I think the brand looks like it’s made for teens and preteens (basically people going through puberty), but the “unicorn” aspect makes it look like it could be fun and suitable for younger children. It wouldn’t surprise me if a parent saw that and thought it would be great for their daughter and her friends to do at a sleepover. I will say, not to blame the mom, obviously, but if it were me I would have researched what was in the mask before putting it on a 5 year old whether it looked like it was for kids or not. Either way, there should have been some sort of warning on the packaging or they shouldn’t have marketed it towards children. Lol- I wrote this before I got to the part where the mom got it for her daughter. Guess I was right!
"This product is made from all natural ingredients so it's good for you!" yeah, well poison ivy is all natural and you don't see anyone using that for skincare.
When the product is made for children it does actually have higher restrictions in EU, so if this product is exported (it is), they must’ve known about this and I’m pretty sure they were either pretending this product was made for adults or they simply did not obey the rules.
I think all ‘kids makeup’ should be non-toxic, and food safe (not edible, food safe) These are things going on kids skin, and probably being eaten, sometimes put on the wall, in hair, clothes.
The fact that they didn’t do a full-on RECALL is insane. usually when a product has a bad reaction on that front, a full recall is the best way to save face.
So I was chemically burned when I was a kid and am now scarred on my neck and jaw. A chemical burn like this isn’t just it’s hot and burns. Days after you can still feel the pain of where it happened, you can feel the warmth days after from the irritation as your skin tries to recover. I remember standing over my parents sink as I watched my skin fall off and blood drip into the sink while I was crying. It’s a horrible experience that nobody deserves to suffer through.
Yeah i used a pimple patch that burned a hole / ulcer into my face near my jaw. the surrounding skin got scaly and dry and was very hot and itchy for days. This happened to me over a week ago and its still healing. cant imagine a large section of your body being covered in a chemical burn. sounds so incredibly painful
Yeah I tried using frankincense essential oil on my skin once (I was a very stupid teenager) and I got burned. The area around my nose was red, bumpy, painful, blistered and dry for months. almost 6 months I think for the skin to look normal and a while after that for it to not feel sensitive and burning to any product I put there. Chemical burns are no joke and now I stick to gentle science approved methods!
I was forced by my "father"'s girlfriend to use Mary Kay bullshit even if I told her it would burn me. I wasn't allowed to go to the doctor if I didn't try it, so I was forced to. My face burned for WEEKS from that shit, luckily it wasn't so bad to make me bleed, but my doctor said it was very close and prescribed me acne cream (it didn't end up even working but that's another story). That lady still tries to force me to use that bullshit that nearly gave me scars
That reaction your skin has is so telling! He's got gallons of actually good skincare on his face everyday and he still got that red that quickly from this mask!
It’s so crazy because you can see him turn red in less than 1 min and by the end of two mins it’s super red and he’s said it’s feeling warm - that isn’t normal
What’s really weird is that the formulators approved this product. I’m finishing my degree in cosmetics chemistry, and I’ve been in a lab on students practice - the group of people the formulators test the product on includes themselves. It’s a normal procedure to test your own product and adjust the formula when you see something is wrong. And with this kind of product, the pH level should’ve been tested for each batch - and basing of the tingling sensation, the burning and the smell, I highly doubt they were. This looks like a chemical burn more than an allergic reaction since the second one usually spreads a bit further instead of living that straight line
their answer is bulls**t : yes, composition varies completely from batch to batch of each botanical extract, but each batch is analyzed post-production and u get its full chemical composition before using it. no brand in their right mind would start mixing anything without the full analysis sheet beforehand. then, there is contamination (by micro-organisms), which is another issue.
I did notice that after James used the mask that his skin was a little more red. You could really tell in his cheeks. I like face masks but I'm so picky about the ones I use. I have very sensitive skin and need to be aware of what I put on my face.
I'm surprised more people haven't commented on the redness in his skin after using that mask. I hadn't been paying attention to what mask he had put on his face, but once he took it off his skin was so irritated that I checked the description box.
The bravery of this man 😭 I could never put it anywhere near my skin (I'm from Europe so it's thousands of kilometres away and I hope it stays like that)
I, unfortunately, cannot be fucked to take care of my skin, but I love seeing people like you putting in the effort and seeing beautiful results from their skincare. You look great!
Girl, same! I have super sensitive skin AND also I'm from Argentina so literally none of the products James talks about are available to me, but I just love to hear him talking! hahaha
I know the feeling, no matter what I do it doesn’t look any better and I also don’t have the patience to use something for a month to see the results 😂 I’m so lazy
@@PumaArg frozen aloe ( just because I don’t like the aloe dripping on me) and vitamin c face cream is the only thing that has worked for my sensitive, dry acne prone skin. I just started to incorporate this 3HA’s clear toner (AHA, BHA,PHA) and that’s been working too. No break out yet. Downside it’s a chemical so any sunlight exposed will cause sunburn sooooo 😗
Looking at the packaging of YesTo's products as a whole, I feel like they've been aiming for the pre-teen/early-teen/middle-school-aged demographic with their entire brand. The style of the package art just really looks like it was designed to look trendy on an Instagram post, and it probably looks good in TikTok videos in the same way. Reminds me of St. Ives... As for my own experiences, the unicorn mask did sting my skin, but left no lasting damage, probably because I took it off immediately. I distinctly remember the smell of the grapefruit and thinking, "There's no way that's good for sensitive skin!"
Which is really ironic and hypocritical of YesTo. Its like theyre saying "Oh, we don't want to influence on social media but our products say otherwise!"
I'm so glad that you point out how allergenic and irritating "natural" stuff can be. I have very sensitive skin, and almost everything I've reacted to is "natural"- usually some kind of extract or oil. I find it so frustrating when I see people automatically suggest some "natural" cosmetic product when someone says they have sensitive skin. So, thank you for informing people that "natural" doesn't mean "totally safe" or hypoallergenic.
You're MORE likely to react to "natural" ingredients, not less. Our immune systems are primed to attack things that our species has encountered before, usually a lot, over many, many generations. We're much less likely to experience allergies to synthetic substances (unless they're made to closely mimic natural substances, which is sometimes the case).
Also just to add on to that, (at least in the food world) natural doesn’t really mean anything. People can argue that any is natural so in the end it doesn’t matter too much. Tea tree oil and aloe Vera and stuff can be amazing for your skin but like you mentioned, some people can be allergic or be irritated by it. I think it is just important to find products that work for you regardless of it being advertised as “natural” or not.
i immediately subbed when you began criticizing the anti-science stance of the natural fallacy skincare often uses. im not even into skincare as a topic, this just got recommended to me, and im already in support. thank you.
i feel like this wary behavior is only appropriate when it is about what kind of chemicals they are using. i went on a craze. no shampoo that isnt home made, home made conditioner, soap bare, making a garden, always googling products scandals before buying it. i mean like PFAS are in everything, younger and younger people are getting cancer because of the cancer causing chemicals that also cause infertility and hormonal issues. what’s worse is a lot of products aren’t PFAS tested, so even if you google any problems they could have it. plastics, clothing, water proof stain resistant things. we used to roll our eyes and think “yea, everything causes cancer” but now it is for real and we can avoid it if we try. can’t really trust a company to care about you unless you are compromising their money.
