haha, John Mayer WISHES he sounds like Eddie.
Everyone does.
Right?..lol
Probably, but John can make that guitar sing too.
John mayer has nothing on eddie!
@@sasquatchwithinternetacces2940 he has his guitar tho
Nobody even remotely sounded like Eddie Vedder until he came along. Then all of a sudden everybody tried to emulate him. But noone ever came close. He sounds different today, having developed the third installment of his voice after 30 years (second was around the year 2000). And like the first two installments it sends a shiver down your spine.
The Creed dude tried!!!! 😉
@@lisarhae9692, lol, yeah. emphasis on "tried".
Yeah nailed it. I’d even argue that his early baritone that is often mocked wasn’t as prevalent as it seems. Especially on VS and Vitalogy, he screams a lot in his delivery. A very underrated scream as well. If I had to guess, i think he blew out his voice while touring those first few albums, which caused the shift you first hear on no code.
Ummmm, Robert Plant. Eddie is one of my favorites, but c'mon, he emulates Robert.
@@SnoBear626, I fancy exclusive opinion. And you've got one here.
I feel like Eddie is crying through the end of this performance without actually shedding tears, but letting it be expressed through his voice.
John Mayer on his best day couldn’t touch Eddie. The emotion he can convey is amazing. Grunge rock was pigeon holed, but the talent is insane.
John Mayer is talent but really. He could not touch the bigger grunge bands at all. Layne? Eddie? Chris? That is not even a comparison worth making.
To be fair he's a guitar player not really a singer
Hahaha yeah, when she mentioned Mayer I was like "huh?!!" 🤨
The only similarities in range could be other grunge artists
Bullshit, I’m a metal fan through and though, and pretty much obsessed with Layne, but John is every bit the singer/performer. Eddie, Layne, and Chris are. Check him out singing “gravity” live
Why you gotta bring someone else down? They were both good at different things
All you need to do to better understand Eddie’s singing voice, is listen to his speaking voice. He has a very deep baritone voice. This was recorded very early in Pearl Jam’s career, and his voice has only gotten deeper. He ages like fine wine. Not better or worse though, just different. He also smokes, which, of course, adds to the gravelly quality, and has affected his ability to reach some of those high notes now. But he’s still going strong, thirty years later. I just love him.
Like the fine wine he's bringing with him at concerts hehe
He actually quit smoking some years ago
@@larastiegler7126 I think you’re wrong about that. He stopped smoking pot years ago when his kids were born, but he hasn’t been able to stop smoking cigarettes. But, I’d love to hear he actually quit, both for his health, and his voice!
@@maggieshevelew7579 I saw an interview in 2020 (can't remember exactly when) and there he said that he just quit smoking some time ago , he talked about how he felt the difference and that he was surprised how much positive effect it had. But then maybe I got it wrong (Englisch is not my first language). I try to find the interview and will re-watch it.
@@larastiegler7126 Yeah, I remember that. I think he started smoking again. But, I really hope you’re right.
Skip to 12:25 when the reaction kinda starts (Pearl Jam bio) or skip to 15:05 when the actual music video begins.
Thank you, Greg W
Eddie doesn't sing mechanical. He sings with heart felt emotion. His voice is an extension of that emotion. You can hear and feel the passion in his voice. His technique can't be learned because it is all his own and that's what makes his voice so unique.
wow, way to kill a vibe with that John Meyer shit.
For sure. Trained singers can match his lows or highs or vibratos, but they can't match it all. He's what people want to hear. That special voice that's 1 in 100 million
The secret to the rocks in his throat was to have a massive head cold the night of the performance and to push through it with the support of his band and friends in the audience.
If you don’t get goosebumps from this performance you don’t have a pulse
Eddie didn't have bronchitis during this.... he was battling the flu however.... I love the sound of his voice.... being a southern boy, im a blues lover.... and he definitely has a blues sound... the pain, the sorrow is shining through in his voice
you should see the charismatic voice reaction to this song. she must have mentioned love about a million times
For someone like me who had a baritone clean voice struggling through the 80's with so many guys singing in tenor range bordering on mezzo alto it was like the clouds parted when Pearl Jam came out.
A man on the top of the charts singing in his natural range and emoting openly with a vocal style that bordered between raging and weeping.
It was liberating and beautiful.
An entire generation of vocalists were suddenly allowed to sing in their own voice.
Thank you Pearl Jam.
reads all the lyrics beforehand, oh I wish I waited
This song, from what I’ve read is about him and his old girlfriend, Beth. It’s about a lost pregnancy.
“ I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be the star, in somebody else’s sky.”
At the end he ad-libs “ we belong together “
It's about Eddie's girlfriend in highschool when he was 15 years old and yes it's about a pregnancy and they had to break up. That's why Eddie is torned up singing this beautiful but heartbreaking song. 😊💓🤘✌️
I feel like some thing's should not be dissected. This performance is a masterpiece
I agree 100%
That is his god giffted voice!!!!!! WOW!
