Very helpful! Mine wasn't stolen and it actually works fine. My issue is that the rear mount of the midpipe is broke from the muffler and just cannot be repaired. The mount on the catalytic converter side is so rusted away that almost only the holes for the bolts are still intact. I bet as soon as I loosen those up, the mount on the cat will just break apart. It is probably cheaper to get a new cat and midpipe that to take to a repair shop and do custom work.
Any info on how to get a broken rusted bolt out of the bottom of the manifold would be appreciated. I have a CRV 2005 and my cat was stolen recently. It's 2 bolts from the cat to the manifold and one of the bolt heads broke off. The setup is much similar to the crv in the video. Any info is much appreciated!
Hmm... thats a tough one. Sometimes what happens in snow climate areas that use road salt the nuts and bolts that are the same metal will rust and fuse together, i call it rust welded. heated metal parts such as exhaust systems seem to be worst off (possibly accelerated by the heat in combination with a corrosive substance). so if they are to the point that they look like one rust fused part then you will need to cut and replace the bolts/studs. now removing broken bolts off a manifold... if the bold/stud end holding the nut is what broke off you should be able to hammer the other end out as they tend to be pressed in place and should be removable. but as i said with rust fusing the head at the other end might be rust fused to the manifold itself making it difficult. might have to grind down the head at the other end and pop out the remaining stud. Its a huge headache when dealing with rusted nuts and bolts. Not a whole lot else I can say. somebody thats good with a welding torch might be able to get it out with less effort.
Me too. Take the cat but at least leave the resonator and sensors alone lol. Expensive job when youre replacing 4 parts so they can scrap 1. Ive never done exhaust work myself, thanks for the info.
My camera kept having battery problems during the video so there are chucks missing because I didn't realize it wasn't recording. so, the second half never made it to a viewable video. the only part i had difficulties with was lining up the resonator pipe to the muffler. but everything else is straight forward. i connected it at the cat first before the muffler. I would try bolting on the muffler end first then the cat. I had a hell of a time getting the muffler and pipe to line up so i can bolt it together. I would also loosely install the bolts in case you have to take them back off due to alignment issues so that the gaskets are not already crushed into place
@@jmoyet do you mind taking a picture of what you just described to see the final result from cat to the rear pipe, mine was cut the same way as yours.
No issues at all. It is a magnaflow brand catalytic converter. They don't mess around with their stuff. it's a legit brand. The NTK oxygen sensors are NGK's sensor line of products.
That sucks. If you want to do the repair yourself I told my insurance that I wanted the exhaust to be back to how it was factory which is bolt on and not welded on sections. (I've had bad experience with exhaust shops doing shifty jobs before.) But yeah that's something that should be covered under insurance.
@@gabecruz1045 I'm no expert with how insurance rates go and I also think that depends on your insurance company. But I prefer not to pay for it out of pocket when thats what I pay my insurance for.
This cat install applies to 2007-2009 Honda CR-V. The 2010-2011 models have a different setup due to the 2010 facelift/update redesign.
I almost forgot about you man its been years keep up the vids 👍
Yeah I've been off youtube for a while. Getting back into the groove of things here on youtube

Finally a new video! Can you do a voice over on your experience towing?
I'll have to figure out how to make it into a video. Since I only have a few pics and no video

Are the sensors denso?
They are NTK (NGK'S sensor line)
Mine got stolen friday also a 2009 crv, are you gointo to show how to do the rest of the pipe towwards the rear exhaust please?

Where did you get the hardware?
RockAuto
Where did you purchase the catalytic converter
Oreilly auto parts. I would have preferred to get it from rock auto for about half the price but they were out of stock.
@@jmoyet thanks, My catalytic converter was also stolen. Just placed the order now to find a shop to install it.
I have a 2011 CR-V and my converter is quite different from yours. In fact I have two of them.
I know there was a "face lift" redesign on the 2010 models but I don't know how deep that redesign on the 2010 - 2011 models went.
@@jmoyet Yes...after checking the service manual....2007-2009 have the converter like yours and 2010-11 have a 2 piece 3-way catalyst.