This stupid mask burned me a while ago, and my skin isn’t super sensitive 😭 I was with a friend and we laughed about it for a bit until my face was STILL RED hours later! I notice people give these kinds of things as birthday gifts, now I just throw them away because I’m worried I’m going to look like I have a mask sunburn again 😟
Probably didn't realise it's more specifically called a chemical burn, and it is a burn still. But you probably didn't have bad intentions when commenting that
My aunt bought some "Christmas themed" face masks for me and my daughter 2 Christmases ago. They were cute and had little snowmen on them. Well I'm not sure where she got them, but I did check the dates and they were still supposed to be in date, and the ingredients looked pretty basic with low percentages. Let me tell you. I'm not very used to actives cause I don't use them often (I don't think I need much, there's salicylic acid in my cleanser but that's it), but these did NOT look like they were meant for people who used them all the time, they looked like something fun to do for one night like after hot cocoa and siting by the fire. I tried mine first so I could decide if I was going to let my daughter use it. BIG ASS HELL NO. I had it on my skin for 30 seconds and I could feel my face burning, not tingling like "hi I'm menthol, nice to meet you." BURNING. After a minute I had to take it off, and my skin was so red it looked like I'd been sitting in the sun for two hours with no sunscreen, and my face felt swollen. There was absolutely no way that was touching my daughter's face. I feel bad for the people in this Yesto story. You're supposed to be able to trust that a formulation won't burn your skin, even if you yourself might have an allergy it shouldn't look like you've been baking in the sun after just three or four minutes. And for the packaging to literally say "if it's tingling it's working" is awful. I feel like these masks should tell people to patch test before using the entire mask.
And simply by design, sheet masks aren’t packaged in a way that enables patch tests very easily. Once you’ve opened it to do a patch test, you’d have to wait 24 hours to be able to use the mask, and I can’t imagine wanting to use a product that had been sitting opened for that long, especially one that’s “all natural” with possibly dubious or negligible amounts of preservatives and stabilizers.
@@georgia2321 right. The packaging should be resealable at the least, with a small patch you can pull out to test. Especially masks with higher percentages or chemicals that are known irritants.
I feel like its very helpfull for "skinfluencers" to call out this kind of behaviour from companies. It's very shady and unprofessional for a relativly big business to act like this, jesus. Looks like they rlly care huh, doesn't take action before hundreds of ppl comlain and facebook posts go up. So yeah thank you James. Your videos always makes me smile and are very informative.
The problem with a lot of skinfluencers is that they're PAID to show off skincare products to their followers. And you don't always see them being honest about the product in their posts.
The “despite the outdated vector drawings that were really popular in the 2000’s” accompanied by a couple of side-eyes was exactly the catty joke I needed to hear today.
I used to be super into “natural” skincare, and even back then when I tried “yes to” products I didn’t like them. The cucumber formulas that are supposed to be for sensitive skin burnt! Not tingled, A sensitive formula shouldn’t do either. I was broke back then and would usually just use stuff I didn’t like … but I threw that moisturizer out.
@@jaygerb0mb girl! Try keep the peace acne wash by Versed if you can! I think it’s $15 but I’m not sure… probably more than what YesTo is but it’s much better and it doesn’t hurt.
Just a psa kids under 13 shouldn’t be worrying over their skin lest they have a skin condition or are acne prone. We need to stop marketing adult insecurities to our children. Period.
I agree but I also have to point out that skincare is also a health thing. Especially delicate skin that children have, it’s important to protect it to prevent more future conditions and stuff. Like even just sunscreen is important :>
@@LPSCANDY10 but since when was sunscreen ever used solely as skincare? I’m talking face mask, chemical peels, eyebag care, wrinkle prevention, Botox, ect. Sunscreen is skincare in the sense of medicine not in the sense of marketable beauty as it’s more for cancer prevention. Skin care is washing your face with soft soap and water. The only kids who need more is the ones with acne issues or eczema.
Honestly I had bad experiences as a kid with sheet masks. And you're exactly right. Honestly most kids just want the experience of "spa" . They could've just made it without any effects. Like maybe just scented? Cause the products and packaging were very cute. But they didn't need to be REAL
My mother put me onto skincare at a very early age it was the best thing that ever happened to me I definitely do not look 42 because of it I have my best friends put there young daughters on skincare as you should it saves there skin in years to come
This is so scary because, looking at that packaging, I can see myself buying that for my 6 year old niece who loves absolutely anything that has unicorns. I’ll probably avoid this brand in the future but also I’ll keep an eye out for anything that mentions tingling like that and steer clear!
There are some ingredients where the light tingle is okay, but there is a difference between tingling/cooling (like menthol and witchazel) and burning.
This brand and Pacifica were some of my first skincare brands and I genuinely thought skincare wasn’t for me after all the issues they brought my skin. At least Pacifica listens to customers and has come out with gentle and fragrance free products. YesTo has no excuse to still be selling these masks.
Even having sensitive skin, you can find good skincare products. This is just negligence. Coconut products cause me to break out which is definitely an issue lol but I still find things!
I was gifted a bunch of masks because they weren't using them anytime soon and it actually had one face mask from this same company. It wasn't unicorn themed or shiny. Packaging wasn't memorable at all tbh. I was so scared when it started getting itchy and hot. I thought it was a gimmick since I had never felt the same with other masks. I had to check the package and saw the tingling warning that said you should only remove it if it got too uncomfortable. I powered through but not gonna lie, I should've removed it immediately. Thankfully the heat and itchiness only lasted some minutes after I took it off. I just found out how scary that actually was now that I've been recommended this video.
I've had burning/redness reactions to skin products, and the issue got so bad, I had to see a dermatologist.Take care of your skin, or it will take revenge in a horrible way.
I used the Yes To tomatoe sheet mask. I basically had the same reaction as all those women. I went online and saw multiple negative reviews. They haven't changed a thing.
I avoid that brand completely now, even if it's just a cheap thing on sale. This mask might be worse than most of their products but "way too many fruit extracts that are known irritants" seems to kind of be their MO.
Thank you! Was just about to add this. I thought I was the only one. T.T it was the first one I used, and is still the ONLY time I've used one, cuz I'm still too scared >.
The moment I heard that it was a grapefruit line, my sensitivity alarm bells were on. (I have very sensitive skin and I can’t do any kind of citrus bc my skin is very dry)
I'm very allergic to all citrus fruit so I avoid it in skincare like the plague. Even a good, well-formulated product with citrus in it would give me a burning, peeling rash.
