What can I use in order to get nickel plates without buying them on Amazon or so are the welding sticks nickel stainless just metal give me an idea of what I might have at home please Jim thank you
I tried this with the nickel welding rods I had and it is not pure enough. The best source I've found for nickel I had laying around was the tabbing strips from old laptop and tool batteries. It's thin so the solution will eat them up pretty quick.
Mistakes are good and a normal process in learning... 😬👍🏻 By the way , make sure not to contaminate your bath with the crocodile clips holding the nickel ; Steel would also ruin your bath ... And in case of stainless steel this may be really toxic , releasing chromium ! Best is to plate the clips do you can immerse the full donor plate 😬 ( get rid of plastic ! )
The electric cables you choose are the worse possible choice. The conductor core is very small and only intended for signal transmission not current. Plus it has shielding, which is great for noise protection but is also a good way to create short circuits if the shield touch a alligator clip.
Hi I have already make after watching your video but the problem after making solution next day it get purple colour ? Why is wrong ? Also after making it won’t come nice green colour !
@@hollanderprojects3948 ah i see thanks, i researched and discovered that it is called electroless plating which is step by step chemical reaction. Thank you.
I did it today. Nickel was delivered today from Amazon. My negative was not consuming itself but the positive. The cathode was covered by a dark layer. The color of the solution was not getting so green but after 6 hours just between green and yellow. I tried to nickel a screw and a small Aluminum pipe. Result: crusty dark grey layer that came away just cleaning the piece. I'm trying to figure out what went wrong
@@hollanderprojects3948 on top of this, as I said, when I prepared the solution, where polarity doesn’t matter, that nice green color, after hours of wirking, never ever reached that beautiful green color. I’m doubting the nickel I bought, even if declared 99.96% “pure”, was really valid.
People that never fail at anything is because they never try to do anything. Thumbs Up!
Thank you Gary
Nice tutorial, easy to follow and I like that you show what happens when it fails.
Thank you Restored
Lot easyer way of do that add nickel and stanus chloride together heat and dip no electric electroless plating
Good and easy set up thanks
Thanks
The best bit was showing what could go wrong.
Yeah, that's why I added it. Thank you
Very nice demonstration, Thanks for sharing, bro..👏
Thanks man

Can we do same by using copper plates?
Nice work bro, whell done!
Thank you

Many thanks. Is the process the same for Nickel plating 6061 Aluminium?

Also works for copper plating, Copper object on the hot wire (positive)... object you want to plate on the cold (Negative)
.
Do this contain silicon?? I'm planning to replate my worn out cylinder block for my engine
No silicon
@@hollanderprojects3948 do you any idea how can I add silicon carbide? Do i have to mix it with the solution?
Sorry, no experience with that. A quick search tells me it is usually applied through a chemical reaction rather than electric plating

Add 2ml polyurethane to mix will come out bright set volts to 5v 2 amp
What type of polyurethane?
I see some people on youtube having a shiny nickel plated piece? Your part is also dull like mines . What are we doing wrong?
Probably has something to do with the finished surface before plating

Probably the same mistake as I made?
@@hollanderprojects3948 which one?
Swapping the + and - by using the trafo wrong
@@hollanderprojects3948 I didnt swap anything. I use a lab power supply. And even there, I checked with a multimeter.

Me: Mom can we have nickel plating?
Mom: We have nickel plating at home
Nickel plating at home: 🧂
Very helpful, but I still am having some problems, my green solution turns red after a few days of sitting.
Red means rust, are you trying to electroplate steel?
Top video 👍🏼 allemaal eigenlijk wel
you can dummy plate contaminants out using a sacrificial anode.
Thanks Marcus, didn't know that.
You should wrap the coin in a copper wire cage to keep the alligator clips out
What does it mean when the part comes out black and green.
Depends on the part. You used copper? Copperoxidation is green.
@@hollanderprojects3948 yeah I was plating copper
Retry: clean and degrease the part properly, + at the nickel, - at the part.
Good video
Thanks
Add 3 drops of polyurethane glycol to bright nickel plating
Thanks, no need for polishing after?

Just been messing with electroless plating chrome
@@hollanderprojects3948 no and copper is the same or you can make acid copper
👍👍👍
One confusion - people holding rusty part to negative side to remove rust by same process. Here we also holding coin to negative side to get plated...
to much bubbles at the coin - the H2 has a negative effect...solution needs more nickel...eventually reduce the current
What is your recommended max current?
And use less volts slow plating
For plating how much volt and amp we must use?
5v 2.1amp
Thank u
Good iPhone charger works
the coin is not clean...the brownish layer has to be disappeared...
LOL the alligator is slowly eaten off and contaminates the solution...dont do that

por que tapas la marca del vinagre blanco.... como saber que comprae ahora, tu video pierde sentido asi
La marca no es importante, la acidez es importante, 8% funciona bien
@@hollanderprojects3948 GRACIAS POR EL CONSEJO.....
Quite doing videos. If you can't explain what's. Going on!
