    One fun thing about Fatalis from Monster Hunter. "Fatalis" isn't exactly the name of the monster. A Fatalis is a event that causes mass destruction and loss of life. The only reason the dragon is referred to by that name, it is the only known instance of a Fatalis event taking place...

    It's also worth noting that with Artorias, that his crippled arm was his *weapon arm* which means he is fighting you with his *weaker* arm and without his great-shield. In other words, you never even get to fight Artorias at his absolute best, you only fight him in a *weakened* state and when he has become so corrupted by the Abyss that he's little more than a rabid beast that has very little to no capacity for higher thought processes, and even then you can only barely eke out a win against him.

    • @wr5488
      @wr5488 3 роки тому +3

      But he's also powered up from the dark to be even stronger. Everything gets stronger from dark, from slaves to dragons, thats a running theme in the series (Friede, Kings, Nash, Gael, Midir, Manus, etc etc.). Its not like going hollow, he got a shitload of power that drove him insane. Yes hes using his off hand, fighting mindlessly and doesnt have his shield, but hes even more powerful, buffs himself with dark and fights completely berserk.
      He went from a skilled knight to a deadly monster. Now, if he had his shield, his arm, his sanity AND got the dark buff then I think we'd for sure be seeing him at his top potential.

    Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City is not only my favorite dlc boss, but one of my favorite bosses of all time.
    As a fan of the dark souls series, there’s so much to like here. He uses a broken greatsword that’s reminiscent of the broken sword that’s been a staple of the Souls series. He can teleport by using a white soap stone that’s used for co-op. He can call lightning from the sky that’s blue, not yellow, signifying it has nothing to do with Gwyn’s miracles. His cape is lined with the souls of those he’s devoured.
    His story is that he’s looking for a pigment to give to his lady to paint a new world. The pigment just so happens to be the blood of the dark soul of man. So what does Gael do? He goes to the dreg heap at the end of the world and he eats everyone. Ok, he eats the furtive pigmies, rather, so that he can find the dark soul. When you find him, he’s gone completely mad, obsessed with eating everything in his path, including you.
    It’s a climactic fight between two of the lowest souls who have become more powerful than gods and kings. If you have no interest in playing the game, I highly recommend you watch a video of the fight. The music is also some of the best video game music I’ve ever heard.

    Here's a little tidbit about Fatalis and its ultimate attack: that massive tidal wave of hellfire is called "Schrade's Demise". This is the apocalyptic inferno that wiped out an entire kingdom. It's so hot, so savage and powerful, that any metal you try to hide behind will be melted into slag in mere seconds. If a metal barricade can't withstand it, what makes you think you'll fare any better?
    *ADDENDUM (12/24/22):* I've just been informed that the real name of the attack is "Ruinous Pyroclasm". It still sounds intimidating, but I still kinda prefer "Schrade's Demise", to be honest.

    • @Doomguyhunter1
      @Doomguyhunter1 Рік тому +1

      It's official name is "ruinous pyroclasm" and shrades demise is just a fan name. And about the strenght of the attack, it's so hot that it actually would probably melt everything in multiple hundreds of meters radius. It's heat should be at least 15 000° celcius. Aka 28 000° fahrenheit. What's also even weirder and more impressive to me, is that the "fire" isn't even fire. Fatalis is weak to fire, so he would die if it was normal fire. Also it looks like basic fire, and not the super hot blue fire. So basically fatalis fires an inferno capable of destrying everything and anything in a massive radius, and the nova is some sort of fire-like element, which is also the most intense and powerful element in the mh universe only being rivaled by safi dragon energy. I hope you enjoyed my long ass comment. (Assuming you've read it completely🙂)

    There's a few parallels in the DLC from Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Both Artorias and Maria are guarding their world's darkest secret. Artorias failed to stop Manus, while Maria was one of the Hunters that killed Kos. Getting past each of them allows the player to explore the source of the world's main problem as the final area. Maybe Orphan doesn't have quite the same buildup itself, but the symbolism of the journey gets more impactful the more I think about it.