The worst reaction I've ever had in my life was to the Neutrogena grapefruit makeup wipes! Obviously I have come a long way since using makeup wipes lol, but I avoid grapefruit specifically, lemon and orange arent that bad for me.
I actually got this exact mask for Christmas in 2019 and burned me in less than 5 min just like the others in this video, and I assumed it was a allergic reaction and didn't know anything till I googled it ltr. It was quite shocking, how quickly it started to burn your skin and kinda put me off ever using a sheet mask again.
same, I even remember reading the stupid "if it's tingling it's working!" shit on the back so I left it on longer than my intuition normally would have. once I realized what had happened I washed my face and went to bed thinking "I hope this red mark goes away by tomorrow" luckily it did but still.
Fyi, you can buy diy compressed sheet masks in bulk on amazon. You can add whatever moisturizer works for your face and the mask will expand. That way you control what you put in the mask and you won't have a reaction.
My daughter and I used the unicorn mask multiple times. It really affected my skin but not hers. I have sensitive skin and it made it red but I thought I just had it on too long. So a few months later we both tried it again and I had to take it off within just a few minutes. She was fine but I looked like I had a sunburn that lasted for a couple of days. I wish I would’ve heard of this lawsuit. I definitely would’ve contacted someone. I’m just glad my daughter didn’t have the same reaction. I would’ve felt terrible. But just like my therapist always says, you can’t blame yourself for something you didn’t know was going to happen. You don’t know what you don’t know.
Grapefruit is like putting lemon on your face. I also think people need to educate themselves on actives in skincare. But this seems like a product malfunction.
I bought a Neutrogena Grapefruit cleanser and it made my skin feel tight and horrible, I noticed I was getting flakiness around my nose and extra redness.
@@YamiKisara_ I had the same reaction to the nuetrogena wash too. I thought it was just I was allergic cause I don’t have sensitive skin. I don’t know why they keep putting grapefruit in things.
Not only does it have grapefruit, but it has lactic acid as well! It's nice to see a proper exfoliant, but all it's going to do is push in the grapefruit extract!
@@YamiKisara_ I had the exact same cleanser and causes so much dryness and increased breakouts. I've been fine with the orange bottle but the grapefruit one is a massive no from me
My daughter is 5 as well and it’s important to know that children’s skin is very sensitive, but also very resilient to the elements. Their body is in its prime for warding off skin ailments adults are normally stricken with due to age. Any masks that promote evening skin tone, age-fighting ingredients, etc., are for people that have skin already showing signs of what the mask is trying to “cure”. I understand that this mom was trying to initially find a way to do a mom/daughter spa day, so it’s just a matter of educating yourself as a parent to prevent your child from being harmed by products that are intended for teens/adults. The only downside to this is that common sense is unfortunately not as common as we think it is, so we are going to hear about things like this time and time again.
One time I tried to use the cucumber face mask, years ago, and my skin burned wayyyy too much for comfort. I immediately stopped using and never trusted the brand again.
That’s scary. My 3 nieces and I used these exact masks and didn’t notice anything weird on our faces. Maybe we just got lucky lol I’m a licensed esthetician and normally don’t use products like that unicorn mask but my nieces wanted to so we did. Glad we didn’t have a bad reaction!
I bought one for myself cuz I thought it was cute but when I went to use it I guess the packaging had opened up and it was all dried. I was kinda sad but now I’m thankful!
No it ain’t? I have extremely sensitive skin and yesto has never hurt me or made me feel even a burn. It was always nice and cool on my constantly hot face
I am allergic to grapefruit. Found out using Neutrogena's grapefruit line when it came out! smelled so good, but I ended up getting hives all over my face. so now I do check all products if they have grapefruit.
@@kittenmimi5326 I eat grapefruit and I am fine but if I touch my face after peeling it I will break out in hives. same with oranges, so I can eat them completely fine but I wash my hands after I peel them. If I do have orange grind in a meal or whatever then my mouth gets too hot and itchy so I avoid that.
I’ve been doing beauty stuff for years. I’ve used retinol, witch hazel, charcoal washes, the whole shebang. Never once have I had burns, swelling, deep redness, not even when I’ve used AHA and BHA, which are straight up acids. The fact that this company did this, ignored it, even dismissed it, it just disgusts me. And the fact that this is a very feminine focused and youthful esque focused company, it is meant for younger people. Younger people who aren’t as experienced with skincare, younger people who wouldn’t know better. Am I saying this is intentional? No. Am I still pissed at the irresponsible marketing and chemical choices and handling of this PR catastrophe? Yes.
I have a couple of theories about what could have happened here. I'm a chemical engineer, but I'm not a cosmetic chemist so I can't say for certain without doing a deep dive into the ingredients, specifically I'm interested in the ingredients that comprise the "glitter paper mask" portion of this product, but I'll still present my general thoughts. this could be a reaction to citrus, since grapefruit is a known citrus allergen, however I'm not too convinced since most of these people have had other citrus products in the past with no issue, I would assume. most people that have a broad allergy like citrus are aware of it. that leads me back to the mask component itself, which is unusual. I've never seen a glitter paper mask on the market before. most glitter masks are gel masks. even when I search for a "paper" glitter skincare mask right now, I can't find one. this makes me wonder if this "paper" glitter mask component of the compound mask is a YesTo patented product, or simply an unusual product that isn't commonly used. most glitter masks are gel, like I said, in order to ensure that the glitter part is totally encased in hydrating skin safe gel, so that the glitter doesn't irritate or even touch the skin. so I'm a little suspicious of this "paper glitter mask" component of the product, since I'm completely unfamiliar with anything like this in a sheet mask with glitter. so the glitter mask itself could easily be the skin irritating culprit, however, based on the look of the irritated skin, I think it's more likely that the combination of this "paper" glitter mask and the liquid formula caused some type of reaction once packaged together, in the absence of chemical stabilizers/preservatives, since many of these "natural" brands don't use appropriate (or enough) chemical stabilizers to prevent breakdown of the actives or reactions between ingredients. sometimes "natural" brands will just slap some very bizarre edible or common ingredient into the formula, in this case grapefruit, which can be problematic as well. I would have to do more research on possible reactions between the components of this mask, and any stabilizers that were in the formula initially, but I do wonder about that issue. it's possible that testing was done on the liquid component of this mask individually for another product (a regular, non glitter grapefruit vitamin C mask), and then the company YesTo choose to place this pre-made liquid formula into packaging with a new paper glitter mask at a later time, and that the two components of the final mask, the pre-existing liquid formula and new glitter paper sheet mask, were not tested together, leading to an unforeseen reaction between the glitter mask component and the liquid formula. of course, it's also possible that the liquid formula was just bad in and of itself, leading to continuing chemical instability once packaged, which lead to skin irritation. anyway, those are just my thoughts. I feel so sorry for the 5 year old girl. I highly recommend just pretending when it comes to skincare with very young kids. you can buy packs of cloth sheet masks on Amazon that have no liquid, just the mask part. it might be fun to just place them in water, and DIY cute packaging for them with kids for a spa day. if not, please only use gentle ingredients like Aloe Vera, Hyaluronic Acid or Squalene on children's skin, and remember to put sunscreen on your child every day! especially on their faces and arms, even in winter. it's extremely important that the skin of your child is protected, even at a young age. consult with a dermatologist about skin safe options for kids, in terms of sunscreen, though any gentle moisturizer with sunscreen and no actives made specifically for the face should be fine, but please do consult a doctor on this matter first. I hope the victims win their lawsuit! I also can't stand these fake "natural" brands.