He had a bad cold on this particular night and it's one of their most popular live videos
reaction starts at 15:10
Thanks 😊
Can you just stop and feel the pain and hurt he's singing with and really feel the blackness he's feeling in this masterpiece he is giving you....wow
She can't... her heart is covered with extreme narcissism!
That "rrrr" sound was adopted by the grunge scene in general back in the 90's. Eddie is considered the one responsible for creating it, along with it's copying somewhat by rock in general from that point on.
the infamous "yarling" style
Even Flow is with all of us 80s babies and after!!
'Hunger Strike' by Temple of the Dog, to witness both Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell on form.
Vader in the 90's got more tail than a groomer in a dog show. He was damn good looking
You promised more Pearl Jam at 2000 likes. I am still waiting ;)
These unplugged shows were badass 🤘 glad I got see them when they premiered on MTV many moons ago 🤣
Kaleo's lead singer is another singer who has that sound of just singing with gravel and sandpaper in his voice! Excellent band.
What a lot of People dont know is that Eddie had a very severe cold and bronchitis before this show. Also You HAVE to do the Live Pearl Jam “Release” Live 92’ Holland absolutely insane!! Has to be the 92 Live Holland Release version! Thanks!
He had a lower jawl, deep tongue technique like Layne Staley did.
Love the reaction. What I got from this video isn't a surprise. Eddy is special. Even an opera singer can't come close. There's only a few stand alone vices in the world and he is one of them and can't be matched unless you're born with it. Can't even mimic that. that's for sure
He was ill during this, but his voice has that grit all the time. Another great recording of this can be found by searching for pearl jam black pinkpop
You should also look into hungerstrike temple of the dogs with Eddie Vedder and Chris cornell
Hahaha I can’t believe he was compared to John Mayer haha wtf!!
Excellent analysis. Go back and listen straight through, so much emotion. One of the best of the 90s
Dem pipes
John Mayer WISHES he sounded like Eddie Vedder
Awesome song
San Francisco is the city that I live in right now. I hope that you had a wonderful time staying in the city and performing at the Opera House 😊❤️🌹.
Good to see Maggie prepared
Love your reactions girl big fan keep up the good work
I don't know if you will read this comment, but this is how he made that rasp. He lightly compresses above the vocal folds (glottal compression). It's the bridging technique between clean and harsh vocals. Taking this technique further is how to do fry screams and a few other harsh techniques. I've been singing for my entire life. This was how I was taught to do it. I learned the language later.
Thank you for your comment and info. 😊
Hit fuckin play
still waiting for even flow
Ohhh my.... I missed the live!!! The curse of working 6pm to 6am, 6 nights a week!!! 😆 🤣 😂 Luv ya's from Kentucky!!!
Thank you for your comment! Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Just wanted to THANK YOU for being my B-E-A-U-TIFUL Channel Member! 💖 Your support means A LOT to me! Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ua-cam.com/video/wqnYJzLorBk/v-deo.html
Great to see you back 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This special Kind of Sad Songs only Seattle Bands can write.......
It’s great how singers of one sort can appreciate others in a different genre. And when you’re this good, you can break some rules and make something awesome. Great thing about singing; in order to be good, you have learn all the rules and then you can bend and break them.
I sang in high school. I miss it. Even though I wasn’t all that great.
You should react to Eddie singing live with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on the song The Waiting. It's like the song was written for him.
That was Awesome!!!
Also the cover of reinge on me
Wow this was a pleasure to watch! Subscribed
Welcome and thank you for your lovely comment! 💖 Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ua-cam.com/video/wqnYJzLorBk/v-deo.html
15:04 is when she lets the music play.
congratulations! thank you for the video.
Turning a heartbreaking into a 100% 🔥af song 🤘
After two years of postponed concerts I will finally see them again in a week. I cannot wait and I have seen them about 5 times so far. eddie is the best and must be protected at all costs.
Pearl Jam "Release Me" is a really great one. Couple really great live videos too. One from baby Eddie, and one from old man Eddie.
I’ve realized that all of the biggest four ‘90s Seattle grunge singers had some type of distortion going on with their voice. That would be Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, and Eddie Vedder right here. It never struck me as them trying to imitate each other, but more like a natural part of all their own voices and vocal styles. Plus, it was at the outset of the grunge/alt rock explosion at the beginning of that decade that lower voices came back into favor. So singers like Eddie were able to achieve the recognition they deserved.
Sorry I missed it, Maggie. I am glad I could see the video. I hope I can catch the next one.
That would be great! 👍
Where csn I find the Even Flow reaction?
So do I. I just don't want the Twitch Platform on my phone... 😒
Congrats
It's pretty amazing to see a live audience sing this in concert. It's like 90% participation. Nothing wrong with singing along with a party song and feeling a sense of community but this one is different.
