Why dont they just scan the property to see what chemical signatures are present cause the glass is obviously none lethal. Also you dont rehire the same company who failed to clean up the site lol
I remember you didn't want to have your soil tested in Livermore at your house, if it was found to be radioactive then you had to notify anyone you sold it to.
@@xmo552Well for one there is a lab that produces nuclear weapons. They also tested them at site 300 on the outskirts of livermore. And there used to be a nuclear power plant off hwy 84
I wish they'd have said something about the cancer epidemic that's going on in Bayview Hunters Point. It's so bad the SF Department of Public Health stopped monitoring breast cancer. I wish also they had said something about the SF Department of Public Health's "expert" Amy Brownell, who is indirectly paid by Lennar to assure prospective buyers of Lennar homes that the area is safe, and pressures the City to accept the least sensitive monitoring of radioactivity in Bayview Hunters Point and Treasure Island. Why is it so hard to get even minimal safety for BVHP, besides the obvious racism and prospect of huge developer profits? One hint: Willie Brown is paid $100, 000 per month to represent Lennar. When we say capitalism is killing people, this is a prime example. (This is Michael Lyon, not the SF Gray Panthers.)
What you described is a corrupt government monopoly, if it was an open market capitalism the competition will speak out against the shady builder and drive it out the businesses.
And to think of all those 49er and SFGiants' games I went to at Candlestick. Just why ... clean it right, let people see what you're doing, then get it over with.
Just give the Environmental Law Clinic about $500,000. and they will go away. This is a classic shakedown; how do we know they didn't plant the low emitting object there themselves? It's a piece of broken glass that could have come from a lot of places.
Yes, they used to intentionally dope glass with Uranium for certain colors. They used to paint instrument gauges with glow in the dark, low level radioactive paint for both aircraft and ships. So it's really not surprising to see low level radioactive fragments scattered about this old shipyard.
"It's such a low amount, it doesn't pose a threat."
Hey, It's not always about what you find, but what you haven't found yet.
It's just a tiny piece of old glass!
Could be a shard of glass from 1940's decorative glassware. Certain colors where slightly radioactive.
You're thinking of uranium glass. Finding uranium glass like this is so incredibly unlikely.

They put the largest toxic rubber parking lot there too right on the coastal wetlands watershed. God have mercy.
Yup, Veteran housing contaminated in S.F.

Just like that gas tank spill in Hawaii red hill base…not surprised
why did SF let developers build houses at a former Super Fund site.
This is so surprising

same thing up north in sonoma county, couldn't use land because the army contaminated the soil by the airport
