Dude, I just used this repair for my 2010 Rav. Worked like a charm. Also, was lucky enough that my awesome neighbour Keith had a set of torx. Big-time thanks. The loose as hell mirror has driven me crazy for years. Cheers. Pat from Canada
Instead of a business card, I used a flat ceiling fan balancing weight cut to size and it worked like magic. Silly to think how many years I've been dealing with a loose rearview mirror when the fix was this easy. Thank you for posting this video.
Have the same problem with my 2015 Avalon. Great tip and nice to know I'm not crazy and not just my car. I wonder if addition to the shim you mentioned we could also use a threadlocker on the screw. I just learned about threadlockers and using on my bike parts. thanks for posting this.
Thanks for the idea. Had a rear view mirror that would always droop on my 2010 Prius. Instead of card stock, I used small piece of Gorilla tape folded and adhered over in the screw indentation. So far, the mirror is stiff as a board. That's what she said. D'oh!
Yup. I didn’t have to use a shim (yet). Just tightened up the screw. I had looked up there before and for some reason didn’t see the screw and figured I’d just have to live with a loose mirror. Thanks for the great tip and instructions!
My Prius C had the same problem too and it is contributed to the loosed ball joint...very frustrating. Ended up having to glue additional base plates to the windshield and fix it in place. As a result, it is entirely vibration free even on the most torturous road here in Vancouver BC Canada.

Why does your video say Toyota when you're working on a Prius?
Because many toyotas share this rear mirror design, it happens to be the same for my 2012 crown
@@Edward.1688 ohhh. Ok. I thought you were click baiting me. Lol. Thank you.
Plus a Prius is a Toyota.