My daughter is 3 and I use those expandable masks with water for her now that she's interested in skincare. And after that she gets a regular unscented moisturizer. I don't trust putting anything not made for kids or even fragranced anywhere near her face (she's eczema prone). We still get to do the fun masks together without the worry since she doesn't know the difference anyway right now.
I’m no pro, but I had the same thought about the materials of the mask itself. I’m sure the ingredients played a part, but the skin on my face is pretty sensitive to certain materials. I wouldn’t have used that mask purely for the mask itself without knowing about the ingredients
The packaging I think took a big part in this. What I mean by that is, usually when we look at makeup or skincare product for kids, we would think that the products are safe. Companies usually use safe ingredients for things like makeup and skincare that were directed for younger kids. I don’t blame any buyer of this product. The title “all natural” also makes us think that this was safe. We happen to think that natural things like plants are good for us and our skin and body because we were taught that. What we weren’t taught is that certain chemicals from plants may not be as safe as we think it would be. The way that Yes To branded this product, it made sense that people were going to buy it. Kids packaging, “all natural” ingredients, who wouldn’t think that this would be a good product? I’m not even a professional in this subject so please don’t come at me. This is my idea and I just think that the way they branded the product is sketchy.
Omg! I used this on my bf 09/2019 and his face was sooo red and irritated. When I went to the target website there were a TON of reviews and pictures of people experiencing the exact same issue. Im not surprised they're finally getting sued🙄🙄
This for some reason reminds me of an experience I had with this TonyMoly “tomato cream”. It claims to brighten your skin, and is made with tomato extract. The packaging is extremely cute, it’s just like a toy tomato that you open with cream inside. Let me tell you, my face has never burned that much before. I would start tearing up, my skin felt sensitive afterwards, and it honestly felt horrible. Thankfully I did not get an allergic reaction, but i think that product messed with my natural skin oils. Mind you I was a teenager back then, so I didn’t know about skin types and what is supposed to be good or bad. I later found out that I have dry, sensitive skin that can only work with light, watery, hydrating products. The absolute torture that my skin went through to figure it out is honestly saddening for me, and all because of cute packaging and clever marketing.
I got the YesTo tomato face mask a few years ago and it made my skin look burnt for days. Ever since then I've never even looked to see what they have, there's much better face masks that you can get way cheaper.
My target still sells so much yes to products, so back in July 2020 I bought a COOLING cucumber face mask. After leaving it on for ONLY 3 minutes it began to burn. The face burns happens with all yes to products.
I agree. I bought a cucumber face mask several years ago when YesTo was fairly new and it burns like no other. They make people believe they are for sensitive skin when it’s far from it
Thankfully I've never had any burning reaction to their products, but I can see why most people would choose to avoid them just go be safe. And skin reactions suck so I hope you don't have to deal with them too often!
My 6 year old enjoys doing masks with me. I would never buy something “grapefruit” for him knowing he has sensitive skin (like myself). I usually stick to more moisturizing formulas that are gentle; I also do test patches when we try something new. I don’t put something on him I wouldn’t try myself.
I wouldn't consider myself to have sensitive skin, probably a "normal" amount of sensitivity, but I had a papaya facemask cause an itchy, red, and dry rash on my face for a few days. Glad you're taking precautions with your son.
@Sui Des I feel like it's just some fun between them, seems like a child's curiosity. At least they are being careful with the products. But if it is a parent forcing their grown-up skincare on their kid, then I totally agree with you.
my grandma is always looking for “natural” remedies and products. I told her that just because something isn’t natural doesn’t mean it’s bad. I told her about the science that goes into making products and things like that. natural remedies can be great sometimes but when it comes to skin not so much.
oh yes. i have a burn scar on my wrist from when I had a wart there when I was 4 and my mum strapped a slice of raw garlic to it overnight. many years later i studied herbal medicine and we were taught raw garlic can cause skin burns with long exposure. i have the scar to prove it even now at 26 lol! to be fair the wart did not survive the treatment so it half worked.
this was heart breaking to watch ;-; so many people already feeling a complex or self consciousness trying to take steps to improve themselves or just to TREAT themselves to a nice time and this . .this. . . it really just breaks my heart
i have younger sister and ofc she was always drawn to those "cute"/unicorn/glitter sheet masks. im really happy that now when we are doing masks together; she really enjoys sheet masks that i use and are completely safe to put on her face
The Animals by Masque Bar line has a very cute unicorn mask (all of their masks are adorable and gentle IME) if you want to go for something along those lines :)
James: "I don't know if I'm redder than before" Me, yelling: YES, YOU ARE!! 😳😳 I have the Yes To charcoal micellar water because it was the most affordable cruelty free micellar water I could find... Does not work nearly as well as others I have used and I find it kind of irritates my eyes if I don't wipe it off quickly. God I wish more brands would go cruelty free, I had hoped CoverGirl would be a turning point but there's still SUCH a long way to go. 🐇🥺
@@penbeatssword7350 any product that is sold China cannot be cruelty free. Companies that are cruelty free literally foresake the second largest consumer market. I don’t have sensitive skin at all, yet Yes To’s products burn like hell! I’ve tried a few over the years until I used their Yes To Cucumber “soothing” eye makeup remover pads. I thought I was gonna go blind from the pain!