Destroy its barrier with battalions, stay outside of its range so it can't attack you during the enemy phase, charge its special attack, teleport and restore its barrier; way for it to summon its puppets and drain them of all their hp but 1, leave them alone and the boss can't regenerate its health anymore, attack it from afar with ONLY the units you KNOW can get out of its range afterwards (so it doesn't attack during the enemy and start all that jazz), either by themselves or using other arts. Ummm yes we can say. Grimm is a being/bug who literally is a vessel for a higher being called the Nightmare Heart. Which you see in the background Nightmare King Grimm fight. What you are doing if you chose to finish the ritual is. Transferring the Nightmare Heart from Nightmare King Grimm to the Grimm Child. We can see this via the Grimm Childs eyes turning red after the defeating Nightmare King Grimm and the White lady (aka your mom) explicitly telling you so.
    "Success then for the scarlet heart, and irony, to use my spawn to grow its own." So in short Grimm is not the god the Nightmare Heart is, the Nightmare Heart is the real power source that makes Grimm "work" and you have to beat Grimm at his strongest to "Burn the father, feed the child... and Burn away the Nightmare King...to dance and die and live forever" and Nightmare king Grimm using the power of the nightmare heart as one last test/part of the ritual. We can tell this by Nightmare King Grimm's dream nail dialogue in god home which reads "Deepest power... the Heart..." and the over all tone and gist of the poem that the Grimm troupe wrote about themselves which I quoted some parts of earlier.

    after that yasha pulls out his own core to jumpstart asura and then fights him for three reasons. one to make sure asura is prepared for the fight ahead, to make sure the reactor is working as intended, and finally to make peace with himself and asura by settling old scores the only way they knew how.

    I do think one thing that was missed out on is the absolute insanity of AC7's DLC. Especially since this was their first foray into full mission DLC for the Ace Combat series.
    So, Matias Torres, the captain of the Super Scinfaxi classs Submersible Aircraft Carrier Alicorn. He's certainly a character. The first thing we hear from him is in the first of the three missions "Unexpected Visitor, where we hear his voice alongside a black screen saying "It's a requiem" and then later one, he talks about how gunnery is about killing the people on the boat, not about destroying the boat. Finally, he asks the question "Is it the plan to save ten million lives, or to kill one million people?"
    So, tone for our character set, right? Not quite. The second mission "Ancorhead Raid" has you raiding the nominal port Things seem normal, until small drones come by. then boom, explosions go of in the air, damaging one of your wingmen while Torres laughs like a maniac, chanting out insane ramblings. "the death of a million is a necessity!" "Picture it!" and "Salvation!" to name a few. From this we learn his plan. Then we learn his plan: To use the Alicorn's 2000km range railgun to drop nuclear shells on the Osean capital of Oured, killing as many people as possible to during anti-war protests, in order to terrify Osea into ending the Lighthouse War early. Or so he says.
    So now, we're to the final mission, "Ten Million Relief Plan" and it is nuts. The first part has you defending patrol aircraft as they drop sono-buoys to essentially throw a wide net to catch the Alicorn. After a moment where we see just how clever and forward thinking Torres is in using jamming buoys loaded with depth charges to create a lot of noise in the water, the sub is finally caught. but it's not over.
    It becomes a mad fight to destroy the Alicorn's ballast tanks to prevent it from diving, while dodging fire from its two smaller railguns, VLS launchers, CWIS and SAMs, all the while it dives, releasing UAV's and it's own elite SACS squadron of Rafael fighters. The more it dives, the more it throws at you, including EM drones to deploy barriers to block your attacks and even a jammer to make locking onto it much more difficult, but once you pound it enough...
    Torres surrenders. And your squadron is thrown into chaos. Count and Huxian want to just sink the boat, while Jaeger and Long caster are warning about international law. But the truth becomes clear. Torres recounts a story about how he hit a target 30km away in a rough storm during his time as a gunnery officer. All the while, the flight deck of the Alicorn rises and it opens up. It's clear now. He had no intention of surrendering and you now have to race to at least knock the barrel off target to stop the shot from hitting Oured.
    And once you do, hell breaks loose. The Alicorn almost becomes possessed as whatever you didn't destroy starts firing like mad, all the while you're strafing the base of the railgun, the Alicorn's core. Torres has revealed his true self. A psychopath who wishes to be remembered for killing one million people with an impossible shot. Laughing maniacally, he screams about what he is doing is true beauty and art. Until finally you do it. The Railgun is down, and the Alicorn is sparking and exploding. Until you get one final message from Torres:
    "Don't you see?! One million! ONE MILLION LIVES!"
    There is no remorse, no despair, no anger, only obsession over his goal, as he laughs one final time as the Alicorn rips in two from one final explosion and sinks to the bottom of the ocean, with Matias Torres and the crew sent to the sea.
    Oh and Also Torres might be one of my favorite villains because of how chilling realistic he is. That's all I have to say, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
    TL;DR, I'm sad the Alicorn from Ace Combat 7 wasn't mentioned even as an honorable.