There are very few live performances I’ve seen where the artists leaves absolutely everything on the floor and still managed to coax the ultimate amount of beauty and perfection out of the passion. This one, Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky (Abbey Road Sessions, in particular), St Paul and the Broken Bones - both Grass is Greener (OurVinyl Sessions) and Broken Bones and Pocket Change (Bluegrass Underground), and Matt Corby - Brother (live on Triple J)…all of these performances encapsulate every aspect of “all in” in the utmost fashion. Just brilliant!
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you at the Premiere of my new reaction video to NIGHTWISH tomorrow?
Eddie Vedder is gorgeous.
You too
Thank you for your lovely comment! 💖 Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ua-cam.com/video/wqnYJzLorBk/v-deo.html
I really love there rendition of last kiss, it is so well done
Same!
my goodness, 15 minutes to get to the start
No dry seat in the house
Pearl jam is the Best ❤
John Mayer couldn’t hold Eddie’s jock strap .
You talked for 15:17 before you started the video. I like reactors who get right to the music.
Damn, I love this performance. 🖤 I don’t think you’ve reacted to Lorna Shore yet. Not sure if you’ve heard of them, but their vocalist Will Ramos is UNREAL. Recently, he met with Elizabeth from The Charismatic Voice to get scoped while doing harsh vocals for science-and it’s fascinating! It was fun to see experts in the field of vocals geeking out over his epiglottis. 😂
I love how Eddie does the alternating half notes not a trill but slower and very controlled. Very moving lyrics that have personal meaning to Eddie in his divorce. His heart was broken by her.
Maggie's a stunner. Sheesh
Hi, there’s a metal singer with opera training in the band HELSTAR. The song DARK INCARNATION blew me away, they’ve got another song ABOLISH THE SUN that also really showcases his vocal abilities.
Love this track for reactions by the way. What a great performance by Eddie.
You should check out Their cover of Reign o’er me live from The Who tribute. Great vocal
Thank you for your suggestion. 😊
He actually had a head cold during this concert 😮
"Grandma is it true you were the one that broke Eddy Vetter's heart?"
Love the vids! Gotta do Alice In Chains- Love Hate Love, live at the Moore! Layne Staley's voice was at his absolute prime at this moment of his life.
Where can we find the Even Flow reaction?
Love hate love by Alice In Chains is another great performance of the Seattle era!
Eddie was sick during this performance and it was recorded after midnight
I couldn't make it to the end of this! I was getting way too stressed out by the CONSTANT interruptions and you trying to imitate his voice at the end of EVERY line! Just a horrible experience! This performance by Eddie Vedder is a masterpiece... and you were so busy picking it apart that you didn't allow us to experience it!
If you listen to Ted from the movie Ted, he explains this singing style, and displays it in a karaoke scene. 🐻
If you haven’t yet look it up, Search how they came up with their band name. 😜
Hope you’re having a amazing day! You’re insanely beautiful😍😍😍 you always have amazing outfits.
Not only is he talented but also very sexy here.
See you
ich finde es gut wie du das machst, mach weiter so super
Why do I miss all your live videos. Dang it. Always get the notifications but don’t catch it in time.
Nice reaction, where is "even flow" I hope you'll react to
Thank you for your suggestion. 🤗
Sheffield UK here
21:14 Maggie: I like the gentleness of his voice.
Me: 👀
I love his cover of The Who song Reign o'er Me.
Skip the first 14 minutes folks. Just helping you all out.
He had just gotten over a cold before this performance
I cannot help but contrast your reading the lyrics, to the product delivery! Just a tad bit of difference there!!!! Great reaction.
Please do the unplugged version of the somg porch it's, honestly one of the best live performances
One of the best live performances ever! Queensryche - Take Hold of The Flame(Tokyo) best!
I concur, that is the best live performance ever 👏
It's so hard to tell if you're just trolling people. lol 'Sounds like John Meyer."
Maggie, listen to Eddie on Howard Stern singing Elderly lady... you'll hear Eddies natural voice. He's a rock God
If you are looking for a similar voice. Darius Tucker from Hootie and the Blowfish, is the only one that comes to mind, who is sounding kinda the same way :)
Nice reaction, love it.
Scott stapp of creed also Thomas
Thank you for your comment! Hope you are having a lovely weekend! 😊 Just wanted to THANK YOU for being my B-E-A-U-TIFUL Channel Member! 💖 Your support means A LOT to me! Can't wait to see you tomorrow on my livestream: ua-cam.com/video/wqnYJzLorBk/v-deo.html
Check this out. I can sing, but not like Eddy. But it is allergy season now and I am affected.i was watching this video, and you were wondering how he kept up his gravely voice, and I tried singing some of this song . And lo and behold, I nailed the sound. So your answer to my theory is that ed sprayed his throat with allergic pollen just before he sang, lol
👍
For a similar vocal style, but in a completely different style, I recommend Iceland’s Kaleo. I suggest either without you, or way down we go
You realize we all already know the lyrics...