My mom bought those for me when I was very young and they immediately gave me red puffy eyes. She thought they'd be good because they're "all natural" :/
I have NEVER been a woman who is super into skincare, but you are the first person I would actually listen to. I love that you educate inbetween the story’s, as it helps me retain the info better actually. Definitely subscribing and will be learning how to take care of my skin better while enjoying bomb commentary🥰
I had a similar reaction about 5 years ago with their charcoal tomato face mask. Outline of the mask on my face, Redness, burning, hot skin. The whole thing. And the packaging said “Tingling? YES it’s working!“ Girl no. The directions said 10 mins but I only made it 3. Took that shit right off. To this day it’s the ONLY thing I’ve ever had a reaction too. I have the exact opposite of sensitive skin. It can take a lot. Not even the ordinary peel made it burn like that mask. Say yes? How bout no. They have other products that are ok but I’ll never buy one of their sheet masks again
I had the worst reaction to one of their products. I turned red and broke out horribly (and I have brown skin so red showing up is very concerning). I thought it was salicylic acid that hurt my skin back then which kept me from trying anything with salicylic acid for years. Turns out it was just their product lol
I don't really use any skin care products or cosmetics and I'm so far removed from the online beauty community, but your videos are SO interesting and engaging! I'm hooked, keep up the great work
When I was first getting into skincare, I tried a few different sheet masks, and one of them was the YesTo tomato mask. Tony Moly had those adorable food-themed masks that I really liked, so I figured it was a similar idea. After using the tomato mask, my face immediately felt irritated, and I don't have sensitive skin at all. I avoided all YesTo products completely after that. Imagine how validated I felt seeing other people talk about these masks like, a year later😲it was so weird
I tried their makeup cleanser wipes and it immediately irritated my skin i threw them right out after that i I guess I just picked them up in panic..won't do that again lol
I remember being at work and seeing the news break on this. We had a whole new shipment of these come in the day before and I pulled every single one from the shelf and told my manager to NOT sell these to people due to this
This is the first of your videos that I have watched. I'm at 0:47 and you have a new subscriber! The "natural" beauty marketing misinformation drives me freaking nuts!!! I love chemistry. Science is real. Good on you James!
Their makeup wipes (I’m sorry) did burn my face as well! I’m so afraid of this brand. Had an allergic reaction to them which caused redness, burning and 6 month with blemishes and pimples due to the stress they had caused my skin. I had never had an allergic reaction before this incident :(
I've been vegan for over 12 years now. When I first went vegan, cruelty free products were not as widely available AT ALL as they are now, regardless of price or quality. I was also quite poor, lol. I used a few of their products because they were about the only company offering affordable vegan products. I have NEVER been a fan of the "clean" beauty descriptor. I'm a science gal, not a pseudo science gal. Labeling like "clean" and "natural" are sus; I also have never been a consumer of organic products nor have I ever cared about GMOs. Because science and facts do not support MOST of the claims about clean, natural, organic and non-GMO products. Companies use scare tactics to basically trick people into believing their products are safer and healthier. Anyway, I haven't used this brand in a very long time. I am not at ALL surprised about these issues experienced by people who used their product. Not because of their brand specifically, but due to the nature of brands that use this type of advertising and promotion. I automatically become suspicious of any brand that presents themselves this way. I understand it's very difficult as a consumer to sort through all of the claims and ingredients and all of that. BUT, consumers who demand these "clean" beauty products REALLY need to educate themselves about what this means.
Never tried the unicorn mask, though, I don't even recall them having masks back when I used their products. Also, I'm a bitter kill joy, so the combination of pink, sparkly and unicorn would IMMEDIATELY put me off, lol.
Every product I've used from yes to has irritated my skin, but their makeup remover wipes were the worst. They left my eye puffy, red, and sore for days.
I had the unicorn mask gifted to me around Christmas at some point and had to call out of work the day I used it because it burned my skin and hurt and itched so badly... only found out THE NEXT DAY that it was being recalled for that reason. I research every mask i get thoroughly now before I even open it lol
I have had terrible experiences with YesTo products. Specifically their tomato sheet mask and a cleanser. Both irritated my skin a weird amount. Which is extra strange to me, because my skin is very much not sensitive. Didn't give it much thought at the time, just haven't touched the brand since. Didn't know i wasn't the only one lol
The tomato mask had the same effect on me! To be fair my skin is quite reactive, but it was the one and only sheet mask that had that effect on me... And the one and only product I purchased from Yes To
I really do have issues with "all natural" skincare because Mother Nature and I are not on friendly terms...I'm allergic to nearly everything in nature. Oddly enough I'm fine with scientifically created skincare.
You're probably fine because with the scientifically created skincare they take out whatever could cause allergies or severe reactions lol But sorry you have to go through that, best of luck with your allergies.
@@tooshy2draw290 agreed. That's why it's so annoying when brands market themselves as "clean" and without "nasty" chemicals. As well as insisting that natural skincare is better when actually natural skincare have a much higher chance of giving someone a reaction/sensitivity. And don't get me started on the whole "parabens/preservatives are bad" debate.
I remember when that face mask was super big, a friend of mine had a pretty nasty reaction. Thank you for talking about this, companies need to be held accountable for their shady and irresponsible actions. Love this new series, love listening while working on my school work. It keeps me sane lol.
This was the first skin care line i ever used. When I was 15, I had a severe reaction to their tomato clay mask. My fave was red for dayyyys, and have been afraid to use their stuff. Alsooo, that Murad vitamin C cleanser is the BEST cleanser on the market 🙌🏻
Good choice staying away from them. I had this exact same reaction from a different brand that also contained grapefruit extract (that one was even fregnence free). It was so bad that I had to make urgent appoitment at the dermatologist in the same day and get emergency anti alergic shoots as my face and neck got super blown up. As a matter of fact I ate grapefruit before ... so I can't say I am alergic to it, I guess it's just something about it that my skin doesn't like.
I worked for Ulta during this time. I remember getting the notice to remove them from shelves immediately, but I never knew why. Nice to finally know the reason.
My daughter and I did this mask!!!!!!!!! I told her after about a minute to take it off as she complained of how it was feeling.... Thank goodness I did!
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I tried them, but omg, they feel so awful and uncomfortable that I can’t stand it. I don’t understand the appeal at all.
@@Annie_Annie__ I have found my people! The environmental implications give me the ick (though I’m not trying to eco shame sheet mask lovers, I’m sure they’re a drop in the ocean and I’m by no means zero waste) and my experience with them just did not make it worth it at all! Find it so awkward to wear, and don’t see any results that I can’t get from slugging up
yea I’m not a fan of sheet masks either… specially as they’re pretty bad for the environment.. better to use a silicone reusable one that you put over the top of your serums for 10 minutes coz at least you know exactly what your putting on and putting the sheet mask over… I dont even use the silicone ones coz I just don’t like the feeling of having something covering my face lol this is terrible and I feel so bad for them people… they should recall that product completely and not just repackage it and sell it… money grabbing company
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought "Tomato? On my skin? What? Why?" I'm not even allergic to them or anything and I like many foods with tomatoes but that just doesn't feel like a "refreshing, clean" scent that would normally go in a skincare product.
I've had sensitive skin my entire life. So, I probably would have had that same reaction, hands down. That's just plain awful they allowed this to happen. Those poor people. 😞
I used one of these masks from this brand, took less than a minute to feel weird enough to remove it luckily! As a teen, my mum bought me a hair removal as a safe alternative to razors. Guess who still has leg skin problems as an adult 💁🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Seeing a guy more into skin care than me is actually amazing. I'm glad you are able to enjoy something and just be you. I may not care about my skin care all that much, but I can definitely respect those that take the effort
Any skincare brand that uses "natural" marketing, clean beauty, and uses "detoxifying" gets a no from me. It's like supporting an MLM. I don't care if it "works", I don't support lack of ethics and misinformation. Just my opinion, though.
