I once picked up a brick finding a megacolony of pheidole megacephala into a basket with barrier, and I got 60 queens at once and a ton of brood, I still have them and I'm not really sure how many queens they have, over a week they doubled in size, this species has attacked my own colonies before too, 5000+ workers, take up 25ml of water/week

The biggest colony I’ve ever had is an acorn ant colony with 4 queens, almost 10 ergatoid queens, 75 workers and 25 ergatoid males.

Saw about 2 queens you missed. Might have to go back in a few days and do it all over again xD. might take a while to get them all from the shed.
Also I saw some male alates in the new colony you collected. They might make the queens soon.

I actually was in the shed for nearly 2 hours collecting them all! I didn’t want to miss a single ant if I could help it 😊

@@TheAntKeeper haha yea. trying to collect every single one is a job and a half. If you leave them to regroup for a day, you can see if you missed any 😁

capture the alates and hope they pair . then put them in test-tube setups and keep them there until they got 50-60 workers then free them ( to give them a better chance at starting their colony )