    Honerable Mention:
    Matias Torres, Ace Combat 7 DLC Special Missions.
    AC7 was more about navigating a political mess, with misguided insurgents trying to incite another World War in an empty attempt at revenge, with a hint of evolving Artificial Intelligence. And even your rival, Mihaly, was more of an old man suffering end-life crisis, trying to re-live his glory days as an ace. Your rivalry isn't personal to him, he just wants to save his kingdom.
    Matias Torres, on the other hand, is an insane egomaniac bent on killing 1 million people in the belief it will "save" 10 million people, and has the suicidal fanaticism of his crew to back him!
    And instead of fighting a plane, you're fighting a submersible aircraft-carrier, with in-built railguns and UCAVs to wreak havok on you.
    And just before you deal the final blow, he declares "surrender" to buy enough time to launch a nuclear shell at a city! When you're finally able to destabilize his sub to the point of exploding, his Villainous Breakdown is insane to hear, as even till death, he's convinced he's a hero!
    Scream and Rage also get an honerable mention IN this honerable mention, simply for having unique dialogue and music depending which you shoot down first!

    Silver Face, however, rarely ever flinches from hits and primarily uses melee attacks, forcing you to switch strategies to hitting him when he's open from one of his attacks and running away when he retaliates, making him more like a traditional No More Heroes boss than the others.

    Another Honorable Mention.
    Dante, from DMC5. The Vergil DLC mostly spotlighted Vergil, since he'd be the Playable Character that everyone wanted (to the point that, after the main game released, PC players modded the boss itself to be playable.) Vergil's playthrough of the game is quite standard fare, though. It's just a re-tread through all 21 missions in the game (minus variations). However, when you reach Mission 19 and 20, where you'd normally be fighting Vergil as the final boss, you instead get Dante.
    Dante normally is scary as hell to fight, especially when he style switches to Royal Guard and slow walks toward you, but becomes absolutely horrifying when you fight him on higher Difficulties like DMD mode, where he starts pulling out tricks even players would probably use against Vergil on a normal run. But that isn't the best part.
    When playing the game as Dante and co. you can taunt Vergil, and he'll respond with something somewhat basic. Taunt Dante as Vergil, however, and he'll respond a fair bit more uniquely (and hilariously). This was the DMC4 Dante boss fight turned up to 11, with all of the stops pulled out just for all the Vergil fans out there.

    • @zeroattentiongaming820
      @zeroattentiongaming820 Рік тому

      I'd strongly argue Dante was harder in DMC 4 simply because of how Royal Guard was handled. Just like the player, he can switch to it on the fly with no warning and take over half your health instantly with a Royal Release because he can read your inputs and perfect counter them whenever he wants.
      In 5 he only uses Royal Revenge, which is far weaker than Release, can be dodged even at point blank and unlike in 4 he doesn't just randomly switch to RG with no warning, he has clear patterns in 5 and you can predict when he will use RG. In 4 he was just pure chaos incarnate.