Since becoming an Esthetician I have not used a single one of their products. I had previously used some of the tomato line and the cucumber and cotton lines (acneic and sensitive). But added fragrance especially for a "naturally based" line is a no for me. I've had reactions to lines in the 40-125 dollar range with added fragrance as well. I avoid citrus as well due to my prone to redness and dehydratedness in my skin. Just need actives that have hydrating, calming, buffering (yes naturally derived) ingredients to round out the formula and that has given me the best results.
@@beautyfullyopinionated I am not sensitive to fragrances, and still I hate it in face products. A body lotion that smells nice? okay... but I hate having layers and layers of different smells on my face. and I hate it when skin care interferes with the smell of my parfume, I use even fragrance free anti-perspirants.
My impression from the packaging is that it's aimed at pre-teens/young teens, who have started puberty and are starting to get oily skin. I wouldn't put a "brightening" face mask on a 5 year old child, because the skin of young children is much more delicate than adult or adolescent skin. Products meant for reducing oil on adolescent skin would be too drying for a young child. I think ideally the parent would say "I do love how shiny that is, but that's for older kids, how about this one?" It sounds like this product would have been dangerous even for an adolescent or adult too. It isn't the parents fault how dangerous the product is. Most products aimed at 12 year olds would probably cause some dryness/itching/irritation if used on a 5 year old, but not chemical burns.
STOP OMG I loveeeee montale intense cafe (is montale paris a different thing? idk) but omg if you made fragrance videos it would make my life. anyways i love this series - like someone alluded to it satisfies my true crime cravings when you outwatch JCS
I can’t remember the exact product, I think it was a cleanser, but the only thing I’ve tried from YesTo really irritated my skin. However, I had a housemate who swore by their tomato stuff; I swear she had one of everything.
Years ago I used one of their grapefruit sheet masks and after 2 min my face felt numb yet also a burning sensation. I took it off because I knew something was wrong and my face was VERY red but I think I took it off before I could get a chemical burn. That kind of solidified my avoidance of this brand. I used their tomato moisturizer in high school/ early college and that was fine but nothing they’ve ever made has “wowed” me
I’ve only watched this one video, but I enjoyed it a lot, even though I’ve never been very interested in the beauty guru kind of thing or using a bunch of products on my skin (really, I should take more care of my skin so this was a wake up call). You sound like you know what you’re talking about and even brought expert opinion. Very professional.
The second you said there was grapefruit in it I knew what happened. I have severe allergies so I have a dermatologist, allergist etc.. grapefruit is super harsh and is more often used for a natural chemical peel.
I have tried different YesTo products with my Granddaughter, but not the masks. She has scalp psoriasis and the YesTo hair mask twice a week keeps it from flaring and works beautifully. However, she has tried the spray and the shampoo and they don’t work well at all. The only product we have found from this brand that works is the hair mask. I haven’t tried any of the face products with her and don’t plan to. She and I will sometimes do a face mask or under eye patches that I bought or received in my boxycharm. I’m sure this brand has some other things that are fine but I haven’t had luck finding any with the exception of the hair mask. Thank you for your review and opinions James! It really helps 😊
Thank you James. Before I discovered the wonderful skincare community on UA-cam, I occasionally used sheet masks for "self care time", but looking back now I realize these things either did nothing, or were irritating. Not to mention the horrific amount of waste. Someone gave my young daughter some sheet masks for her birthday last year -- I confiscated them, no way babe. 🦄
This is the sort of thing parents buy on impulse in the supermarket. It's not something the average consumer does tons of research on. You should be able to assume that products you buy are safe, even if they're not right for you. A heavy moisturiser made for dry skin might make oily skin break out, but it's not dangerous to use.
Yesto was a brand I had one of the worst reactions to, my face broke out into rashy hives. If I remember correctly, it was the detoxifying cleanser that caused my skin to react.
I used a Yes to product way back when I was in high-school (2013 I think) and it absolutely destroyed my face. I bought it because it was featured in Seventeen magazine as a great drug store skin care brand with a affordable pricing. It was one of their scrubs and after a couple of days I had a major breakout all over my face. I never struggled with that much acne until I used one of their products.
Okay so let’s pretend we weren’t all obsessed with skincare, looking at this sheet masks packaging, would you presume it was made for kids?!
Absolutely, the unicorn theme I always associate with kids
For sure I would think it was aimed at preteens!!
You are absolutely right, my girl absolutely loves and is drawn to this colorfulness. It's a really childish and cute piece no doubt at all.
Absolutely!! My daughter loves unicorns and would totally notice this one
"This product is made from all natural ingredients so it's good for you!"
yeah, well poison ivy is all natural and you don't see anyone using that for skincare.
So is botulism, lead, arsnic, formaldehyde, and cyanide.
fr 😂
i actually saw a poison ivy mask...
Poison Ivy actually *is* used as traditional medicine for a very limited, specific list of things
So is radium and they used that in skincare. Gives a nice glow to the skin, the cancer is just a side effect....
hot take: children's makeup products and other kind of products should have more heavy laws over what should be allowed for people to sell/market
not really a hot take i’m sure everyone agrees with that
@@epicgirl65060 It’s a hot take for corporations who don’t want to put more effort into their products than they have to (for example, YesToo)
When the product is made for children it does actually have higher restrictions in EU, so if this product is exported (it is), they must’ve known about this and I’m pretty sure they were either pretending this product was made for adults or they simply did not obey the rules.
Even hotter take: A vast majority of makeup products and anything other than the most basic skincare shouldn't be marketed towards kids at all.
I think all ‘kids makeup’ should be non-toxic, and food safe (not edible, food safe)
These are things going on kids skin, and probably being eaten, sometimes put on the wall, in hair, clothes.
The "tingling means it's working" message is so 90s anti acne skincare 😂😂
Noxema-esc lol
Omgosh yes this comment just put me in a time machine. I can almost feel the spot cream burning 😆🤔
Yes!
Yes! I remember my grandma insisting that skin care should burn a little or it's not working.
Hahaha, yes! A similar message told to us GenXers who spent the 80s setting our faces alight with liquid fire known as Sea Breeze toner. 🔥
The fact that they didn’t do a full-on RECALL is insane. usually when a product has a bad reaction on that front, a full recall is the best way to save face.
Don't know about saving face since those kids definitely didn't save theirs'.
What a genius pun
I almost used it a month ago but I chose a different one I'm glad

@@AVMermaid pimples as a kid are the WORST!
Try out gentle cleansers, make sure she moisturizes, and pimple patches are your livesaver hon
@@mariya_tortilla oh my god that sounds terrible, I’m so sorry that happened to both of you😢 may I ask what products were used?
Yeah I tried using frankincense essential oil on my skin once (I was a very stupid teenager) and I got burned. The area around my nose was red, bumpy, painful, blistered and dry for months. almost 6 months I think for the skin to look normal and a while after that for it to not feel sensitive and burning to any product I put there. Chemical burns are no joke and now I stick to gentle science approved methods!
