Here are the measurements for the main parts of the lectern. they may vary slightly from mine. all these pieces listed are made from 3/4" plywood. All measurements are in inches.
Carcass front - 33x20
carcass sides 1 and 2 - 33x11 1/4
carcass shelves 1,2,and3 - 11 1/4x18 1/2
carcass base 25x20
top sides 1 and 2 - 9x20 these need an angle cut by measuring 4" up on one side and on the opposite perpendicular side measuring over 4" and cutting out the resulting triangle
top front 9x25
top bottom 25x16 9/16
top back - 1 15/16x25
top top front - 25x3 this one need a bevel cut on the long side
top lid - 25x16 7/16 this one also needs a bevel cut on one long side
the trim pieces and frames are made from 1x4s
My son needed an Eagle Scout project and asked the local volunteer Fire Department what they would like. They requested a podium for use in their training room, so we started looking at various options. This video was perfect, so we went with it. Used 3/4 inch maple veneer plywood for the carcass and some donated South African mahogany for the trim. Your instructions were perfect, as were the results. Thank you for the great video! I'd love to show you the results.
Forgot to say that we decided to add an outlet under the lid and a1 1/2 inch grommet on the back top for access. Included an extension cord, and now they have an easy and clean way to set up a laptop. Thanks again for the inspiration!
That’s is great! I’m glad you are happy with it. I would love to see the results. My email is knowledgeiskings@gmail.com
My son also used this video for his Eagle scout project. Just wanted to thank you for putting this out there.
Wow.... Very good work man. Thanks 4 sharing..

This is your English teacher commenting. You got this right ! This desk is NOT a "podium" A podium is a 12" high 4'X4' wooden box upon which an orchestra conductor stands to conduct. "Pod" means "of the foot". A "Lectern" is a small waist-high desk, from which a person delivers a speech or a lecture, hence the name "Lectern". America gets this wrong all the time, because the ignorant, uneducated news casters have been calling "lecterns" "podiums" for years. Shame on those newscasters !!!! -'Great looking lectern !!
practical and perty....thanks!
just curious if you gave thought to making the top so that a large book can be opened and left at an angle so as not to stress the binding. Really like this idea! Well done!
I didn’t think about that. This was for a church who’s biggest book was a normal sized bible. The way I came up with the angle was just setting a book on a plywood piece and changing the angle till I thought it was comfortable.
Awesome project! Thanks for sharing.
look really nice I like it alot
Excelente trabalho. Parabéns!
I would love to have the plans I can’t see the description for some reason!😮
Thanks a lot...Im busy making one😁😁😁
Hey, for the top back, is it 1 and 15/16 of a foot or 1 and 15/16 of an inch?
Good works
Can I get the blue print you have on your plywood or a good picture of the plywood with the pattern and labels before the cuts? I have your measurements.
What if the speaker is taller than the pulpit? It will give him a hard time. Speaking from experience. Pulpits should be height adjustable.
wow very good thank you !!!
Do you have any video or photos of the product finished with the poly?
I'm a Pastor of a Christian church and currently have a simple pulpit now buy i sure like this one.
I'm not to handy but Can you send me the diagram and instructions for building this one.
So, you were able to cut all the pieces from a single 8'x4' sheet of plywood (other than the trim pieces, of course)? You don't happen to have a cut list showing the layout, by chance, do you? Thanks
Bill Camara I do not have a cut list for it. This was a build for a customer so I don’t have it any more either and I never took any pictures or video of it other than what’s here. But yeah it was all out of one piece of plywood as far as I can remember. The plywood was 4x8x3/4 presanded
@@knowledgeiskings just curious, how much did you charge for this? I know it’s been a long time, but if you remember…
