From everything I've read from people playing this game, this is the best, most realistic hockey game they've made yet. Many say it's better than Madden/Fifa now. It looks awesome. I can't wait to tinker with all the sliders.
But why? I have played all NHL games since 1994 and this could be the first year i skip. It looks exactly like NHL 16, where is the difference?
Subbban in Nashville and Weber in Montreal can't be it.
Because it's not about looks, it's about gameplay. The sliders allow you to get pretty much any type of gameplay you can imagine. Plus the graphics are pretty good to begin with.
So what exactly is different? Slider aren't new
The way they work is. In old hockey games, and football like Madden, sliders didn't have such a big impact. Now they go over the top so you can really nail the type of game play. Plus the actual game play is a little better, they make the cycling more common, and really give people total control over the type of game they want to play. They've added sliders like goalie screen persistence, pass reception reaction time, bouncing puck receptions, how much the boards affect a hit, goalie cross crease coverage speed, and a bunch of others. The sliders in the pass weren't so receptive like they are now.
And the beta in 17 was a lot smoother than 16. Skating was fine tuned, puck control isn't as easy, so guys who are puck hogs and just deke through everyone can't do that so easy now. It should hopefully really improve EASHL, and offline modes as well. The guys who got it early for a 10 hour trial said it plays as one of the best yet. That is, before the patch. Apparently the patch on Friday has kind of made things iffy again. But I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
can you do gameplay with a created team soon?
Can anyone tell me if you can costume the rosters like in NBA 2k series & play a season with the costume rosters you have ?

If they ever put British Ice Hockey teams on here, and my towns team is back in the Elite League, I'd be getting the game on the 1st day. it's out (Been waiting since NHL 2003, for the day they put British teams on it.

Sucks you can only create one team. Why brag about a feature and only allow one team to be created. So nhl 17 basically same game with addition of world cup. In nhl 14 you could create tons of teams. Why do games regress so much.