Dude I hope it isn’t too painful now 😢
I was forced by my "father"'s girlfriend to use Mary Kay bullshit even if I told her it would burn me.
It’s the clearly not reacting skin around his eyes that are the biggest tell they follow the exact lines of where the product didn’t touch his eyes.
He has rosacea
He also has rosecea so his skin is very sensitive.
I screamed lol the mask was about to do a number on his skin
What’s really weird is that the formulators approved this product. I’m finishing my degree in cosmetics chemistry, and I’ve been in a lab on students practice - the group of people the formulators test the product on includes themselves. It’s a normal procedure to test your own product and adjust the formula when you see something is wrong. And with this kind of product, the pH level should’ve been tested for each batch - and basing of the tingling sensation, the burning and the smell, I highly doubt they were. This looks like a chemical burn more than an allergic reaction since the second one usually spreads a bit further instead of living that straight line
Yep, not a chemist nor am I aspiring to be one, but I agree that these people's reactions look more like a first-degree burn than an allergic rash.
cosmetic chemistry sounds like such an awesome major! congrats
their answer is bulls**t : yes, composition varies completely from batch to batch of each botanical extract, but each batch is analyzed post-production and u get its full chemical composition before using it. no brand in their right mind would start mixing anything without the full analysis sheet beforehand. then, there is contamination (by micro-organisms), which is another issue.
I did notice that after James used the mask that his skin was a little more red. You could really tell in his cheeks. I like face masks but I'm so picky about the ones I use. I have very sensitive skin and need to be aware of what I put on my face.
Oh yes! You could tell he was getting red when he still had the mask on. It's kind of shocking they are keep on selling these...
I'm surprised more people haven't commented on the redness in his skin after using that mask. I hadn't been paying attention to what mask he had put on his face, but once he took it off his skin was so irritated that I checked the description box.
You can definitely see the outline around the eyes from the mask and he uses actives regularly. Yikes 😬
And his skin is used to acids... I can't imagine what this would do to my face.
Even after he put his sunscreen on you could see the clear spots under his eyes where the mask hadn't touched his cheeks!! That's shocking!!
The fact that his skin still turned red with the reformulated sheet mask 😭
The bravery of this man 😭 I could never put it anywhere near my skin (I'm from Europe so it's thousands of kilometres away and I hope it stays like that)
i know, he was like no i think im fine i don't think im redder and he was clearly red 😭😭

Ya. None of their products are good for sensitive skin. I remember using some makeup cleansing wipes from them once. Burned so bad!
As someone with sensitive skin, looking at that ingredient list made me shudder
I'm 42 and still use there products the only thing I can't stand that doesn't work is the makeup remover wipes everything else does
I'm so glad that you point out how allergenic and irritating "natural" stuff can be.
Agree with you
You're MORE likely to react to "natural" ingredients, not less. Our immune systems are primed to attack things that our species has encountered before, usually a lot, over many, many generations.
We're much less likely to experience allergies to synthetic substances (unless they're made to closely mimic natural substances, which is sometimes the case).
Same, I can’t use anything on my face with fragrances or essential oils or coconut oil, and EVERYTHING “natural” has coconut oil and fragrances!
@@emo-slime-mold people that are able to use facial products with a bunch of fragrance and not break out scare me.
I can literally see the redness forming on your face as you had the mask on! 😳😳😳😳 I can’t believe you actually tried it lol - you are a brave soul 💜
I wouldn't have used it.😄
I know right?! I was almost yelling at the screen to take it off man! He def had redness just from the minute he had that on his face. Wow.
i immediately subbed when you began criticizing the anti-science stance of the natural fallacy skincare often uses. im not even into skincare as a topic, this just got recommended to me, and im already in support. thank you.
i feel like this wary behavior is only appropriate when it is about what kind of chemicals they are using. i went on a craze. no shampoo that isnt home made, home made conditioner, soap bare, making a garden, always googling products scandals before buying it. i mean like PFAS are in everything, younger and younger people are getting cancer because of the cancer causing chemicals that also cause infertility and hormonal issues. what’s worse is a lot of products aren’t PFAS tested, so even if you google any problems they could have it. plastics, clothing, water proof stain resistant things. we used to roll our eyes and think “yea, everything causes cancer” but now it is for real and we can avoid it if we try. can’t really trust a company to care about you unless you are compromising their money.
Everything is a chemical. Just fyi. @@comfortme
You mean chemical burn
"hi I'm menthol, nice to meet you" awesome
@@felicitygee381 It's an ingredient that says hello, lol. It lets you know it's there, even if it's a small amount.

Agree. Big companies like this should be held accountable and not just pass out vouchers.

There are some ingredients where the light tingle is okay, but there is a difference between tingling/cooling (like menthol and witchazel) and burning.

At least Pacifica listens to customers and has come out with gentle and fragrance free products. YesTo has no excuse to still be selling these masks.
not me using pacifica 👀
@@toxxicx same 😭 i love pacifica
Even having sensitive skin, you can find good skincare products. This is just negligence. Coconut products cause me to break out which is definitely an issue lol but I still find things!
You do realise not everyone is allergic to stuff I'm not as is alot of other people so please
pacifica used to have this cactus water makeup remover wipe and wow i don’t usually have sensitive skin but that stuff was *awful*
Same here! I assumed it was just my skin. It was their tomato/charcoal one
I've had burning/redness reactions to skin products, and the issue got so bad, I had to see a dermatologist.Take care of your skin, or it will take revenge in a horrible way.
Same exact thing happened to me. My face was red nd puffy for days!! I only lasted a few minutes with the mask on
I used the Yes To tomatoe sheet mask. I basically had the same reaction as all those women. I went online and saw multiple negative reviews. They haven't changed a thing.
Same here when I was in elementary school and junior high
Same! When I was in high school. I thought I just must have way too sensitive skin. It burned so bad.
Same here. I felt burning and tingling and my face was a bit red
Once again my hatred of Citrus has saved my skin again. I remember seeing this in stores and thought “grapefruit?” that’s horrible
You made me laugh so hard XD
Agreed. Never liked the idea of citrus on my skin, if it makes my mouth pucker, why the heck would I put it on my face?
It happened to me too!!
Yeah, I wouldn't dare to try a sheetmask again if that had happened to me!!
same, I even remember reading the stupid "if it's tingling it's working!" shit on the back so I left it on longer than my intuition normally would have. once I realized what had happened I washed my face and went to bed thinking "I hope this red mark goes away by tomorrow" luckily it did but still.
Yeah same!
Their grapefruit shower gel nearly burnt my bits off! 😅
Also hate their cucumber wipes, stingy and scratchy.
I've been fine with the orange bottle but the grapefruit one is a massive no from me
No, as soon as you took off that mask I could see your skin was really red and splotchy. I hope it doesn't last long! So sorry for your skin!
