“The instructions say just to put a drop on” me who just tried to put it on with the whole entire packet of glue and wondered why it was sliding so much👁👄👁
Prying that isn’t the best way to get it off. Use the narrow screwdriver to press the tension spring clip, and the button will slide out. Prying will probably damage the mirror base and contribute to future failure.
Major shout-out to Major diameter I thought I was going to have to live without a center mirror forever so you showed me how to remove the button off the back much appreciated dude
If you have access to a blowtorch or some sort of fire that's high-strength then you can easily remove the adhesive from the back of the rearview mirror plate. It will take you less than 15 seconds to melt and burn off all of the residual adhesive.
Once you put the adhesion promoter on, you HAVE to wait at least a minute for it to cure before you put the glue on. I didn't count and just put the glue on. The button did stay on for the allotted 30 minutes, but once I tried to put the mirror back on it slipped and left a hole on the inside of my windshield. Also I noticed that the glue unused in the packet dries out very fast, so I was unable to do it right the second time.
I have used this Kit twice in three months, both times it fails my windshield gets to be 140°, somebody said alcohol was not the best use they said you something else I can't remember what they said it might have been acetone. I have never had them come off after that. They usually would last three or four years. Wish I could get some of the manufacturer glue they use on new cars
I've done this twice one my 78 f150 and gave up. Looks like the previous owner tried scoring the windshield to help it stick but I don't think that's how it works
Thanks for info. However, we used Good cleaning, good Glu from Auto Part store. Even had a guy from store walk us through steps. Tab stayed on all night, hung mirror next day and As Soon as we tried to adjust mirror it popped off again. I guess we'll use side mirrors.
Good video. It was 4 months since I removed the mirror to make way for a rear video camera. Then I forgot how to re-install it until I saw your video, THANKS.
I’m sorry bro unfortunately it did the same to me after I made this video. I no longer have this car. Maybe heat the adhesive pad up and use a supporting mechanism (like tape or string or even a long 2 by 4 to wedge between the mirror extending down to your seat) to keep it in place until it fully cures??? Maybe a week or two. Just a suggestion
Nice video. I have done this before using Pro Seal 61067 Mirror Adhesive and now I need to do it on another car. Basically, the same steps as your video except for the Pro Seal has a little glass vile you snap to allow the liquid adhesive to flow to an applicator to then apply to the windshield. Well done.
I'd so rather deal with this than when I've had vehicles where the headliner comes undone. Personally I never got the liners to ever be the same. I got extraordinarily creative time after time. Sorry, lol, reading your comment brought back the horror from those days!
@@-salena-7284 I can imagine. In my volvo, it bolted to part of the roof structure, under the plastic panel where the sunroof and front interior lighting switches are. This was a P80 volvo, which includes the volvo 850, volvo s70, v70, c70, v70xc, and the ECC comcept car.
Easy, just wait a few days or up to 2 weeks. Ive tried twice with Permatex and my rear vision mirror /camera has fallen off both times. Moving on to something that will work...
Why is no one talking about how hard it is to remove metal bittom
No shit bro..iam still at it 3 days later
Okay thank you cause I have been working on it for like 15 minutes
Make sure yours isn't the kind that uses a hex key to unscrew it from the bottom, mine was.
Facts. I’m trying now
It's not hard when you use a soldering iron with a blade tip. Comes off like butter. A lil alcohol to take off the rest of the residue.

I used the bottle because the tab kept falling off. I tapped the bottom on the windshiel

You can also put a small piece of tape on the outside where the button goes. That is easy to remove than a crayon circle. Thanks for the video!
Before you try to pry off your button, MAKE SURE to look and see if there's a torx screw (t20) holding the button.

The difference between watching this being done and trying to decipher the tiny print on the package is night and day. Thank you! Also, good kitty.
Can you use review mirror glue when cold outside
Would E6000 glue work?
Thanks, very good teaching.!!!

You and your cat make a great duo.
I will make this attempt later today and will be back if I need more assistance.
Thank you..
My rear view just fell off right now I need to fix it I am trying to bring to the car shop but I guess I just had to buy what you show.

Try heating the metal bracket for a few mins then it should slide off
Good video. It was 4 months since I removed the mirror to make way for a rear video camera. Then I forgot how to re-install it until I saw your video, THANKS.

Jb weld
Thanks for this!!
What if the patch of glue is stuck to the windshield? How do I get it off?
Use RUBBING ALCOHOL ,, ADHESIVE REMOVER, TRY GOO GONE..
If you really have to ask such a question the answer should be that you should hire someone to do it for you.
But the answer: razor blade. 😮
What should i do if I accidentally put the button to far to the right
It ain't coming off so you will have to install another button. When they said "permanent" they meant it.
Heat it up with a lighter and it's coming off

Good teacher!
Thanks, great instructions
Most European cars mount the rearview to the headliner/roof, in order to eliminate this problem.
I'd so rather deal with this than when I've had vehicles where the headliner comes undone.

Really? That's great, but not at all helpful if your mirror is attached to the glass.
How do I get it off ?
The sliver piece from the glass if set up wrong
Heat it up with a lighter
