg cramps since.
I used to have leg cramps too. They went away when I increased calcium and magnesium and some other minerals, I forget what they were. There is a drink called Calm that has lots of Calcium and Magnesium. I hated the leg cramps.
Hi you two, I wish you and your family and works all the best, for the rest of the corn harvest, Lots of love to your wife how does a great work on the videos. From Ianwood ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I suffered from leg cramps like that. I climb silos similar to your set up and used to wake up in the night. I started taking magnesium supplements every night before bed and so far it's helped a lot. On a side note I think my hair is shines more now too. Lol
Great video nice to see 3 generations working well together x
For the leg cramps try tonic water with quinine in it before bedtime or during the day if you want.
Thanks for another great video Zach and Dad and Alan and Onyx. It takes a team at harvest.
It was interesting.
Nice to see more of your dad and onyx. Busy busy time at harvest.
Great to see the family doing harvest together.
Downed corn is tough like you say. Been there myself. Hard to get out of the field n
Your new trailers seem to be working well. Nice updates on these new trailers.
Wished I understood your dryer system better. If time permits some time give a quick run through of its operation. We never had a system per day. Just a very small unit behind the tractor pto type unit. That was many years ago. 70/80’s.
Like the setup you have. Seems to process corn very well.
All for now I guess. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Zach.
The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Native Minnesotan here. I live about 2 hrs south. Leg cramps suck no matter when they strike. I feel your pain. I used to get leg cramps a lot, then found this info to be very helpful: Too little potassium, calcium or magnesium in the diet can cause leg cramps. (Mayo Clinic) Stay hydrated, do stretches, and massage your legs. Hope it helps!
Thank you for sharing what you can of your harvest operation. Obviously the job comes first. Thank you so much for teaching us in a manner that is simple to understand , a sign of a good teacher. The evolving technology in all aspects of industrial farming is fascinating. Technology advancement with application is incredible to witness. Thanks again for your life with us. J.Au-en
Wonderful. Loved it Zack. Great to see Onyx stepping in to the family like that. Ya done good man!! Be proud!! Nature sure can put the hurts on any thing humans can do. I really enjoy your videos and I learn from each one. Thank you for all the hassle and trouble you go through to get them to us. Special kudos to your fabulous editor who makes it all come together. LOL Great work all.
Very interesting to ride along an harvest which is not so smooth. You mentioned the rootworms, what would your preferred way to fix that issue to have more resilient corn?
Impressive that you are able to film as much as you do in the middle of harvest.
Leg cramps can be treated with a teaspoon or two of yellow mustard. A little hard to swallow, but works every time in 5 minutes or less! Try it. Enjoy your videos!
Need to order some Re-Lyte !!! Helped me out a lot with the leg cramps.. Happy harvesting!
Good times, sad the worms n weather working together!!! As someone that used to get legs cramps a lot, try adding extra iron to your intake, my body seems to use iron like oxygen so would get nose bleeds n charlie horse all the time!!!
Hey Zach this is just a suggestion from someone who doesn’t farm anymore but what if you put some cameras in your bin set up to monitor the spots where a leak/break is likely from your transfer pipes? Watch it on your phone when you wanna check for leaks
Awesome video zach always nice to see things running smoothly
What a NICE set up u guys have! In the field and pulling back into home base. What a sight!!! Gets better and better every year! 👍🏻👌🤙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey Zach, are you guys using your planter monitor and yield monitor for acreage and production reporting for insurance? If not, I recommend it. Pretty slick.
This had the feels of an older, pre Covid video. ❤. Much appreciated.
Corn is bad to do the harvesting. But your dad is doing what he thinks is best. Keep up the good work and then you will be getting done.
Leg cramp, start taking magnesium tablets, and it’ll help keep you “regular” if ya know what I mean. Ask me how I know…
Agree! Plus, drinking LMNT which has salt, Potassium, and magnesium is a great ratio - no more leg cramps. Add the powder to a 23oz container of carbonated mineral water and it's like a soft drink without sugar. Great drink for Millenials.
Zach, use Salonpas deep relieving gel for those LEG CRAMPS..... I keep it with me in my dinner bucket and it takes the zap out of the leg cramp Instantly....
Leg cramps are bad so I feel your pain, and they hurt like hell. Dehydration is the root cause of it, so drink plenty of water through out the day. When I get one I drink a half a glass of pickle juice, and drink water till it hurts. I keep electrolyte on hand, and if I am worried about leg cramps I drink some. I seen the pickle juice thing when a worker got leg cramps on the TV show deadliest catch, and it works. I also flex my leg when I can it seems to help to stop the cramps.
Zack; Drink club soda for your leg cramps, I keep a small bottle on my headboard for night time cramps, immediate relief! great content!
BAck in the 80's we had bad root worm issues here in SO CEN TX.
I saw that FFA t-shirt and that reminded me that I was there at that convention
Enjoy your videos for cramps dill pickle juice a small swig before I go to bed stopped my cramps after getting them stopped just when starts to happen again may last several months before you need to self indulge with pickle juice again does work
Farm manager, logisitcs manager, fuel supply deliverer, moisture tester, parts go getter, your job is the most important to keep things runnig smoothly. The job desription is limitless but can be summarized as doing everything possible to stay ahead of the game. Thanks for the video.
Hey mate, magnesium tablets should help with your cramps. It help me when I had them during the night.
Thank you and be safe
Funny to see Dad in a sweat shirt, fall has arrived! Though you've been wearing one since when, July?? 🤣🤣 Love the harvest videos, sorry you're dealing with down corn again this year!!
Hi Zach and team early video this morning and a happy Sunday morning to all of you
Mate a little tip i suffered the same deal with the leg cramps. Drink tonic water often not alot and it'll stop it ... your welcome
Like a little bottle a day until it goes then one omce every couple days
It’s like Christmas when Joe puts a video out. The only guy I’ll watch ads for lol.
Hey Zac, you need to take Calcium Magnesium +D3 tablets for your cramps in your legs, being a farmer i know, they work great for cramps
Another great video, look forward to the rest of your harvest.
A new Video from the Millennial Farmer improves my Sunday quite a bit.... ☺️😁👏👍
Some days work. Boy, you stay busy. Love the video.
So I'm sick of moving augers all the time, so how much do you want for your whole bin site
Harvest time is my favorite time. Keep the videos coming.
Zac my wife drinks tonic water with Quinine. Works like a charm when she gets leg cramps. Is your potassium level ok?
Down corn sucks. No easy way to pick it up. Can only do the best you can. How jim doing? He be back for this harvest? A family working together is always great to see. 3 generations working together is awesome
3 generations in the field together- pretty awesome
Solid line from your dad about the start of AM sweatshirt weather!