Totally! He’s all “Eeehhh, mmmm, I don’t know” and I said “yikes” out loud. 😂 You could see it getting redder in real time! 😬
You can see the square corners from the mask near his eyes.
The only downside to this is that common sense is unfortunately not as common as we think it is, so we are going to hear about things like this time and time again.
yessss
making one naturally or just some cucumber on the eyes to to make it simple is best.
Mine wasn't as a kid and still isn't
One time I used a foaming face mask from YesTo and the skin on my face literally started peeling off. it was horrible
Oh my God that sound horrific
oml- YesTo should get banned
One time I tried to use the cucumber face mask, years ago, and my skin burned wayyyy too much for comfort. I immediately stopped using and never trusted the brand again.
I am LOVING this series James! It's giving me murder mystery/skincare. So refreshing to see new content such as this 😍😍😍

I use their cucumber line masks and never had a problem, despite having sensitive skin. I think it can depend wildly on the individual.
The YesTo tomatoe line Burnt my face as well. Literally can't believe these things are still on the shelves. Super dangerous brand.
I remember 7 years ago I tried a cleanser destroyed my skin never again lol despise this brand
Wait you never ate an actual grapefruit?
Wondering how to know if its just the product not the grapefruit
I had this same thought, but I thought maybe they were reacting to metal in the mask rather than there being a chemical reaction happening.
I’ve definitely had issues with citrus essential oil’s. They burn my skin. Not to mention you’re not supposed to go into the sun after using them.
Such a good point.
That is a good insight about natural ingredients.
99% of YesTo makes my skin so so so red and make it burn for days, but the containers are so cute, its sad they are so bad for sensitiv skin!
I agree. I bought a cucumber face mask several years ago when YesTo was fairly new and it burns like no other. They make people believe they are for sensitive skin when it’s far from it
I don't have sensitive skin and their products makes make skin tingle more often then now
Yep, their stuff is not good at all
Thankfully I've never had any burning reaction to their products, but I can see why most people would choose to avoid them just go be safe. And skin reactions suck so I hope you don't have to deal with them too often!
I've got super sensitive skin and have never had any issues with their products.
Thank you... Now this is a perfect example of a responsible parent.
I wouldn't consider myself to have sensitive skin, probably a "normal" amount of sensitivity, but I had a papaya facemask cause an itchy, red, and dry rash on my face for a few days. Glad you're taking precautions with your son.
Maybe im too german but skincare is not for kids...
@@suides4810 I absolutely agree...& I'm English. Let children be children!

I don’t have sensitive skin at all, yet Yes To’s products burn like hell! I’ve tried a few over the years until I used their Yes To Cucumber “soothing” eye makeup remover pads. I thought I was gonna go blind from the pain!

I had a similar reaction about 5 years ago with their charcoal tomato face mask. Outline of the mask on my face, Redness, burning, hot skin. The whole thing. And the packaging said “Tingling? YES it’s working!“
Girl no. The directions said 10 mins but I only made it 3. Took that shit right off.
To this day it’s the ONLY thing I’ve ever had a reaction too. I have the exact opposite of sensitive skin. It can take a lot. Not even the ordinary peel made it burn like that mask.

Ah I needed your soothing vibe today..Yes To was horrible on my skin: I used the products for acne/ oily skin
Same, I used some of their products while at uni and I felt them burn my skin
I had the worst reaction to one of their products. I turned red and broke out horribly (and I have brown skin so red showing up is very concerning). I thought it was salicylic acid that hurt my skin back then which kept me from trying anything with salicylic acid for years. Turns out it was just their product lol
Yikes, I feel terrible for everyone with these reactions. Stuff like this is why I’m terrified to put anything on my face without a patch test

Same happened to me!
Right?! They’re still cranking products out so somebody somewhere likes them.
The tomato mask had the same effect on me! To be fair my skin is quite reactive, but it was the one and only sheet mask that had that effect on me... And the one and only product I purchased from Yes To
Tomato mask burned me as well!
I really do have issues with "all natural" skincare because Mother Nature and I are not on friendly terms...I'm allergic to nearly everything in nature. Oddly enough I'm fine with scientifically created skincare.

@@tooshy2draw290 agreed. That's why it's so annoying when brands market themselves as "clean" and without "nasty" chemicals. I remember when that face mask was super big, a friend of mine had a pretty nasty reaction. Thank you for talking about this, companies need to be held accountable for their shady and irresponsible actions. Love this new series, love listening while working on my school work. It keeps me sane lol.
I remember using the YesTo Cucumber mask as a teenager. My face immediately burned and ended up peeling for a few days afterwards.
Oh man you took that mask off and I said out loud "OH NO". Your skin was definitely red at first but it seemed to calm down pretty quickly.
THE FACT THAT U ACTUALLY PUT THE MASK ON !! even with the renewal i would not put that on my face 🤣

I was too afraid to try this because I have had horrible reactions to grapefruit. Got a facial that used it and I broke out in bumps.
I hate sheet masks anyway so I don't buy them. I feel bad for the people this brand injured

I'm not even allergic to them or anything and I like many foods with tomatoes but that just doesn't feel like a "refreshing, clean" scent that would normally go in a skincare product.
I've never tried their products but I've been curious. Now I won't 😂 thanks for saving my face, once again. ❤
I originally ordered a full routine of their products for this video but they never arrived! So guess we’ll never know if they’re good or not 😂
@@JamesWelsh god saved your face! Hahaha
@@JamesWelsh oh no! Maybe they don't want you to review their "nAturAL" products. That's suspish if you ask me😂 btw love this series.
I really needed this apart for the whole mask bit lol but I love your soothing voice after a really stressful week this really helped thanks James
Hope you enjoyed the video 💜💜
Lawsuit? Oh no. I’ve been using this brand ever since Cassandra Bankson did an ad for it.
And they might be fine in general. They messed this one up bad time, but that doesn't mean that the rest is bad.
I feel like their products are best sellers for a reason. But they aren’t for me and my skin
Loving this series please do more! Love watching and love that you add your own skin care intertwined!! Love it
My impression from the packaging is that it's aimed at pre-teens/young teens, who have started puberty and are starting to get oily skin. I wouldn't put a "brightening" face mask on a 5 year old child, because the skin of young children is much more delicate than adult or adolescent skin. Products meant for reducing oil on adolescent skin would be too drying for a young child.
I think ideally the parent would say "I do love how shiny that is, but that's for older kids, how about this one?"
It sounds like this product would have been dangerous even for an adolescent or adult too.
Omg I can’t stop wearing it! I got like…5 of their fragrances because I’m obsessed now 😭 yeah I think the Paris one is different
I have oily skin and I absolutely loooovvveeed this mask. It’s crazy how different peoples skin type respond to products. It worked so well for me
It worked well for me too 😅 I have oily skin as well
I use their stuff too, but I’ve had bad reactions to grapefruit things in the past, so I just avoid their grapefruit line
